You ought to allow yourself more leisures, you know, Ms. Angela. Life is lovely with lots of leisure time. 

[He laughs at the jab about his taste - pressing a hand to his mouth as his attention roams the clinic’s shelves.] Perhaps that’s it exactly. You’ve hit the nail directly on the head. I don’t care for subtle in the slightest. Better to be hit over the head with something, I say. [He’d just been about to read the label on one of the bottles curiously - hands free, of course, his hands kept politely to himself - when he blinks in surprise at the barrier Angela’s created with her body. And then smiles.] 

Hmm. Understood. ♪ [He takes a step back, instead, putting his hands up quietly in a show of good will.] Then I’ll be out of your hair, with my sincerest apologies for having taken up so much of your time and– floor space. [He grins.] But I’ll be looking forward to that match.

But my work makes me happier than anything really. There's so much more I have to learn about the guild and about medicine. There's no time to waste.

[Scratching her cheek she felt a laugh building in her throat] Yes, well that might be true, perhaps that's it...[At least now she had an idea of why he had asked her. Her enthusiasm was a joke, akin to the fervor of a pastor. But she didn't mind that comparison really, so long as he listened.]

 [Thankful that he had the manners to leave at her shooing him out of the clinic, she realized she was acting more and more like a spoiled child than anything] Yes, yes you heard me, I'm very busy and very pressed for space. We'll talk later!

[Once the blonde was out of the clinic, a tiny exhalation reluctantly left her lips. He was just too much.]

[The rest of the day passed by with barely any notable incidents, just hours and hours of stacking and organizing. Once her shift was over, and she had greeted Lillie, she finally made her way to the Antique shop] I hope you're ready for this, I hope you haven't been practicing all this time, thinking up strategies to beat me.

[Taken aback by the barrage of questions as the door opens, Angela takes a moment to recover her sense of order. Ask about the check up, decline all invitations]

[Coughing into her fist, she waved her other hand in recognition] Er, no thank you. I'm here to ask you about your check up, it seems you're due to have one now. What time this week would be best for you?

[Remembering something, she leaned in closer] And if you feel uncomfortable with the doctor examining you, I'd be more than willing to examine you myself and pass on the information to him for a proper diagnosis.

[Please let her say yes, please let her say yes. This was going to be a thousand times harder if Minori was reluctant.]

Hot and Cold || Lillie&Angela

[ Lillie loves every moment of her work, she really did. After all, she put a lot of effort into learning as much as she could in order to become a meteorologist. She had to work hard to get where she was now, considering she didn’t originally intend to go into this line of work. ]

[ But her favorite part of the day is returning to Oak Tree Town, her always-home and where her family and friends were. She skips through the Trade Depot back into town, admiring the slow setting of the sun and the warm tones it cast across the autumn toned bricks. ]

[ As someone leaves the Guild, she holds the door open for them before heading to lower area near the clinic’s entrance. Of course, her friend is there, as she usually is this time of day now that they’ve begun working in different fields. Still, Lillie loved to catch up with Angela whenever she could. ]

Angela! Good evening! [ Rushes up to her. ] How was your day at the clinic? No one too hurt or overworked, I hope? [ Smiles. ]

Yes, Lillie, I hope your trip went well. Dear you wouldn't believe the day I had, no one got hurt too badly but one of the tourists has allergies and I spent an hour explaining to him what they were... [She rubbed her temples in irritation] It was ridiculous. He was a grown man, he should know.

[With a saucy smile she asked her friend] You know what allergies are, right? You aren't going to waltz into the clinic one day wanting to know all you can about them are you?

Speaking of clinic, [her voice losing its foolish tone altogether and replacing it with a concerned one] Are you feeling well?

“Mature!?” 

Her eyes gleamed with excitement. Not only was this the first time someone had called her such a thing but it didn’t even follow the word ‘not’. A good example would be: ‘not very mature’ or ‘not mature at all’. This in itself was an accomplishment for the girl. 

“You really think so?!”

