Went to a sushi place last night
There was a sushi roll called крабс (crabs).
A Lenin statue and the moon, 11:02 pm, St Petersburg.
Guess what this swanky as heck restaurant is? With it's waiters, menus, and fish tank? Guess what? It's Pizza Hut! When my boyfriend suggested going to Pizza Hut, I expected to eat a dingy little pizza in a cardboard box. But what I got was a dingy little pizza in an iron skillet type thing. What a world.
Juggling Convention, St. Petersburg 2015. Balancing Competition.
Update: I’m fine.
I got some medicine, and now am drinking much water. And sleeping.
Hey! You know what’s really annoying? Not being able to spell the word nasueasdfa when you are feeling nauseas and emailing your parents.
Hey! Fun thing for you, followers! You’re about to find out what the Russian medical system is like. With an inside look. From me!
Ha. Ha ha. Ha ha ha. Magnificent.
In other news, I think I have a urinary tract infection (or kidney infection)? And I’ve been feeling nauseous all morning.
Oooh! Live blogging update, I just threw up. Yaaaaaaaay!
I’ve been found out
I showed my boyfriend my blog yesterday (and all the times I’ve mentioned him on here) ((Including the period of time when I didn’t know his name)).
He seemed to like it, although I had to explain why I made many of the posts with, ‘Americans would think this is strange.’
You think you’re used to culture shock, and then there’s still some stuff.
Am I right?
Yes. I am.
Man, as this is my third time traveling to Russia, I viewed it more as a business trip type thing rather than one of those life changey type things, so I think I was caught off guard by some of the little stuff. (Like, for example, this was my first time on a Russian airline. At the beginning and the end of the flight they handed out little candies. And don’t you know it, but my first-semester-in-Russia-and-wanting-to-comment-on-everything-in-my-blog voice chimed in thinking, ‘You know this is a really nice Russian innovation. This helps people’s ears pop on the way up and down. Isn’t that nice? People always consider things in Russia as worse, but here you go. Here is something nice’).
Why am I up?

What have I been doing with my life in this past blog hiatus? Good question
1. Submitted my long and complicated paper about computer lexicon. Woo.
2. Hung out with my boyfriend some.
3. Rediscovered the joys of reading on public transportation.
4. Decided to stay in St. Pete over the summer.
You are now caught up. Congrats.
Nevsky Prospekt, St. Petersburg, 5/14/2015, 9:05 pm.
FYI: it was snowing this morning. (This was taken at about 5 pm). Man these weather changes are throwing me for a loop.
Telling a Knock-Knock Joke to my Russian Boyfriend
Me: Knock knock.
Him: Кто там? (Who's there?)
Me: Boo.
Him: Who is Boo?
Hey! Look at this hottie!
(Helloooo). Oh, look, he said hi back!
This is Victor Tsoi, the lead singer of the underground rock band Kino (Cinema). I came to know about Victor after having to do a short essay on Soviet underground rock, and let’s say that this music is pretty darn good.
Anyway, new goal: go to the Victor Tsoi museum (that I found out exists today). Also, if you are a student of the Russian language, I know it can be hard sometimes to find quality entertainment in Russian, so here you go. Listening practice вперед!
