Improve your productivity by setting alarms.
I have 6 different daily alarms I use as a way to check in on myself and to stay focused throughout the day. It is much fun if you label your alarms too :)
The 5am alarm (Start your day!): Whatever it may be for you, but this is the alarm that wakes me up from sleep and through maintaining a regular sleep schedule I feel very ready to get out of bed and start my day. By exercising and writing.
The 7am alarm (Eat that Frog!): This alarm is a reminder to face that giant in you. This means doing that thing you have been procrastinating or working on a habit you want to strengthen. For me, it is a time to go on a long walk. Figure out what you would like to do and designate this alarm to it.
The 10am alarm (How are you this morning?): I have an alarm label how are you doing this morning, and when it goes off, I start reflecting on how my day is going. If I could not journal earlier on, I would use the opportunity to write down my thoughts and feelings.
The 2pm alarm (How are you this afternoon)? This alarm is the most important of all alarms because around this time I am less motivated to work, my energy levels are lower and I am not keeping up with time. Often, I am mindlessly scrolling through pinterest then the alarm goes off and I am forced to quickly set my phone down, take a deep breath, and relax. The reason is that we often don't keep track of time and then we are shocked that half of our entire afternoon was spent on social media.
The 6pm alarm (How are you this evening): I usually use this as a reminder to finish up any tasks that I have at hand, maybe plan for tomorrow, check in with myself, eat dinner, call my friend, watch a movie. Do laundry, cook, or dance.
The 9pm alarm (You did it!): This is a reminder to begin winding down, journalling, night time routine, reflection or whatever seems to make you calm as you about to go to bed. If possible write a gratitude note.
Reminder: This is not tailored to anyone, pick what works best for your situation and lifestyle. You do not need to have 6 alarms to have a great day. Alarms are for those you would love a reminder to either sit right, read a book, journal. You can label your alarms whatever you like. Read this article with discernment!

Glow up tips/ideas
Here’s my little guide how to glow up in your life:
First, get your life together:
Organise and clean your home -Having clean home will make you feel better and lighter and therefore you will be more positive.
Have a life admin day -Write down all the stuff that needs to be done, all the appointments you need to get and everything that needs to be fixed. Then schedule in a day every month or every two weeks when you tick off these thing off your list.
Do your damn laundry
Create routines -They can be long and strict or short and very opened
Fight procrastination in all the ways you can
Take your mediaction and have regular health check ups
Now it’s time for mental health:
Make sure you eat and drink water regularly
Get a therapist if you feel like you need/want one
Practise your hobbies or find new ones
Listen to your favourite music
Meditate
Create a happy atmosphere for yourself -Buy plants and flowers, let your favourite music play in the background, let in as much ligh as you can.
Warm beverages
Be as positive as you can
Try to complain less
Don’t talk shit about people, especially not behind their back -You spread negative energy and hurt yourself in the process.
Say nice things to people, compliment them as much as you can -Being nice to poeple will affect your own mood for the better.
Talk about what you love, not what you hate
Get enough fresh air.
Glow up your mind!:
Read more books -Does not matter the genre
Watch movies and series
Learn new language -Even if it’s just a few words
Watch documents
Talk to people smarter than you
Try learning random fact every day
Find a new hobby
Think of ways to make your life better and help your surrounding -Minimalism? Zero waste? Vegetarian? It depends on you.
Find a new friend
Help people
And lastly the physical glow up:
Find out how much sleep you need and stick to it -Usually 8 hours are the norm
Play around with make up -You will fail and it might look wonky from the beginning. And maybe you won’t even like it. I want you to experiment.
Make sure to go make-up-less sometimes if you wear it often
Drink water -It won’t magically clear your skin completely but it will get better.
Wash your face in the morning and in the evening, but no soap if possible
Use as little skin products as you can -Sometimes less is more.
Lip balm
Eat vegetables every day -Every. single. day. It’s the best thing I have ever done for myself.
