TIP: How not to email your professor
Suppose you fold a paper in half 103 times
Try folding a piece of paper 103 times; it would be thicker than the universe. At 42 folds you'd already reach the moon!

Does Student Loan Debt Make People Less Happy and Healthy?
People with student debt report worse health and greater financial stress long after they finish their degree, a new study from Gallup shows.

Do People Only Use 10 Percent of Their Brains?
[...] that humans "only" employ 10 percent of their brain. If only regular folk could tap that other 90 percent, they too could become savants who remember π to the twenty-thousandth decimal place or perhaps even have telekinetic powers.
Well, here's to the other 90%: http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/do-people-only-use-10-percent-of-their-brains/
In the US, “personalized learning” is what I think of as a head-nodder phrase. Sprinkle the word into virtually any conversation or speech regarding education, and you’ll typically see at least a handful of heads nodding in the room in happy agreement. While some might view this as positive...
We like to think we're rational human beings.
But you are not. Really, not even close! Check out this overview of proven biases that cause you to think and act irrationally.

How to pin your teacher in the room
Use the Power of the Verplanck Effect:
Go to lecture one day and whenever the lecturer goes to one side of the room have everyone in the class smile. When the lecturer goes to the opposite side of the room, have everyone frown. Ideally, you can have a sort of “gradient” of smiles. More people smile as the lecturer gets closer to the area you want them in. By the end of lecture, the lecturer will be pinned to the side of the room that everyone was smiling at and not even realize it.
So, round up your mates and go go go: http://wxtp.wordpress.com/2014/04/21/interesting-pschological-experiment-verplanck-effect/

It appears that embedding new learning in long-term memory requires a process of consolidation, in which memory traces (the brain’s representations of the new learning) are strengthened, given meaning, and connected to prior knowledge—a pro cess that unfolds over hours and may take several days. Rapid fire practice leans on short-term memory. Durable learning, however, requires time for mental rehearsal and the other processes of consolidation. Hence, spaced practice works better. The increased effort required to retrieve the learning after a little forgetting has the effect of retriggering consolidation, further strengthening memory.
Time you enjoy wasting is not wasted.

College instructor spent months teaching class the 'wrong' course
To find out that the instructor was teaching an advanced course instead of the advertised introductory course. At the end of the semester. Straight- A, 4.0 grade point average ruined.
