Overview of some topics when it comes to drawing characters who are burn survivors.
DISCLAIMER. Please keep in mind that this is an introductory overview for drawing some burn scars and has a lot of generalizations in it, so not every “X is Z” statement will be true for Actual People. I'm calling this introductory because I hope to get people to actually do their own research before drawing disabled & visibly different characters rather than just making stuff up. Think of it as a starting point and take it with a grain of salt (especially if you have a very different art style from mine).
Talking about research and learning... don't make your burn survivor characters evil. Burn survivors are normal people and don't deserve to be constantly portrayed in such a way.

How are people seeing this post where I specifically talk about burn survivors being normal, real people, and still tag this as "TW body horror"? Not a single one of these drawings or pictures is a fresh injury. All of them are healed. How the hell would you feel if someone tagged a photo of you as "trigger warning: gore"?
Disabled people are not your fucking body horror. Grow up.

He enrolled at the University of Al Azhar to pursue his dream of studying medicine. Growing up in Gaza, he witnessed the significant role and urgent need for doctors firsthand, shaping his aspiration to become a physician.
Excitement filled him as he embarked on his journey, but as life often proves, not all dreams come to fruition easily. Just a few weeks into his first semester, his hopes were shattered when his university, and home along with his dreams were bombed and shattered before his eyes.
We are now reaching out with a request; to raise the necessary funds to help him escape the nightmare he is enduring and to enable him to continue pursuing his dream of becoming a doctor. Your donation to Abdulrahman will not only save a life but also support a promising future.
He has endured horrible conditions and unimaginable hardship for nearly four months. Every day in Gaza feels like dodging bullets, with no food, clean water, electricity, or proper medical care since October. He has witnessed destruction and death, heard the constant explosions of bombs day and night, been exposed to white phosphorus, and lost every last thing he owns.
As conditions worsen and Abdulrahman life threatened daily, this is an urgent plea for help. Your contribution isn't merely a donation; it's a lifeline of hope and a statement of humanity's capacity for compassion in the most dire of circumstances.

Update on my friend Amani from Gaza! Things are getting very dire and she has asked me once again to relay her story to you in the hopes that you will be able to help her and her family.
Amani is a 32 year old mother of 3 boys. Originally from the north of Gaza, their home was completely taken away from them by Israeli bombardment and they were forced to evacuate to the south.
Currently, Amani's family has had to evacuate 5 times and is forced to live in a tent with even the barest necessities unavailable to them. Her children are deprived of nutritious food and clean water as well as medicine and healthcare. And everyday they are at risk of losing their lives whether it is to illness or to the Israeli heavy artillery.