Amber heard the request to walk a bit slower and turned down the pace. She nodded, keeping a firm grip on her hand. 

“Okay! It’s a pleasure to meet you, Angela!” 

She grinned, continuing forward. 

“Oh! I’m Amber, hehe~ I’ve only been living here currently for a little while. It was a lot different looking before. But, I’ve basically memorized the entire map now!” 

[Hearing the loud happy shouts of the child, Angela was beginning to regret having told her that. Maybe she had been wrong, but there was no going back now] Er, yes. You should have more confidence in yourself.

[Angela nodded, a tiny smile tugging at her lips from how observant this child was] It's nice  to meet you too, Amber.

Mhm, towns change a lot to accommodate new visitors and salesmen and families, it's remarkable really. Have you lived here your whole life?

[Blinks, still grinning obliviously.] Huh? Check on me? Heh, if you just wanted to hang out you didn’t need to think of an excuse, Angela! I’ll always hang out with you!♪

[Sniffles, then moves to scratch his nose and recalls at the same instant that he was holding something as she addresses it.] Oh! Oh, yeah, it ain’t nothing much. See, my little buddy here was crawlin’ on my floor and I figure– well, I’d rather not step on this little guy on accident! So I picked him up to bring him out to the fences!

[Grins proudly, gesturing with his still cupped hands.] Y’see, all the other spiders eat pretty well there!♪

Huh, Oh -- no that's not what I'm here for at all. I'm just here to make sure you haven't done something too careless, like getting caught in a tree or fainting from overwork... [She makes it a point to give him an even sterner look to counteract his grin. She could never tell from his smile, how much of her scoldings were getting through to him.]

[At the mention of 'little buddy' followed by 'crawling' Angela had visions of creepy unsanitary bugs... Butterflies were fine but...Did he say spider?? Her eyes shot open wide as she cringed -- was there anything this boy was afraid of?]

Yes, well, once you put your...little friend down, we can talk about why I'm here. And I suggest you put him down, you have no clue if that thing is poisonous or not.

Healthy Living [Johnny/Angela]

[His day had been about the same as any other in his efforts to learn his way around his farm - and his fumbling through his work (and yes, jumping several fences) had netted him a series of cuts and bruises that Johnny had hoped wouldn’t be too terribly noticable after a quick “shower” under the hose in the backyard.] 

[When he noticed Angela on his walk into town, however, he immediately lit up - a thought popping into the back of his head that he remembered he needed to pass along to her. When she rushed up, he beamed happily - waving to her.] Hey, Angela! I got something to–

Huh? [He paused in delay as she seemed fixated on his arm instead, and he obediently held it out for her to inspect. Oh, that was right– he supposed said maladies were noticeable after all. Especially when the cut had started to bleed fresh since his “shower”. He ducked his head sheepishly at her scolding, smiling the smile of a kid who’s been caught jumping on the bed.] … You weren’t supposed to see that, you know. 

Uhhh– [He blinks, suddenly a little nervous.] Why– is it really bad? [Scratches the back of his head with the other hand.] Do you think I’m– I’m gonna need stitches or something?

In a minute -- [She was too busy making sure he was okay to listen to his question. Just a few cuts, but they were unnecessary. She took a cloth from her pocket and pressed it against the bleeding cut until it stopped.]

[At his statement, she looked up at him, with the most offended look she could muster.] What? While this scrapes aren't too bad, you should still take care of them with something more cleanly than just water. Why I bet you weren't even going to use soap.

[Softening her demeanor, she retrieved a tube of antibacterial cream and smeared a finger point of the gel along his cuts] It might sting a little but this will help. Luckily, it's just a few scratches so you wont need stitches but I do recommend being more careful. [Once the cream was on, she retrieved a bandage from her pocket, opening it with a deftness that only nurses had. Once she was sure that she had done everything for him, she relaxed, no longer as tense as she was before.]

I've always thought you were more prudent than this, Johnny. What happened, or um never mind, what did you want to tell me?

