"Oh gosh Mona! You're bleeding!" Ellie's panicked voice cut the silence that followed after the shot. She bolted to the Mona's side and collapsed on her knees trying to stop the bleeding. She didn't know what she was doing, but the adrenaline rush was too strong. She wanted to help her. She has to. "You took that bullet for me." She told more to herself, her voice on the verge of crying.
"No shit, princess." Mona snarled clutching her bleeding abdomen and Ellie's hands. She felt as if her insides wanted to come out. "Damn it, my favorite clothes are ruined" She tried to joke to lighten the mood, but she started violently coughing and vicing in pain. Ellie's face grew more worried each time the other's body jerked.
"Okay, okay, it's just a minor injury." Ellie took a deep breath "You will be okay, we will be okay, We need just..." She started rambling and Mona squizzed her hand a little harder.
"You don't believe in that, do you?" Mona's expression was hard as steel and her voice startled panicked girl. She hated seeing Ellie in this state and the thought that she is the reason hurt her more than any wound could ever. She sighed, every breath burned in her throat.
At this exact moment she knew, that giving her life for Ellie's was the best decision in her entire life. This girl gave her a reason to not screw up her life too much. Even if it was only a few weeks, she grew up on her stronger than she would admit.
"I lied to you." Mona started avoiding the other's gaze. It was time for her to come clean and finally completely open up to her. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Ellie looking at her with puzzled expression. "I'm afraid." She took a deep breath which she regretted instantly, because air started to scratch her lungs. "I was afraid. The moment I saw you I was so damn afraid."
"I-I don't understand Mona."
The black-haired woman gritted her teeth and sucked a deep breath. She loved this girl soo much, but she was too oblivious sometimes. She fought hard not to close her eyes, but the will for it was growing stronger. "Remember that day when you came to us for the first time?" Her voice grew hoarse with every word.
Ellie slowly nodded looking directly in Mona's eyes. "Yeah, you hated me then." As if on cue, rain began to sprinkle around them, as if trying to wash away the weight of memories. Ellie's heart began to break at the thought of every happy moment spent with Mona and every moment they could have spent with each other, if Mona hadn't tried to isolate herself so much from her.
Mona's body jerked with a breathy chuckle and she spatted a little bit of blood. "From that moment on, every day I feel ashamed of myself for keeping you at a distance. I thought this was my way of protecting you from myself." She coughed again, griping her wound harder, feeling the blood seeping through her fingers. "I don't have time for this." She groaned and pressed Ellie's face to hers, kissing her as if trying to make up for lost time when her pride wouldn't let her near her.
She poured everything she felt for her into that kiss. Fear, love, admiration. She ran her tongue over Ellie's lips trying to remember their taste and shape. Every second of this kiss burned her lungs. Her hands with which she held Ellie's face began to slowly fall. She felt her end approaching as strength began to leave her body.
Ellie could feel blood in that kiss, but she didn't care, and neither did she care about the bloody streaks Mona left on her cheeks. It wasn't her dream kiss, but if it was truly going to be the last one, nothing played a role. Her hands caressed the cold cheeks of the black-haired woman trying to warm her body, but she knew it was only a matter of time.
Mona's eyelids grew heavier by the minute, and her breathing grew shallow. She felt hot tears on her pale, cold face and she didn't know if they were her or Ellie's. She tried to breathe, but it was as if her lungs were going to explode from one more breath. Even if the pain was too much, she was afraid to stop. She was afraid to leave Ellie.
"I love you, Ellie. I always will." With that sentence her last breath escaped in to the cold air, and her body went limp in Ellie's arms. The rain began to fall harder, beating a mournful rhythm around them. Ellie squeezed her eyes shut, pressing Mona's cold face against her chest, crying out to the empty space.
Warnings: none beside slow burn and cheap humor (it could change in the future, there may be some errors)
Starring:
Bea ‘Gayville’ Hughes as the Dumb Jock
Poppy Min Sinclair as the Ice Queen
Veronica Lombardi as the Voice of Reason (mostly)
And Chloe St. James as the Precious Cinnamon Roll.
- Watch it Gayville! - Poppy yelled as her coffee was almost knocked out of her hands by Bea's clumsiness. - These clothes are worth more than you’ll ever be.
- Sorry, I didn't see 'ya there! - She yelled back, smiling cheekily.
- Impossible - Poppy chirped and tossed her perfect hair behind shoulder, with a devilish smirk painted on her face.
Bea's eyes trailed from head to toe, admiring, almost devouring Poppy's body. If you ignore their mutual hatred for each other, the sexual tension between them could be cut with a knife. The topic of Poppy's relationship with Bea was a taboo at Belvoire for everyone. Everyone except...
