It's all " the gods aren't their mythos!", " there's a million interpretations that don't agree on that!" and " the gods are human! They are fallible and make mistakes!" When pagans and historians talk about the three brother's( Poseidon, Zeus and Hades) history of rape and violence but crickets to even damnation when people try to apply that logic and reality to the faults of Hera, Aphrodite, Athena and Demeter.

I don't think this has to do with mythos or warring interpretations(most by men, especially ones that rewrite things to be consensual) or "mistakes" made by all powerful beings to their charges, I think you're just a misogynist with a double standard.

As an avid Zeus devotee, I find it disheartening that this is your experience with other Zeus devotees (along with Posiden and Hades devotees) because that's not why I worship him in the slightest. I love father Zeus because of his associations with justice. I've always felt connected to the clouds and overcast weather. I've always been inclined to be as hospitable as possible, just as Lord Zeus is. I hope you know that we're not all like this--my patron deity is Lord Zeus but I also worship Lady Artemis and Lord Hermes.

None of the gods are their mythos--no I don't believe Lady Persephone is helpless because of her myth wherein she was kidnapped by Lord Hades. Nor do I believe that Lady Athena is petty and cruel because she transformed Medusa into a gorgon for things that weren't even a fault of hers (which I know is only one interpretation of that myth).

Yet I don't believe my choice of patron deity is unfortunate as you say either--if anything I find it awful that people hate deities because of the mythos--and I almost never see other Zeus devotees. And I figure the reason why is the mythos itself! There are so few devotees of Zeus and Posiden that I find--people would rather worship the radiant Aphrodite and the intelligent Athena than the serial rxpists in the mythos. But the gods just aren't that. They were expressions of what was acceptable in ancient Greek society because the ancient Greek gods represented what was true rather than what was good.

Other than that, thank you for speaking up about misogyny within the hellenic pagan space. It's definitely a more progressive space, but you can never be too careful. Zeus, Posideon and Hades devotees as OP describes are not welcome here.

I can't vet this 100% but I think Ancient Greeks would stare in horror at how some of you treat Zeus.

Welcome to my blog. I plan to post art and stories about my OC Stroma Stromilos while also roleplaying him a bit. With Zeus's cloud-gathering abilities and Nephele's shyness and generosity, Stroma is a minor god of stratus clouds. One has siblings that rule over nimbus, cumulus, and cirrus clouds. He appears to mortals in a foggy/transparent state.

I personally am a Zeus devotee who has a strong connection to clouds.
