I would like to propose to you an idea. Teen Beach movie Daiyakure.
(Had to go back and watch the trailer. HAVE NOT watched this movie in YEARS lol)

They're going through a rough patch, they both feel as though they're not good enough for each other and will lose their spark. They talk to their respective people about it (Hiro with his friend circle and Daiya with Mondo + Crazy Diamond members) and everyone agrees that they should just talk to one another.
They basically ignore that advice and decide to go on a date. A beach date! They're going to try to do something new and adventurous together, hoping it'll make the other fall for them again.
They try surfing, but keep failing until eventually they get swept away. They get split up and end up crashing back on the beach at separate spots.
Bikers find Daiya.
Surfers find Hiro.
[I read the plot for Teen Beach Movie and kinda started driving off that road from this point onwards.]
The surfers are made up entirely of Class 78 while the Bikers are (obviously) the Crazy Diamond members. Mondo is a biker, but he secretly goes to the surfers to hang out.
Hiro tries to explain that he's not from here, but gets caught up in the singing and dancing because it's really fun and silly and super distracting from the turmoil he's currently facing.
Daiya tries to explain the same thing and the Bikers' also start snapping and jiving about how crazy he's acting. I imagine it's one of those 'Protag swears they don't sing while actively singing' moments in movies. Daiya also gives up eventually because he actually does really like singing and he hasn't had this much fun in a while with the gang.
They forget to look for each other, spending the night with their respective groups in a one big, giant sleepover. During the night, Hiro spills to Junko, Sayaka, Sakura, and Leon that he has someone he loves and is actively looking to get back to, but he's scared where it's going to lead. He thinks he's too childish for Daiya, like he's going to fail him or that he already has. This translate into 'I'm not pretty enough' because this is a old Disney Movie and no-ones problems can be too complex and not be about their looks. The girls, and Leon, give him a makeover, dressing him up like a true surfer.
Daiya finds some of his OG gang members hanging out at the bar in their little hideout. They talk and drink (Pop because there's no alcohol allowed in this kid's movie) before Daiya spills his issues to them. He feels like his disabilities and trauma will become too much for Hiro to handle, if it already isn't, and that it would be unfair to ask him to stay with him if they worsen in the future. This also translates to 'I don't look cool enough' and they give him a makeover to look like a badass Biker. (He had swim trunks on, they couldn't clock his badass Biker aura through them)
Both of them don't look too different from their usual style after the makeover, but something about being in a movie makes it feel like they're seeing each other for the first time again. They fall deeper in love and sing a duet on the beach before getting hit by a wave at the end. They fall into the sand and lay together laughing then realize that they're not wet or sandy, their clothes are perfectly clean after the get up.
They're becoming more engraved into the movie.
Blah blah something something, they get back to the real world and figure out that they are perfect for each other and can figure any issue out as long as they're together. Y'know, like a true Disney ending.