- Ugh it's so gross - Veronica sighed watching the two awkwardly flirt-fighting with each other.
She had been watching this charade from the very beginning, when Bea first ran into Poppy. Since that day, the two girls had acted idiotic in each other's company, hurling insults at each other, but everyone has known that if they have had the chance, they would have jumped into bed with each other.
- What are you doing in the bushes, Veronica?
Veronica's heart leaped in her throat, when she heard familiar voice. She instinctively grabbed Chloe and pulled her closer to her, covering her mouth with free hand. Her nose was immediately blessed with sweet floral scent and for a brief moment she forgot what she was doing.
- Be quiet, damn it! - Veronica whispered when she snapped out of it, still holding the other close, not bothering to free her anytime soon. Blonde's scent was too captivating and the sight of wide-eyed, vulnerable Chloe under her made her heart skip a beat.
But as she was starring at Chloe, drowning helplessly in her eyes, her body jerked awkwardly when she felt something wet on her hand.
- Dude! - she shoved blonde away, maniacally wiping her hand on the grass. - Did you just licked me?
Chloe, on the other hand, was calmly wiping her tongue in a handkerchief, avoiding ruining her perfect applied lipstick, like licking her friend was something she does on a daily basis. Veronica didn't even bother to ask nor she really even wanted to know.
- What are you doing here V? - Blonde cough awkwardly, trying to compose herself and hide her a little flushed face.
- Do you see that two dumbasses over there? - Veronica brought binoculars to Chloe's face, and pointed towards Poppy and Bea still arguing. - We already know that our queen has hots for Mrs. Farm-snack. And I - she pulled blonde closer in onesided hug - have a plan.
- Last time when you had a plan, we ended up in a detention... - Chloe started, anxiously playing with a loose strand of her hair.
- Details, details - Veronica waved her hand dismissively. - In my defense, that girl started it!
Chloe chuckled sweetly seeing her friend became serious. She patted the other's shoulder gently, holding her hand a little to long, but a little to short for her liking.
- Yeah V - she smiled even wider at the memories playing in her head - Besides she threw her dog at you first.
- I know, right? The audacity of that stupid bi... - she bit her tongue, to stop words from pouring out. She didn't mind swearing, but with Chloe, while she was looking at her with big, puppy eyes, she couldn't act like total jerk. - Anyway, here's the plan...
-*-
After a short phone call and some pleading, Veronica managed to persuade Poppy to meet her on the courtyard. The ice queen was walking towards them, intimidating like always. Chloe looked at Veronica, who winked at her and put her mask of typical disinterest on her face.
- I promise to kill that total clueless idiot one day - Poppy sat down on the bench with a thud. Her rage made Chloe feel like forgetting about the bet and hiding somewhere far, far away from her.
- I have a proposition for you - Veronica began, grabbing Chloe's hand under the table and gently drawing circles with her thumb to relax her.
Poppy's murderous face didn't impress Veronica, so she didn't look away from the blonde, who was hurling lightning bolts with her gaze, but she could feel Chloe was already halfway out of the table.
- Let's bet...
- Chloe gets me some water, chilled but not cold - she ordered, interrupting Veronica. When the other blonde was no longer in sight, Poppy leaned over and lowered her voice. - When there are no more children around. What do you want to bet on?
- That Hughes will fall in love with you within a month - She said and in one breath continued with the rest of the idea. - If you win, my vlogs will be only about you for a month, and if you lose - at this point, her voice betrayed a slight note of excitement - You give me your Lamborghini for month.
- It's not worth it - Poppy snorted ironically and crossed her arms over her chest. Her face showed irritation at the very sound of her enemy's name. - And it's pointless really, everybody loves me - she smiled brightly, but it never reaches her cold eyes.
- You're afraid you're going to lose - she drilled, knowing which strings to pull to make Poppy fall into the trap she had prepared for her.
- Excuse me? - Shocked and ofended by her friend's boldness statement, she didn't even know what to say for a moment, but she quickly recovered. - I'm Poppy Min Sinclair and no one, I mean no one, can resist me!
- Prove it.
Check...
- Maybe I'll prove it!
...mate.
Veronica's lips twisted into a huge, almost unnatural smile as they exchanged a handshake, knowing that blonde would lose the bet. There was no option they will fall in love within a month, and having sex doesn't define being in love. In her head she already had several ideas where to take Chloe, when she wins.
- Where's that stupid girl with my water - Poppy muttered under her breath as she stood up abruptly and started heading towards the entrance of the school building, completely ignoring the black-haired girl.