Eat oatmeal -It did wonders for my hair.
Stretch regularly
Exercise -Find something you have fun doing and do it as often as possible.
Avoid food with too much grease and sugar -You can have it but try to reduce it.
Prepare your outfit the night before -It gives you time to think about what you’ll wear and it’s nice to have it ready in the morning.
Get clothes you feel good and confident in
Get your dream hair colour! -Get crazy if you want
Learn to be comfortable with your body
Don’t shower every day -I know, I know… but listen… It’s actually much healthier for your skin to shower every other day and wash your hair even less. Plus it saves a lot of water.
Get a perfume -Have a scent
Get enough sun -You don’t have to be tan but getting sun on your skin is very healthy and it’s visible in other ways than tan.
Smile and spread joy
If you’re happy, show it -It’s contagious
Remember that beauty comes from within. That is why I put these tips in that order.
I hope I helped and have a great year!

M, 504k, wangxian, 3zun, 18 works, series in progress
Summary: Wei Ying and Lan Zhan bond after meeting Lan Yi, and Lan Zhan keeps Wei Ying from getting expelled when Jin Zixuan insults Jiang Yanli. They’re betrothed by the end of lectures at Cloud Recesses.
Multiple marriage alliances among the great clans make Wen Ruohan reconsider indoctrination. His attack on Lotus Pier fails, turned back by a united eastern front, and Jiang rallies around its First Disciple.
This is a series about everything going right: in the novel, donghua, and web series, with occasional manhua references. It includes dragonji, foxxian, adopted and biological babies, and a Yiling Wei sect based on dual cultivation.
My comments: A happy fix-it! Author’s voices for wwx and lwj are SPOT ON PERFECTION. So good. I love their characterizations, which manage to be both consistent and also mature as they boys grow.
I ADORE how Author just threw in everything and the kitchen sink and manages to pull it off so well. We start with wwx cluing in to the magical forehead ribbon marriage because suddenly the Lan Sect magic is letting him go places he couldn’t before… and that wheels, over the next 400k words, into an early marriage, political world-building, relationship growth, ALL KINDS OF FAMILY FEELS including siblings and ALL the parents (and all their mistakes and regrets and not-being-dead). And. AND. Accidental magical events that may or may not spawn babies, shapeshifting powers for many, and reveal intriguing inheritances. Plus the mild telepathy wangxian share. Because dual cultivation is a thing they’re practically inventing. Along with cultivating (and managing) resentful energy. The cultivation world has no idea what’s hit them. But they’re fascinated. (And so am I!)

my quick tips for working / studying from home
- get dressed and style your hair as if you’re going to school/work - even use the same perfume/ cologne as you normally do (trick your mind into being motivated)
- plan things out - everything (plan out your week, day, meal, etc. you can make these as specific as you’d like. this will help you stay on top of your work as well as stay healthy, especially if you live alone.)
- make studying/ working the first thing you do each day - best if you can start in the morning (minimize the tendency to procrastinate)
- just start - don’t worry too much about perfecting or finishing anything yet (if you don’t start then there’s nothing for you to perfect or get done. and it will never get done)
- listen to old and simple (aka non-distracting) podcasts, Youtube videos, or café/ chattering white-noise, etc. simply leave them as background noise to create an illusion of being outside your room (bring the presence of people to you. my favorites lately have been slam poems from 2016, Mae Martin’s stages, and Awsten Knight’s crackhead podcasts)
- set timers, for both study sessions and breaks (so that you don’t overwork, burn out, or procrastinate. the Pomodoro technique works great here)
- take advantage of the comfort of your own home (light a candle, have crunchy snacks, play loud music, review notes out loud while pacing around, wrap yourself in a blanket burrito, study on your bed if you can focus there like me, etc. basically anything you can’t do in a classroom, office, or the library)
- if you miss your friends, call/ text/ facetime them, make a study group chat with them, etc. (that is what technology is for)
- choose recreational activities/ self-care for your breaks instead of going on social media (go on walks, make small art, play an instrument, stretch, take a nap, etc. I usually reach for my guitar, brainstorm writing ideas, or sketch very simple line art.)
