Took way longer than I thought but here's my first comic! This takes place in my Open World Ending AU, where kinger gets caine to chill tf out and together they start to build open worlds for everyone to explore/live in as they want. Jax's mental health and behavior has significantly improved under these new circumstances, but he still has a lot to figure out.

Mind you, episode 8, where he was fucking unstable and was having "FUN", and he was doing shit to them, but for this little moment, he softened, didn't throw her like a toy, GENTLY PUT HER BACK ON HER FEET.

i fear people like that just don't take a moment to really understand why a ship can actually make sense it comes down to ultimately understanding the characters, putting 2 and 2 together to create possibilities between them that aren't at all farfetched. pomni out of the entire group is like one of the only people who can get through to caine, and it seems heavily foreshadowed by gummigoo and kinger's heartfelt advice in ep3. even in the promo video after the pilot, pomni asks "is this a cry for help?" there's also evidence hinting that pomni is probably caine's favourite besides kinger: - she has 9 stars on the favourite character awards sheet (the star count for each character was definitely driven by caine's fondness for them) - he wants to make adventures more appealing to her - he admits he relates to her (abandonment issues? i always thought pomni liked exploring abandoned buildings because she may find comfort in it somehow) - once he snatches pomni he reconsiders what he's doing, i find it funny how he suddenly rethinks once pomni is included and begins soothing himself by petting her - during his final crashout, he seems to be talking to everybody, but his eyes never leave pomni. i believe he's aware that she's been trying to reach out to people, so he may be venting out his frustrations specifically to her because she's the only one who might understand - he most likely is jealous of gummigoo, but i don't think it was at first. i believe he began to think about it too much and it began haunting him. pomni formed a genuine connection with an npc, she was showing affection to a character he created rather than appreciating his own efforts. it proved to him that humans and AI can be friends, but he was the exception. it probably gave him memories to how the developers valued abel over him, and wants to prove to pomni that he's better. and the ringmaster and jester dynamic they have is just so interesting and the show plays into it perfectly. the jester can be wise in ways the monarch (caine) is not, and their role is that of an advisor who could contribute an original perspective. also, something interesting i read is how jesters also used to frequently comfort the majesty. through their "sharp tongue" and wit, they helped rulers view situations in a new light, defusing dangerous or awkward situations. they could criticize the monarch's pride, flaws, or poor decisions by using humour and satire to make uncomfortable truths palatable. i wonder if this will be implemented into ep9 at all, if caine does end up returning and they hear each other out. anyway, sorry for the rant, back to drawing my lil fools
