I actually have the weekend off from work and I don’t know what to do with myself.
It’s summer, so I’m always going to suggest a beach bash first. If not possible then driving to Vegas or San Francisco for some fun.

He couldn’t argue against the other man’s words. Even if he wanted to.. Playing the devil’s advocate had been a hobby of his since the beginning. However, this time, it only felt right to forego that persona. Eddie just chuckled at Martin’s response. “Yes, but… sometimes, drinking alone is unavoidable in certain circumstances,” he mused. “Sure. Why not?” he answered on the fly. “I can always keep the store closed for the morning if I get a little rowdy,” he tagged on with a laugh. “What kind of cocktails are we drinking? Something watermelon flavored?” he asked gesturing to the fruit Martin had clutched in his hands.
The elevator sounded as they reached Martin’s floor. He held the door open for Eddie with his foot. “Like being alone?” He asked with a smirk on his lips. Writing meant drinking without a reason to. It made it that much more bearable. “You’re not a light weight are you?” He headed down the hall toward his apartment, balancing the watermelon on one hip while he searched for his keys. “Definitely watermelon flavored. We’ll mix whatever up until it tastes good.” Martin pushed the door to his place open. The apartment was neat as always and very minimally decorated. “Come on in.”
eddiesoutoftheclosetconsignment:
All Eddie did at first was look at Martin with clear amusement. He’d never seen someone so attached to a food item without being drunk before. It was kind of endearing really. At the mention of rum, the store owner cocked his head to reassess the other man’s sobriety. “Actually, some stores do deliver your groceries to you now. And some liquor stores have delivery too. At least they did out east,” he said, throwing the comment out there as he joined Martin in the elevator. He pressed the button for the fourth floor as the doors closed behind him.
“Don’t tell me that.” Martin gave Eddie a pointed look then shook his head. He knew about home delivery and as tempting as it was, it wasn’t something he did anymore. One of those ‘live better’ decisions he came up with at 4am once. “I don’t need more excuses to be lazy. I already don’t cook. Anyway, isn’t getting drunk alone at home one of the first indicators of alcoholism?” Not that drinking with a large group in public was going to save him for that if it came to it, but Martin held on to the small things. “On that note. Want to join me for cocktails?”
“I’m not much for eating at home or cooking,” Martin said cradling the ten pound watermelon in his arms like it was his first born. “But if someone started delivering watermelon straight to my apartment, I might never leave.” He pressed the button for the third floor. “They’d have to also deliver rum though.” And that was the give away. They’d have cocktails at his meeting this afternoon and suddenly Martin decided he was going to buy watermelon and replicate them no matter how ridiculous he’d looked walking through the neighborhood with just his watermelon. He had the necessary alcohol at home for now.

I SAW THE NEWS, YES! I’m jealous of the people that got to be there! If I didn’t have a store to run, I’d have been there myself. In my world, I dress up for every holiday. And sometimes, even during normal days. Just for the hell of it!
Maybe they’ll start a tradition and do it every year on the anniversary of his death or birthday; that seems less morbid. It kinda fits the type of store you’re running. It’d be weird if you were an accountant or doctor.
Another day on the sea. Sometimes I think I should move out of the house, buy a houseboat, and never come back to the land. Well, until I had to come back, of course.
That sounds like an excellent way to get cabin fever. Are you a fisherman or something?
eddiesoutoftheclosetconsignment:
Yes! Yes, they did. Everyone was in tights and capes. Except Catwoman who was in her typical super tight one piece get-up. I’m so SAD! Okay… I’m not really that sad. I never got the chance to meet the guy after all. But still!
Did you catch it last night? They projected the bat symbol on one of the buildings in LA in his honor. Sounded like something you’d have gone to. So, is Halloween like your go to holiday then, or are you one of those people who dresses up for all of them?

My ideas are always accurate. Or at least 95% accuracy. One of my theories involves you being taken over by an alien presence. Another involves you being clearly head over heels for me for years and thus clearly unable to resist my manly wiles. A lot of them? Is nothing sacred anymore?
An alien presence huh. How did this idea get started? I know I’m out of this world, but aliens is kinda pushing it. Have I even known you for years? That one isn’t even accurate. Not gay crushes.
So....uhhhh...
handymanscott:
Oh. It was? Huh. Kay. Uh…yeah bonfires’r good. Did a lot of those as a kid. Beer kinda shindig or is it red solo cups and shitty liquor? Yeah, pretty familiar with these paths and dunes man.
Mhm, no offense but you’d be one old looking high schooler. Guessing by the dude throwing it, it’d probably be craft beer and good alcohol. Think you could help me find it then? You can be my plus one.
beaualastair:
I only tell myself that because it’s true. You’re so afraid of admitting the truth, Stromberg, and I have a few ideas as to why. It’s okay, you can admit your big gay crush on me. You’re in a safe space.
And what are those ideas? As entertaining as they are, they’re hardly ever true. I have a lot of big gay crushes, but none of them are on you sweetheart.
beaualastair:
Well aren’t you kind? Then I clearly just got too hot and you couldn’t stand to sleep with someone so suddenly attractive. What an ego boost.
Well, my generosity can only go so far, I’m afraid. But if telling yourself it’s because you suddenly got makes you feel better, then who am I to take that away from you.
beaualastair:
What does your memory of him look like? Steer far, far away. The last thing you want is someone from the ugly bunch trying to get in your pants.
Just less creepy. Hey, I can be generous sometimes with that bunch. I let you into my pants.
So....uhhhh...
handymanscott:
Man, that doesn’t fill me with much happiness t’be fair. Uh…I’m not doin the homework dude. Ain’t been in school in years. And I’mma bet my idea of a beach party is different that all these vacationing folk.
Dude, that was a joke. It’s a bonfire type deal tomorrow night, if you’re interested. I think you can climb down from here and find it.

No heels today, unfortunately. But Batman, and Adam West, would be confident enough in himself to wear them. You have to watch at least one episode of it! It’s so fucking genius and campy! He was great as a voice actor. Dammit… now I’m just more sad that the world has lost him. How dare you!
I’m sure they were. Didn’t they just wear spandex that whole duration of that show? He was even campy as a voice actor with Fairly Odd Parents and even in Family Guy. Woops, shouldn’t have mentioned him. I didn’t realize you were so attached.
eddiesoutoftheclosetconsignment:
Nope. After a year of having this shop open, I’m pretty sure most of the people here are used to my… ‘eccentricities’. And if they’re new to town, I’ve explained that I’m mourning Adam West. Typically, a conversation about him crops up after that. My own way of honoring his memory.
Were you wearing heels this time too, or did you make do without them? Eccentricities is one way of putting it. I don’t think I ever watched the 1960s Batman all the way through. I just know him from cartoons.
eddiesoutoftheclosetconsignment:
He was 88. And I’m only wearing the Halloween mask. It’s not like I’m breaking out my full costume or anything.
Have you gotten any weird reactions to the mask yet?
