Well, that is a hardship indeed. However, you might take comfort in knowing that you are not alone in it--it has happened to a god, even! Neocrei Filiandro, the Giant god of the Unknown, once had his head of hair destroyed in a similar fashion.
The son of Neocrei is Fírien, the god of fire, and like fire, he can be a trickster. Neocrei always took pride in his hair, because it was brown, and no other god's hair was that color. He liked to stare at looking-glasses and admire the rich color, like a very dark mahogany touched with gold. Fírien, who had blond hair just like his mother and grandmother, thought his father was very vain, staring at his hair all the time. So Fírien hatched a plan. He gave Neocrei a tea that would make him fall deeply asleep, and then he used his mastery over fire to set Neocrei's beautiful hair alight as he slept. When Neocrei awoke, the unmistakable scent of burning hair left no doubt as to who had done it, and he was angry, but ultimately he loved his son more than he loved his hair. He also realized that he *had* been vain, which was an unattractive trait, and therefore he was less attractive than he would have been if his hair were a more typical color. When his hair grew back, he still cared for it and thought it looked nice, but he didn't pay as much attention to it as he had before.
