The Vaults Are Calling
( h-jack-69 )
A few weeks ago, Tannis had found an odd little device in a town she had mistakenly got lost in. Now she had returned to her little home in Sanctuary and was examining it, trying to find out what it was and who it belonged to. There was no name,no inscription, nothing apart from a tiny scrawled Vault symbol on one face of it to tell her what it could possibly be.
It had tone some more information on the Vault. Something she overlooked. She was never someone to overlook important details, but this had the symbol and that meant it had to have some connection. It didn’t make sense otherwise.
Seeing no other logical conclusion, she plugged the drive into her ECHO and stared at the screen, waiting for something to happen. Nothing at first.
Blue binary code. Almost as if it was glitching.
As if the code was trying to create something. What could it be??
Luckily for Tannis, she finds Professor Nakayama’s ID drive encoded with Handsome Jack’s AI. It was activated after he met his demise in the Vault of the Warrior and he remained sleeping. When she plugs it into the ECHO device, Jack stirs.
Now he doesn’t want to wake up, he was perfectly comfortable having the best sleep of his entire life. When he starts to form and digistruct from the ECHO, he rubs his eyes before staring at her before smirking.
“Sup.”
The ECHO was trying to digistruct something, and once a digistruction had started it was nigh impossible to stop. Whoever ID drive belonged to previously, it must have been someone important to have digistruction codes on it.
She nearly jumped back into a nenearby desk when she saw that it was a holographic person that materialized before her in customary ECHO blue colors. Not a real physical person but it had some form of sentience.
Tannis had the oddest feeling she met this person somewhere before, but couldn't place where she had seen it or who exactly it was.
“I know your face.”
He patted his arm, freshly bandaged. "Thank god for doctors." He said, chuckling. He wasn't watching where he was going, bumping into someone on the street. "Oop, sorry."
Tannis was just heading over to Moxxi’s to grab something to eat when she bumped into someone. Her face paled and she took off back to the Crimson Raider Headquarters. She just barely saw blue tattoos on the man before she was filled with anxiety at being so close to him and had to seek solace in the building down the way from Zed’s clinic.
"Well, I wouldn’t mind that cup of tea. There’re a lot crazier people on this planet." He said, smiling gently. Thankfully he didn’t have pupils, otherwise she might have noticed him looking her up and down.
Tannis could feel herself blushing and looked away at the door not knowing how to respond to his comment. “That may well be true Legend.”
"I dunno why people think yer a crazy scientist. I just see a normal lady." He said, shrugging. He picked up just barely on her elevated heart rate. "A very pretty, normal lady."
Tannis chuckled softly and gave a timid smile up at Legend. “If I didn’t know any better I’d say you were interested in me Legend.”
He smiled, which turned into a sly grin. He leaned forward and kissed her cheek. “Well now ya know better.” He said, a soft smile on his face. He didn’t know what the repercussions of that kiss would be, be at least she knew.
Tannis looked surprised when Legend kissed her cheek. She was expecting for him to be much more forward than that, and she didn’t really have much objections to the idea of him actually kissing her if he did want to.
“Well it seems we cleared that up.”
He patted his arm, freshly bandaged. "Thank god for doctors." He said, chuckling. He wasn't watching where he was going, bumping into someone on the street. "Oop, sorry."

"I’m surprised. They must be blind if they hadn’t noticed." He said, smirking. "I appreciate ya lettin’ me stay the night."
“Crazy scientist isn’t everyone’s cup of tea.” Tannis did catchthe joke and the smirk. She had the oddest feeling like he was hitting on her.

(I’M BACK)
((Hello yes it was your turn to reply.))
Science and Progress
"Yeah?" He responded, glancing over at the waking woman. "Ya need some water or somethin’?" Tannis seemed nervous but Zed wasn’t sure why. Was it him?
“Do you have a bathroom or something? I need to do something….private…” Tannis mumbled her tension mounting and already nervously twitching her hands along to some imaginary rhythym.
He nodded slowly. “Yeah, right back behind the counter. Do what ya need.” She sure was acting strange..but who was he to judge? No one on Pandora was normal anyway.
Tannis nodded and made her way over to the bathroom and tried to lock the door, and started pacing 3 times down and 3 times up, counting and all kinds of various things. She hoped that Zed couldn't hear her talking to herself.
Science and Progress
"So much fer a long night," Zed whispered. He finished off his cigarette, leaned his head back, closed his eyes and fell asleep right where he was.
Tannis ended up wrapping and arm around him and nuzzling into his arm like it was a pillow, a small smile creeping over her face.
Surprisingly, the doctor stayed asleep for most of the night, only waking a couple of times to quietly smoke. Once the light from the sun peaked in the window and hit his eyes Zed was awake once more. He lit up another cigarette but didn’t move, wanting Tannis to get enough sleep to help regain her strength from the wound she’d come to see him with. Zed glanced down at her a couple of times and was surprised that she’d stayed asleep for so long, much less slept so close to him. Any normal person wouldn’t be caught within’ ten feet of the recovering drug addict unless they were dying.
Tannis ending up waking a few moments after Zed, rubbing her eyes and smiling drearily. She saw Zed and tensed a bit, afraid of him seeing her morning ‘ritual’ that she followed down to a T. “Z-zed?”

