streetlightsky. i think that i would like to tell you that postcards brought me into fandom frfr. 4 years ago i read postcards and have fallen into fandom and 4 years from that i still think that the amazing fic youve written is what has inspired me to keep writing and even as i pull away from f1 i will never forget your fic and how much joy it brings me. thank you for your work and i will screech if u post again <33 sending love

hi, lovely! this was the sweetest message and literally made my day, so thank you! if i have one minor blip on the radar in f1 fandom, it's postcards. and while sometimes it's hard for me to look back on my old fanfics, i will not forget the experience of writing that fic, the emotion and motivation behind it, and the overwhelming feedback it received for my standards.

to be honest, i do have some WIPs that i would absolutely love to finish because the stories are strong, but sadly, the motivation and inspiration is not there like it was when i first started getting into f1 (and i've taken an extended break from fandom to focus on my personal life). but i'll never say never, ;)

nope! the discord is just a hub for anyone participating!

do i have to write?

absolutely not! while this is geared toward writers, if you’re a gif maker or artist you can totally make something for this. there’s a space in the discord for you and come april 2nd you can post your works under the #f1rarepairfest tag :)

what if i can’t make the deadline?

no worries! we don’t want this to be stress inducing. since this isn’t an exchange, no one will be on your back but we will close the ao3 collection a week after the deadline.

nope! you can write one or ten, write a fic and make a gifset, whatever your heart wants!

go to ao3 and filter the pairing you want to explore, if it has less than 500 works, you’re in the clear.

12. favorite character to write about this year

the cheater answer is mr. sebastian vettel. i have two active wips i worked on in 2022 with seb as the sole voice/narrative perspective. his tone comes pretty naturally to me--maybe because i tend to write him as the wise, mature, somber character. but i always enjoy seb's perspective.

14. a fic you didn’t expect to write

an almost cheating answer: the sebchal lawyers au snippet. i'm not sure if there is a true audience for this, and i believe there is both an older non-sebchal f1 fic and newer sebchal-involved fic that are lawyers aus, so not sure this will ever be expanded past what i posted. but this ficlet was very last minute for the 2022 sebchal day, and i had been playing some interactive stories app game on my phone that was a romantic lawyers plotline, so i was fortunately inspired for enough time to get this down. i do love the imagery, though. and i'm still waiting to read the perfect sebchal office au fic.

18. current number of wips

way past how many i should have! i told myself in 2020 back when i was diving back into fic writing that i would not have more than 3 wips active at a time. me being me, that pretty much failed starting 2022. i currently have 5 sebchal wips, 1 abandoned sebchal wip that i should actually post as an unfinished idea, and 1 chenford wip that's more of a detailed research page in my notes app than actually words for a fic.

28. longest fic you read this year

keystrokes by ladyeggplant - 37922 words not a chance by myshipsaresunk - 36910 words

so, i did not review 50 pages of my ao3 history for all fics read in 2022, so there are definitely fics i read last year with higher word counts, but these are the two i chose to mention and essentially recommend. (i will also say that i weeded out fics i did not finish, fics that were not finished, and also fics that i finished but did not feel were worth mentioning or even worth the number of words that were written; that's a discussion for another ask.)