[Mistel pouts immediately at the mention of vegetables. Busted.] I’ve not been exhausting myself in the slightest. I do absolutely nothing that causes me any strain whatsoever. Be that physical or emotional. [He pauses for a second, hesitating - and wonders if he can actually swing “having to eat vegetables” as something that causes him emotional strain - and decides against it, after all. Angela is probably too likely to win that argument.]

[He perks up at the idea of this new game to play in the meantime, however - almost as appealing as chess! Almost.] 

Oh, no, not at all. ♪ Today’s my day off, after all. I’ve got absolutely no duties to speak of and would gladly keep it that way. [He finally allows himself to step into the clinic, letting the door close behind him - glancing around as though letting himself actually see the room he’s been peeking into for the very first time.]

In fact, I gladly welcome both your care and your advice, Ms. Angela– and Dr. Marian’s as well. So long as it doesn’t involve eating disgusting things. [Peers around at the shelves Angela had previously been stocking - then casts her a pleasant smile.] Isn’t that what they make vitamins for, after all?

As do I, however, one can never be too safe. [Turning away from him to return to her work, she sighs hearing the door close and his footsteps growing closer to her.] Lovely. Too bad I do not have that same leisure, at least not until these jars can shelve themselves.

[Looking back at him, she shook her head, an irritated expression on her face] Is that so? Well, you do have a funny way of showing it. Just because the subtle taste of vegetables isn't enough to satisfy your palete doesn't mean that they aren't delicious. In fact, they are the very opposite of disgusting. [She sounded a bit offended but was desperately trying to hide it.]

You can't rely only on vitamins, Mistel. Medicine is good but the real thing is even better. [Walking past him to gather a list of bottles, she held a hand out in front of him, creating a barrier] I don't mind you staying here but try to stay out of the way; the clinic is small enough to begin with and I don't need you adding to that.

Amber plopped her head to the side, confused on why she was apologizing. It wasn’t like she had known how long she slept in the forest. Actually, even she didn’t know how long she was gone. 

“It’s okay, hehe! If you didn’t know there’s no use in dwelling on it, right?” 

She nodded to confirm her sentiment. 

“It happened a long time ago… before I even woke up! So it was a little sad to see everything had changed but there’s not much I can do about it now.”

Poking her two fingers together, she twisted slightly at the mention of Ellie being worried. It was normal for Ellie to feel that way but she only left a few hours ago. Hopefully nothing bad had happened. 

“Hmm~ Ellie’s always worries when I leave! But it’s okay, I promise! I’ll check in in a little while.”

Before she could continue on Ambers antenna’s perked up at the mention of the inn. Even under a hushed tone, she couldn’t refuse helping someone. As if it were her destiny she took the stranger by the hand and began leading her to it.

“Since you were so kind, I’ll taaaake you there!”

[Listening to her story, Angela felt a mix of both pride and sadness. At least she had memories of her parents, this girl was probably an orphan who never knew how much her parents loved her, and yet she was so positive and bright.]

Yes, you're right.. That's actually very mature of you. You have a good head on your shoulders Young Lady~

[Finally turning her attention back to the girl, she felt her body jolt forward as the little girl tugged her along. While she didn't mind being touched, she was surprised this child was so trusting of others and made a mental note to remind her caretaker to instruct her to be more discerning]

 Well, um, thank you but -- perhaps is best if we walk a but slower? You can still hold my hand if it makes you feel better. You can call me Angela, alright?

Healthy Living [Johnny/Angela]

[Minding her own business, Angela was going on a walk for her health of course. Unless she justified the reason for her breaks, she would never leave the clinic.]

[She noticed Johnny nearby and waved to him, her eyes going wide at the tiny cut and bruise on his arm. Rushing over to him, shaking her head she grabbed onto his arm, inspecting it] ...You are absolutely too careless, why I bet you got this from jumping on all those fences, and yes, I've noticed.

You were heading to the clinic for this, correct? Please don't tell me you were going to neglect this were you?

