Actually, I like the idea of Dirk role-playing as Dave quite a lot. We know he would have made Hal mimic simulations of him, I've seen multiple posts about him engaging with his Bro's fandom to selfship. But if he's going to fixate on him to the point of analysing every single quirk and mannerism in his interviews and personal life he might as well mimic him himself. I think he innately does want to copy his Bro but stops himself from doing it because "it's lame". He'd allow himself to roleplay as him because "it's ironic". Hal and him would roleplay Alphacest with Hal as Dirk and Dirk as his Bro but they'd get derailed from the ERP arguing about whether something is or isn't in character. Hal won't take criticism for his Dirk and will just claim he's roleplay 13 year old Dirk and therefore intimately knkws Dirk would have fucking said that. But they into arguments about who does the more accurate Dave frequently, Dirk nitpicks his for coming off stiff and soulless while Hal calls out how much Dirk slips into blatant wish fulfillment.
