Why does “you get what you pay for” only apply to consumers and not employers?

Happy #humpday Sometimes I'm like "I hate my body" and then all of a sudden I think...life is an illusion. I'm floating on a gigantic rock suspended in nothingness, circling a ball of fire; and this could all just be a projection. My body is made up of 7x10^27 atoms and the reason for my existence has still yet to be explained.
