StudioFest is an afternoon event of fine Art, Food, and Music all centered around spotlighting local and Atlanta-based businesses, galleries, artists, and artisans at the StudioPlex in the Old 4th Ward neighborhood of Atlanta, GA. June 30 from 1-8 p.m.

In addition to handling shirts for local events and businesses, Fallen Arrows also helps artists get their work onto shirts and other gear.

One of STUDIOFEST's primary sponsors, Modern Now Gallery, has been tirelessly working along with its interns and employees to put together STUDIOFEST. 

As a driving force in the planning, creation, and organization of STUDIOFEST, Modern Now has been instrumental in being the glue that holds the festival together.

Their space in the Studioplex is nestled in between ABV and Janke Studios, in addition to hosting emerging and established contemporary artist's work, Modern Now also has an extensive collection of art books and journals, new and vintage.

Artist Jason Thomas of Red Rocket Farm has a color-popping, animation-like paining style that recalls saturday morning cartoons. His playful characters have goofy personalities that come to life off his paintings.

We are super excited here at STUDIOFEST to have Jason and all his creations from the Red Rocket Farm as a part of our artist market.

Jason, who had a job as a creative director, felt like his creativity was getting stifled at his job. To release his artistic drive, Jason would doodle throughout the day and create many of the characters that adorn his paintings now.

Jason will also have some really cool T-shirts at his booth on Saturday.

"The reason we got into doing T-shirts was that there were times where people would like the designs or characters on my painting, but they weren't the kind of person to buy paintings. When I was in college, I wasn't really the kind of person to buy paintings either. But if I liked an artist and they had T-shirts I would usually buy them because I have a torso and always have room for a T-shirt (Laughs)," Jason says.

All the tees are printed by Jason and his team at the house, and they also print T-shirts for other local artists as well.

In addition to having some great paintings and clothes, Jason has a fun practice at his booth during events: Free Drawings for Total Strangers. Basically he will pose questions to anyone at the festival and then create a free drawing for them on the spot. "I'm really addicted to hearing stories, I love hearing about people's lives...So I'll ask someone a couple of questions, 'What's your favorite kitchen appliance?' or 'When you were growing up is there anything that you were scared of?' And then I make a cartoon out of their answers, and I've made thousands of them,"Jason says.

If you've ever had a nightmare after staying up all night long watching horror movies, then chances are you've probably seen the art work artist Aaron Crawford. 

Aaron will have a booth in the artist market at STUDIOFEST this Saturday, but he is already  a familiar face around Studioplex.

"I've been working with ABV a lot recently, I met Greg, the owner and he got me involved there with the Fear and Loathing show. And I've been involved with Drink and Doodle and some other projects there ever since. And when I saw that Studiofest was getting put together and decided to try and get involved," Aaron says.

Aaron's work adorned all the promotional material for the Fear and Loathing show, you might recognize his signature drippy, grimey, gooey, and fluid style.

"I love watercolor, I grew up messing around with it because my mom was an artist too," he says.

In addition to his work, Aaron will have t-shirts for sale from his clothing company called Cavity Colors. His signature style looks just as good on paper as it does on a t-shirt.

Aaron is also involved with a project called Color Ink Book. "This is basically a coloring book for adults that features the work of tons of low-brow artists like myself including a lot of people I look up too," Aaron says.