- if you want to go on social media, do it during meal times - or the 15 minutes after your meals that you can’t work just yet (it also doesn’t make you feel like you’re wasting time)
- study in different rooms for a change of scenery (dining room, living room, the patio, etc. I have an armchair next to the window that I study in whenever I need some sunlight and don’t have to write anything down. however, if you need a designated place to focus on your work, you can also use these alternative spaces as designated “relax” or “creative” place for your breaks)
- use this as an opportunity to take care of yourself (get enough sleep, drink water, exercise, talk to your family, take your meds, be mindful of your mental health, etc.)
Feel free to add your tips. The current situation sure is unpleasant but it is unavoidable. All we can really do now is take care of ourselves, others, and try to make the best out of this.
Good luck to everyone and stay safe! My heart is with you all 💕
hello!! as an online college student, i’ve been lucky enough to already have some experience with online schooling, so i’m here to offer all my advice for the students of quarantined schools! due to the covid-19 outbreak, it’s been very difficult for many who’ve had to switch to online school. however, there are many way to make it simpler and faster, and i’m here to give my best tips!!
firstly, make a list. whether you’re more comfortable with a physical to-do list or a virtual calendar to schedule things out (i’ve used google calendar almost my whole life but i just got the app elisi and it’s beautiful, minimalist, and easy to use! available on pretty much every device). planning out your work is the most efficient way to get it done.
don’t try to do everything at once. while it’s best to get things done soon, space out your work efficiently so you don’t feel overwhelmed!
create a simple, comfortable study space. it doesn’t have to be a perfectly organized desk or gorgeous setup at the kitchen table; i do all of my college work from my bed with a comfy throw blanket and fairy lights up. the most important thing is that you are in the right position to do work, you are comfortable, and that you are able to keep everything you need close to you.
work in chunks. to best knock out your work, take it an hour at a time with 10 to 15 minute breaks in between. make some tea, get a snack, stay energized.
drink lots of water. you are not immune to the coronavirus. it’s also easier to stay energized and focused when you’re hydrated.
MOST IMPORTANTLY: COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR INSTRUCTORS. at first i was very timid to communicate back and forth with my professors when something was wrong but i have learned that it is the most important thing to have good communication. if you don’t understand a concept, have trouble with the online system, or just need general help in your academics, sending them an email is the best way to solve the problem.
reward yourself!! once you’ve finished an assignment, give yourself a little treat (maybe a half hour of minecraft or your favorite snack to munch on!!)–it’s the best way to encourage your mind to work harder.
don’t work too late. you’re off from school. unless it’s the night of the due date, don’t push yourself until it’s done. the morning is just a sleep away.
these are some good playlists for background music.
another important tip! communicate with your classmates in case you don’t understand something. everybody learns differently and some pick up info different than others.
make fancy notes!! get fancy with your stationery!! you have plenty of time now and can go bonkers with your beautiful notes.
continue to check your temperature and monitor symptoms. your school has closed for a reason. your safety and health are important.
retain a relatively normal sleep schedule, similar to the one you have when you normally go to school. slipping out of your regular sleep cycle can and will kick your ass when it’s time to go back.
lastly, eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner. take a nap when you’re tired. remember to go to the bathroom and keep your water filled. take care of yourself.
if i think of anything else to add, i will!! just wanted to bring forth my advice in hopes that it benefits anybody who is at home b/c of quarantine or school cancellation :)
Online class study tips
Now that we're in quarantine and we're all stuck in our houses, it can be easy to feel like we're on break. It can be easy to get distracted and leave everything for the last minute(especially when a lot of us already do that😂). However, here are some tips to help ourselves get by:
Establish a study schedule similar to the one you had when you were in college or school. If you dedicate the time you used to spend in the classroom to doing the homework, essays and other assignments, it might feel a lot easier.
