Slavic mythology: Vila
She possesses the face of a beautiful maiden, but her powers go beyond those of a mortal girl. She was once a frivolous maid, but in the afterlife, she commands the winds and delights in the wicked gales that pump loud storms. She presides in the clouds and the wilderness and the grass; anywhere where this daughter of fairy-creatures can run free and dance and feel a breeze billowing her cloak. Her every breath is a sweet-smelling zephyr. She is Vila.

Živa (also Żywia, Zhyva, Sieba, Razivia or Siva) was the Slavic goddess of love and fertility. She was worshipped throughout what is now Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Germany (and especially the Elbe (Labe) river valley), before Christianity expanded into the area. Her name means “living, being, existing”. Sieba’s consort was Siebog, her male equivalent. Živa is mentioned in the Baptism on the Savica, an epic poem by the Slovene national poet France Prešeren.
Vila are a version of nymphs from Slavic Mythology. They are always female, and rather fairy-like, and rather beautiful. It is believed that they are the spirits of frivolous young women who after their untimely deaths now float between this world and the afterlife.
They live in the forests, mountains, and other places of wilderness, and have some power over nature. For instance, they can cause storms, which they delight in doing.
As beautiful as they are, Vila are not be messed with. These lovely maidens are also fierce warriors. They are also known for taking revenge on those that deceive them (particularly men). Another offence would be to trespass onto Vila land, for bad luck will shortly befall any that dared.
The Vila are not all-powerful though: Plucking a hair from a Vila may kill her, and if you are able to get close enough to take a portion of her skin, she will fall under your control. Burning that skin would then also kill the Vila.
These beautiful creatures were often given offerings such as round cakes, ribbons, flowers, and fresh fruit, as a way of appeasing them, and being spared from their wrath.