[Taken aback by the statement, she felt a twinge of sadness spark in her. Gentler than usual, she stepped forward a bit closer] I'm very sorry to hear that, I hope you'll forgive me for the statement.

In any case, we really should get you home to Ellie. I'm sure she's worried about you.

[Stepping away, she began to mumble to herself, just barely able to be heard by the other girl]...And after that I need to find the inn I think, it shouldn't be too far, right...? runeflorals

[He hardly moved - though he made sure to put on a very convincing pout at the mention of the two farmers.] Well, I suppose I could have. But Ms. Minori hasn’t come to visit me in quite some time. … And neither has Fritz. [Though this fact bothered him significantly less.] Besides, I invited you very much on purpose, Ms. Angela. I have no doubt at all that you’ll be an excellent opponent.

[Mistel eased back into a smile as she agreed at last, leaning away from the doorframe again.] Wonderful! I look forward to it, then. 

[He had just been prepared to go when he stopped to consider her question, straightening up and pressing the back of his hand to his forehead– as though he might be capable of gauging whether or not he was sick, this way. He wasn’t capable of doing so, of course.] Do I look paler than I ought? It’s not as though “pale” isn’t my default, you know. [He deftly ignores her comment on his eating habits, knowing full well that she’d immediately disapprove of them so long as he was being entirely honest - and instead allowed himself a wide-eyed, innocent smile.]

Why? Are you particularly keen to give me a check-up, Ms. Angela? ♪

[Angela snickered, not so much out of the fact that she was amused but out of her own snobbery. How very childish he could be] Oh but Mistel, friendship is a joint effort. I'm honored to hear you think so highly of me, I just hope you wont hold it against me when I lose.

[Folding her hands over her skirt, she was glad to see that he was thinking for once about his health and not avoiding her comments like some other farmers. At his response, she frowned and looked him over again, turning away from him slightly] Paler than usual? Oh, well no. Not especially at least. Although...

[Hesitating to answer his question, her frown doubled as she tried to discern what he meant by that. Deciding to not let it get to her, she answered calmly, but without warmth]

 Why yes, of course I am, Mistel. After all, your previous checkups show that you likely don't get enough vitamins in your diet, particularly the beneficial and necessary ones that come from vegetables. My job as nurse is to keep everyone healthy and ensure everyone does their best without exhausting themselves.

[ Holding her hands up in defense, she shook her head ] But if you have resigned yourself to avoiding me and Marian's care and advice, then say no more and return to your duties of which, I'm sure, are many.

*Freezes in her tracks. Last time she had checked, she only intended to get a brief check-up and be reassured that she was the picture of health. Sure her throat had other plans, but she wasn’t going to let that stop her* W-What? *Coughs lightly* Ladies do not catch colds; that’s such a gross way of saying it! There are simply… small health setbacks.

But yes, everyone *clears her throat yet again, though this time she can’t seem to keep the volume down* is depending on me! That’s why I need to have it proven that my perfect health is intact~!

[Blinks. In all her years as a nurse, Angela had heard many an excuse but never one quite this vacuous and foolish. If the stars had been aligned, Elise's statement might have earned a chuckle out of Angela, but for today Angela was dead serious.]

Elise, don't be daft. If you are sick, denying your sickness will not make it go away. Having a cold is nothing to be ashamed of, everyone gets them from time to time... [Switches from hot to cold in an instant, her expression unchanging and her tone increasing in severity]Though it does show a touch of carelessness on your part.

[Hesitating, Angela decides against insisting, though the scratchy voice, that was definitely not Elise's, was enough to convince herself that she was right.] Fine, come stand here and hold still. I'm going to examine your throat first.

[Retrieving a tongue depressor, she held out in front of Elise's face, saying:] And say, Aaaaah...!

[Hearing the sound of the door opening, she quickly snaps back to attention, turning to see the farmer. Her eyes immediately focus on the hidden object in his hands though, squint as she might, the shape is unclear. ]

[Glances up only to determine his mood before returning her gaze to his hands ] .... What is that? Er, hello Fritz, yes I did come by to check on you.

