Another post on mythology.
This hand seal Gojo make for his domain expansion is a mudra associated with Teishakuten (帝釈天) or Sakra. Sakra in Sankrit means “mighty” or “powerful”.
Sakra is also known with another name, which is Indra. Since I’m more familiar with Hindu text, I will be elaborating more leaning on Indra.
Indra is the King of Gods in the Hindu mythology. He is comparable to Zeus, Jupiter, or Thor in European mythologies. He is god of myriad form of powers, like thunder, rain, storm, and also war. He is celebrated as hero god who defeated a symbol of great evil, the Asura Vritra. He also fathered Arjuna, who is the main hero in the Mahabharata epic.
All these are partially fitting for Gojo, who is simply the strongest in the jujutsu world.
Interestingly, in Buddhism, Sakra is often depicted as pair or side-by-side with Brahma (known as 梵天 (Bonten) in Japan), both are known as Dharmapala or protectors of Buddhism - different from Hindu text where he is depicted as Trimurti with Shiva and Vishnu. Brahma himself is the heavenly king and the leading god in Buddhism. While in Hinduism Brahma is known as the creator god, in Buddhism he is known to lord over the realm of rebirth.
In addition, Brahma is also linked to the cosmic egg in the creation mythology of Hindu.
Rebirth. Egg. Creation. With those motifs, obviously only one character comes to mind.
