Exam time again. Physics be physicsing
Nothing makes me want to do evil science more than people who are like "STEM students have no moral compass unless you FORCE them to take ethics classes and humanities classes they're so base and culturally illiterate" like I will personally make the giant fucking space laser to zap you i swear to god
Can you make a post romanticising biology, chemistry and physics please?
the biology, chemistry, and physics student ༉‧₊˚.
staying up late finishing all your assignments and deadlines
living on caffeine and never more than 6 hours of sleep
desk cluttered with mugs, once filled with coffee and tea
an accurate hand, drawing and calculating all your thoughts and theories onto paper
running into class barely on time, hair in a state, outfit just-about put together
bag overflowing with papers and calculations
textbooks scattered with tabs and annotations
mail box filled, every notification receives your signature eye roll
your work is too important
living for your achievements, trying to find a way to the undiscovered lands
bookshelves lined with books detailing all your interests
reading Frankenstein every year
listening to chaotic classical music while you work, finding comfort in the changing notes
constantly thinking things through
ranting to your walls about your discoveries or theories
finding art in the exact, and finding the exact in art
Thank you for the ask! <3
340 - physics of weather and climate
understanding the atmosphere in three dimensions
walking or biking to class
representing the movement of the air in equations
integrating physics and thermochemistry
understanding the chemical composition of the climate
predicting precipitation and cloud types from the daily temperature
feeling the cyclic patterns of convection
watching temperature and humidity patterns
taking soft, pretty notes in slate grey and cornflower blue
Visit to AirBus for the UKSEDS Satellite Design Competition. Mars Rover test room, CubeSat at uni, and vaccum test chamber :)
Had a great week at Diamond Light Source during my summer studentship.
Gotta love a 6pm fields lecture
Anyone else going to PLANKS this weekend?
I'm definitely gunna die in the 4 hour exam😅
Had a good winter community garden session during the last weekend at uni
Learning orbit simulation stuff before going back to uni. Can't wait to get back!!!
A mad scientist themed moodboard requested by @r3animat0r
Today's study setup. Trying to cover everything before my exams start in 3 weeks time. I go back to uni on Saturday 😁
the astronomy students
drawing your own star charts
staying up late to watch a meteor shower
constellations painted on your ceiling
tracking the planets, noting their paths in a pocket-sized journal
an old wool scarf wrapped around your neck to keep out the cold
marveling over photographs of distant galaxies
retelling the stories of Orion and Cassiopeia
the glittering expanse of a cloudless night sky
moonlight shining through gauzy curtains
driving somewhere remote to see the milky way, far from the light pollution of the city
looking for your place in the cosmos
finding comfort in the vastness of the universe, in your own comparative insignificance
a model of the solar system resting on your desk
old sci-fi novels with battered covers
studying the contributions of Copernicus and Al-Battani and Kepler
watching the moon wax and wane
your favorite blanket wrapped around your shoulders
maps of the constellations, illustrated with figures from the associated myths
wondering about life on other worlds
memorizing the constellations, noting how their positions move as the seasons change
a thermos of hot tea
stargazing with friends, gazing up and watching for shooting stars
learning the physics of stars and planets
a fascination with the unknown
unfortunaely i will be destroying your city with my beam please dont be a hater about it
Have been trying to write my lab report on X-ray diffraction. I found a book that looked like it explained the chemistry in physics terms, but there is so much maths that I don't understand yet😭
Hopefully I will be able to find something that makes sense to me soon😅
Term was so chaotic. I'm going home for Easter today, but in terrorfied of exams starting when I'm back.
Hopefully I haven't forgotten everything from September....
I took my bike out along the canals and the river trent yesterday. Its good to be back in Nottingham
Lectures are starting again properly on Monday :)