Make a study playlist or find one in Spotify. This might not work for everyone because a lot of people get distracted when they listen to music, but it's always good to experiment. It also helps to change the type of music you're listening to depending on the work you're getting done.
Reward yourself. After you're done, eat something nice, watch a tv show, spend some time with family if you like, call someone. Whatever you please.
Have a nice and cozy environment for studying. Be in an ambiance you like.
Alternate between the subjects you like best and the ones you like the least. However that looks like for you. If I can't seem to pay attention, I do my favorite ones first in order to get my mind on track. If I'm very stressed, I normally get the thing I'm stressed about done first. It really depends on each individual and their circunstances.
If it's one of those days when you barely feel in the mood to even stand up, just do a little bit. Even if it's just writing down one sentence in an essay or reading the introduction of a book.
Look up different studying techniques. Maybe they'll work for you.
Call a friend or classmate so you can get the work done together and it'll feel a little easier. This can be a huge difference.
That's what I have so far. Might be posting more later.
my “sort-of-complete” online classes and exams tips
This is a longer-than-usual post with tips for the 3 stages of online classes: focusing during an online class session, reviewing/studying for online classes, and preparing for online exams/ quizzes. So I decided to insert the “Read More” link to (a) not take up too much space on your dash, and (b) feel more confident in adding more tips as time goes on.
These are tips that I’ve compiled from my experience of taking online classes during my last 1.5 years at university. But having all of your courses moved online is so much more complicated. Since I’m currently doing an internship, I have tried my best to produce this post based on the comments of my friends IRL and on Tumblr (hence the “my”). However, I hope it can still be useful for you and many who were all abruptly put in this same situation.
So feel free to share your own tips and experience! I will probably go back to this once in a while to make some changes to it and add your tips. Good luck to everyone who is currently/ about to take online classes. You are almost there! 🍀 I believe in every single one of you!

Tips for Doing Online Classes
I know a lot of us have had our schools switched to an online format so here are some tips to succeed in online classes! I’ve taken a few courses online before all of this but I’m still figuring things out, so if you have any more tips please comment them so I can add them to the list!
Use a system to keep track of due dates and other important info
I would keep using your planner or bullet journal if you already use one, and if you don’t already have a system now is the perfect time to set something up! There are a lot of tutorials and ideas out there on how to turn a simple notebook into a useful productivity system that could save your grades
Check your email (and any sites where class info would be updated) regularly
If you need have a hard time remembering to check, you could try setting reminders on your phone. I recommend checking email 2x per day (more often on important days where there might be more updates, like around finals and such) since then you’ll get all the info you need without constantly worrying about it
Don’t be afraid to reach out and email your professor for help. Just because you’re not physically in the same room as them doesn’t mean they aren’t there for you!
Work at a specific “school” space if possible
For example, working at a desk or table instead of in bed can be really helpful in being productive and feeling more normal
If you’re the kind of person —like me— who thrives with a bit more structure, create a daily routine for yourself
This could be as detailed or vague as you want it to be, but just having a general plan can be really useful in keeping yourself on track and getting everything done each day. I’ll make some more posts about this soon if you need help with this!
Figure out if you work best with taking notes online or on paper, and keep doing that even for the online classes
If you know you like taking notes in a physical notebook, then keep doing that! It can feel like you should just take notes online since the classes are online, but you really don’t have to! Stick with whatever systems work best for you. This also goes for other things like physical books vs. ebooks, Quizlet flashcard sets vs. paper flashcards, etc.