After waiting for a few moments to make sure Poppy couldn't hear her anymore, Veronica pulled out her phone and almost jumping from joy, dialed Chloe's number.
- Fish took the bait - Veronica said quietly when Poppy wasn't in the earshot anymore.
- What fish V? You didn't tell me we were going fishing, gross.
- What? - she asked dumbfounded. - Actually, nevermind. The eagle has landed.
- I'm not some kind of gynecologist, can you be more specific?
- Ornithologist Chlo... - Veronica sighed, rubbing her temple with the other hand. - Poppy agreed to the bet!
- Why didn't you tell me sooner?
Veronica was screaming internally at Chloe obliviousness, but she kept her most serious expression, even if the blonde couldn't see her.
- How did you manage to live so long on your own?
- By breathing maybe? Duh - Chloe answered proudly, making the other cringe even more.
Warnings: language, angst, there may be some errors (English isn’t my first language)
- Hey Pops, I got your message and came here as fast as I could. What happ... - her words died in her throat, when Poppy started kissing her.
It was rough, primal even, as Poppy's mouth sank in to Bea's, dragging needy tongue across her bottom lip. She was soo forceful, that Bea's legs gave out and both of them fell on the sofa. Poppy like a champ, found place on the other's lap, trapping her between her legs.
Bea's excitement grew, as blondes hands started to play with her loose collar. She felt tingling all over, her body aching for Poppy's touch, growing more and more impatient. Until the blonde bit her neck and it was more uncomfortable than pleasurable.
- I hate you the most of all, Gayville - she breathed out, her nails digging into the other's skin.
Bea's mind went fuzzy. It wasn't their first time. They even slept together before, but something wasn't quite right. Poppy was too eager, too fast, her moves were uncontrolled and haphazard, not cold and collected like always.
She shouldn't care, it was just sex, nothing more. Poppy was straight about it, and she agreed with her. But now, she couldn't pretend she only wants that. So when Poppy tried to kiss her neck or rather even ravish it again, Bea places hands on each side of blonde’s face and stopped her.
Poppy's face was unreadable for second, before it breaks in to a cold scowl. She wasn't happy about being stopped and she didn't even try hiding it.
- What are you doing Gayvile? - she snapped, her breath hot on Bea's cheeks, even if the blonde was emanating cold. Her gaze was foggy, unfocused, but dangerous at the same time.
- Tell me what happened Poppy - Bea tried to make her voice steady, but it was no use. Her voice wavered. And from the blonde's face, she knew the other didn't like that.
Poppy abruptly stood up from Bea's lap and turned her back on her. She was shaking. Lightly at first and then there was it, that empty, hollow laughter, that made Bea's blood froze in her veins.
- Don't give me that "I-care-about-you" shit, Gayville - her voice was full of malice, but there was something other to it. Saddnes maybe. But even if there was a slight trace of it, she covered it with a little chuckle and turned herself to face Bea again. - I'm Min Sinclair. I don't need anybody’s pity. Even if it's coming from my best fuckbuddy - she winked.
It was that damn wink, or the last part of her statement, that makes Bea's stomach turn into tight knots and next what she remembered, was her hand smacking the other girl perfectly across her cheek.
- I've got enough of your bullshit, Sinclair - she burst like a balloon, her emotions took control and tears started to fall from her face. - You always talk about Min Sinclairs being too powerful, too beautiful, too rich and too smart for this world, but you are too dumb to not even see I'm in love with you! - she clasped her hand on her mouth, but to no avail.
Poppy was staring at her, mouth agape and colors drained from her face. But as the words sank in, her cheeks started to remind roses in bloom. She didn't look pissed, bothered maybe.
She heard that words, a lot. People loved her, or rather her money, and social status. Being wealthy has it perks, but the worst minus was no honest people around. She accepted that and learned to live with it.
Then there was Bea. Her archnemesis, who made her life a living hell. Not because she was dumbass jock, which she was, but because she started, unintentionally at first, crushing Poppy's walls.
As she was lost in thoughts and many memories washed over her, she discovered that Bea was genuinely in love with her. And that vision scared her the most.
- Bea... - she tried to tell something, probably something stupid, but the other girl silenced her with one swift hand motion.
- No Poppy. Enough is enough - Bea's voice was cold like steel, even with the tears rolling down her cheeks and hurt painted on her face. - Get out.
Poppy was shocked with how quickly Bea's demeanor changed, but she obeyed and without second glance, she walked out from her dorm, shutting door behind her.
Bea took a deep breath and sat on the sofa. She was mentally crushed and her heart ached, like she was stabbed a million times. Only one question ringed in her mind. Was it worth it?
