I do not often post personal issues to my blog, so please forgive me. I would not be posting here if I weren’t extremely desperate. I have tried every source I can think of and none have proved successful, and Tumblr is really my last hope.
These are my cats (Spaz, top; Simon, middle; Cocoa, bottom). They mean the world to me, and are currently my only real companions in life, as I have a bit of a hard time making friends, and they have always been there for me. Recently, my mother (who is caring for them) decided to make some bad decisions for herself and is moving out of her apartment. Therefore, I need a place to keep my cats until I can get my own apartment (I am currently living with my aunt who was kind enough to let me stay while I looked so I wouldn’t be homeless.) My aunt already has one cat and her husband, my uncle, is allergic, so I can’t keep them here. My mother has said that if she can’t find a home for them, she will be giving them up to the shelter. I do not want this to happen! 2 out of these 3 will likely be euthanized because they are considered “unadoptable.” Cocoa, the oldest, is almost 16 years old, and I have had since he was a tiny 6 week old ball of fluff - he has literally been with me for as long as I can remember. He has hyperthyroidism and, as a result, is underweight.
Simon, who I adopted last year, is vision impaired and has issues with aggression due to a brain injury he received after being hit by a car a few years ago. The only “adoptable” one of the group is Spaz, and while I’m sure someone would love to have him, I just can’t let him go without really trying my best to find someone to foster them while I look for an apartment.
I am looking for someone in the Portland, Maine area who preferrably has no other pets or cats only. These 3 must go together, and I need someone who has experience with cats and is willing to understand and work with them, as they will be scared with this new change, and won’t give up on them after only a couple days or weeks. I am hoping I will only need a foster for 3-4 months, possibly longer depending on circumstances. Obviously I would be willing to pay for food, litter, supplies, vet visits, medication, etc. Plus, I work at a pet store so I get discounts on things like that.
Please, if you happen to live in this area (or even if you don’t), it would be a huge help to reblog this and get the word out. I am desperate to find a temporary home for them so they won’t have to go to a new one where they will be scared and confused. Thank you.