Work on school-related tasks for a minimum amount of time per day
I like setting 3 hours as the daily minimum for me to work on schoolwork, since it’s not an intimidating amount of time for me but also doesn’t feel overwhelming. Plus you can always keep working if needed! This can also vary depending on how old you are, since people who are in middle school or high school might need less time to work on schoolwork than college students, it all just depends on you and your workload
While working on schoolwork (especially while watching video lectures) put your phone away and stay off social media on your computer
There are a bunch of apps and browser extensions to help you block certain sites while on your computer (I use the Chrome extension StayFocusd or the app SelfControl) and I definitely recommend using an app like Forest for your phone if you have a hard time staying off of it
Try to do submit of your assignments and exams at least an hour ahead of time (ideally more, give yourself as much time as possible!) in case you have tech issues
If you’re having a hard time understanding a concept, try to find other resources to help you (online tutor, Khan Academy, YouTube, etc.)
Make time to take care of your mental health (meditate, journal, etc.) as well as your physical health (yoga, dancing, go for walks, etc.)
Ensure that both of these important aspects of health are addressed every day, even if it’s something small
Let me know if you want me to elaborate on any of these for a future post! I’d love to make more content about online classes since so many of us are in similar situations
What have you found to be helpful with taking online classes?
Tips for Online Classes
I have been taking online classes every year for the last 5 years, at both the high school and university level, so I thought I would make a post with some quick tips for succeeding in online classes!
Make sure you know what time things are due. Obviously, knowing the date is important too, but when you are using an online dropbox, knowing the time it’s due is crucial. The link will disappear on you. I once almost failed an online class because I thought my assignment was due at 9PM, but it was actually due at 9AM!
Email the prof with your questions. It’s a lot harder to a prof to know you or like you with an online class. You can’t get their attention by just showing up, because they can’t see you! This is what saved my ass in the above story… I had contacted the prof many times throughout the semester, so he accepted my assignment late anyways.
Schedule a time to complete each module. There is no specific lecture time, obviously, which is nice but also makes it easier to fall behind. I recommend choosing one day a week that you use to complete the week’s activities, and can then forget about it for the week.
Participate in small activities, even if they are only worth 1-2%. If something is easy marks, you should always do it, especially in online classes where sometimes participating in a discussion can take 3 minutes and get you a 1% mark.
Remember what the prof can see. For example, don’t get heated on a discussion board that is moderated by the prof. Remember that the prof can see what you have completed on your checklist (what links you have clicked on) and how much time you spent online. In high school, I knew a girl who lost 10% of her mark because her teacher found out she was completing weeks of material in one sitting.
Start by signing up for one online course to try it out. I really like online classes and try to take one each semester. It definitely has it’s benefits, but some people hate it. Don’t decide to do an entire semester or half your classes online if you’ve never taken an online course before. See how you like it first!
In the same vein, for your first online course, take something you are comfortable with. If you struggle with math, maybe don’t go with math for an online course. You are already dealing with a new learning environment and an unfamiliar interface, so piling “extremely confusing content” on top of that is probably going to be a bit much.
Still buy the textbook and do the readings. Just because it is online, doesn’t mean that you don’t have to do readings! Also, because you can’t ask questions in real time, the textbook is a great resource if you don’t understand lectures.
Know who/how to ask for help. I mentioned above that the textbook is a great resource, but you may need more than that. Figure out who your specific content is for questions, if there is a discussion board for questions, if there are secondary texts, and/or if there are any linked websites the prof said would be helpful!
Hope this helps! Feel free to reblog and add your own. :)
Thoughts on online classes/entirely online degrees?
Sure! Here are some tips for online classes:
Sure! Here are some tips for online classes:
you must motivate yourself! self-direction is key
set aside study and work time just like any other class
work at a desk/table, not your bed
make sure credits are transferable
don’t skip the readings
is there any way to get feedback on your work, such as a virtual classroom or message board with faculty?
don’t brush it off as an easy A
make sure your program is accredited and is actually degree-granting
it will be hard to work full time and take a full online degree, but a class or two could be manageable
Good luck!– Mimi
