Dambulla Cave Temple or Golden Temple of Dambulla (දඹුලු ලෙන් විහාරය, தம்புள்ளை பொற்கோவில்): Central Sri Lanka. 

The caves of the Golden Temple of Dambulla date back to the 2nd and 3rd century BC, at which point in time it was already a well established and large monastery.  It is still functional and is one of the best preserved ancient sites in Sri Lanka.