...... [Curiously and with more than just a little concern, ] What IS that in your hands...Fritz?

[ Angela hummed a happy but soft tune as she finished gathering various types of medical forms that needed organizing. Glancing up to see Marian waving at her, she waved back and straightened the papers as best she could. Clinic hours were over but a part of her wanted to stay late and finish the filing, while the other part of her knew that Lillie would likely tease her about it. ]

[ With a heavy sigh, she stowed the papers into a manila folder and placed it back in the cabinet, with a sticky note on the front saying that it would be completed first thing tomorrow. Not so much for Marian's knowledge as it was for her own. Locking the clinic doors behind her, Angela watched as people continued to spill in and out of the Guild even at this late hour.]

[Standing in a quieter section of the Guild, she waited for her dear friend Lillie to show up. There was nothing better than a talk with her after a long day, in fact, Angela made it a point to speak to Lillie everyday. It was a small break in her demanding routine and it always left her in a positive mood.]

[Her blunt insistence on professionalism only nets a wider smile from him, especially as she mentions Miss Veronica, of course; Mistel leans his cheek against the door frame, sighing sadly (and insincerely, in a way that doesn’t touch his face). He’s watchful, however - attentive to the way her expression changes when he mentions chess. The corners of his mouth twitch slightly, happily.] 

I thought you seemed the type, Ms. Angela. I have indeed acquired a chess board, yes, a rather nice one that I’m very keen to show off– though I intend to keep it for myself rather than add it to the shop. And I thought perhaps I might come by to suggest you and I play, if you were interested. 

That is - once you’re done being a medical machine, of course. ♪

[With a strained scowl, she pushed her glasses up, squinting at the subtle and untelling expression on Mistel's face.]

Oh, is that so? Surely you could have asked Minori to play with you. Or even better, Fritz.

[Mentally going over her schedule in her head, she counted the things she had to do on her fingers, and then a hand, and then the other. She clears her throat, a softer tone now tugging at her scowl]

Either way, I'm flattered you thought of me and I would enjoy playing a game with you. Though, I hardly think I'll be any real competition considering I haven't played in years but I'm sure you'd have fun beating me either way. I'll meet up with you at the shop once Clinic hours are over.

[Once she was finished, she nodded at him, choosing to ignore his comment about being a 'medical machine.' There was no point in humoring his teasing, in fact she was proud of her work and nothing would diminish her dedication. Not even snide comments from a precocious youth. Turning aside, about to return to her duties, she glanced back]

Before you leave, are you quite sure you're feeling alright? You look a bit  pale, I hope you're eating properly..."

[He mouths the word "dawdling" silently after she says it, his eyebrows shooting for his hairline - despite the fact he hasn't stopped smiling.] You wound me, Ms. Angela. Is it so impossible that a man be perfectly healthy and still seek you out for something other than medicine? Alright, I'll spit it out. [Hesitates, glancing over his shoulder back into the guild foyer, before looking back to her and continuing quietly.] I wanted to ask what your opinion on chess was, actually. If you played.

[At his comment, her eyebrow twitched in a sense of irritation. Though he treated everyone so formal, she couldn’t help but feel as if everything was a game for him, and she was far too busy for games. Speaking bluntly, and paying no mind to tempering her words with a smile, she dismissed his question]

No. Absolutely not, I’m a nurse. This is my job. I provide information on medicine, not on anything else and, as a result, there’s no need for anyone to ask me about anything else. Though if you have questions about the guild, I could try but I suggest you ask my mother er – Miss Veronica…

[Huffing, her gaze switched from Mistel to the entrance, wondering what he had to say that was so private that he felt the urge to make sure no one was listening in. Just as she was about to suggest stepping out, she was stopped by his question. A mix of nostalgia and sadness struck her features] Oh… I use to play it with my father when I was younger. Did you get a new chess board in stock?