Zed hesitated but then accepted her hand, struggling a bit to stand. He finally got to his feet and was a bit wobbly but didn’t fall as he walked slowly over to the couch and noticed Tannis following closely behind him as if she expected him to fall over. “..you can stay fer the night if ya want..can’t promise I won’t be up half the night though. I don’t sleep so well..”
“Don’t sleep well either. The Rakks around my facility never go to sleep and I’m not great with a gun.” Tannis was considering staying a few more days to ensure Zed was well. Then perhaps she would leave.
"Sounds like it’s gonna be a long night then," he smirked, stretching the torn skin near his mouth. Zed dropped down onto the couch with a heavy sigh, scooting over to make room for Tannis. "I ain’t gonna bite ya, too tired fer that," he joked, laughing weakly as he shakily went for his cigarettes again.
Tannis slumped on the couch next to him, dozing off almost immediately, completely snuggled up to him.
"So much fer a long night," Zed whispered. He finished off his cigarette, leaned his head back, closed his eyes and fell asleep right where he was.

Wade took a cursory glance around the Scientist's haphazard laboratory. "I take it you're...... Kinda busy, should I come BACK or-??"
Tannis looked up at the strange masked fellow who had entered her makeshift lab. Occasionally some Vault Hunters, and more commonly bandits wore masks but none wore anything like that. The outfit caught her interest immediately.
“What’re you looking for?”
“What kinda money we talkin’? Cause i’m in this for BIG game, not those wackadoos with the masks. Those guys are just kind of annoying.”
“There’s a headquarters nearby with some other Vault Hunters. I’m sure they would enjoy another companion. You might need to show them you’re in it for the long term and not going to run when it gets bloody.”
“Oh trust me, i’ve seen and FELT bloody. I’m pretty sure I’ve been through worse than most of these Vault Hunters have been.”
Wade replied confidently.
“So whats your job around here then? Cause it seems like you’re the type that’d prefer a sterile environment and shiny white lab coats.”
“I am an archaeologist. And I used to study the Vaults before the first one was opened and a man by the name of Jack stole the key and burned my first research facility. One of the Vault Hunters saved me and brought me here.”
Tannis didnt really believe what Wade said about being in bloody environments before but that was for him to prove to Roland and the Crimson Raiders.
“Yeah, i keep hearing about this JACK guy. Everyone keeps on babbling about him, but nobody wants to tell me SHIT about him. Whats his deal?”
“Hyperion was one of the companies who tried to colonize Pandora and grab whatever's in the Vault. Jack is in charge of Hyperion and sees everyone on the planet as worthless bandits who need to be killed.”

Enigmatic Messages from an Enigmatic Messanger
At the mention of her broken fingers, he had broken all of them, she rubbed her fingers nervously. They had healed except for one, her index finger on her left hand, and it had been a painful process. She had to go see Zed to get him to fix it and even then it was a gradual process. While the fingers had healed nicely, using things in the same way as he once did was hard.
And this person, this “Angel” was here. She supposedly saw what Jack and that terrible cyborg monster did to her.
“What do you want with me then?”
“I want you, the oh so lovely Tannis, to show me how you figured out the Vault in the first place. How you discovered the Key, what even made you decide to start following rumours to find facts in the first place. You’re obviously a woman of science, yet you invested so much time into fairytales. If it hadn’t been for your hunch, none of this would have followed. I might even harbour to guess that Roland might still be alive if you hadn’t led Hyperion here…” She gestured to the open door behind her that led into Tannis’ old refuge, not daring to enter without first being invited. The use of Roland’s death was her weakness, she believed. “You know, it was annoying when you threw your first Echo away. I had come to believe you were someone I could talk to, given your genius. I guess that was an assumption on my part…”
Tannis was silent, hearing that she caused Roland's death, even if indirectly, had considerably shaken her up. That explained everything, even Lilith's actions towards her as of late. And now it was true. Roland really was dead because of her. Because she was so desperate to find something, anything on the shithole of a planet.
“Maybe it was just an assumption on your part...” Tannis replied, the grief seeping into her voice. She didn't want to go back into the facility. Knowing that all the deaths and horrors were her fault. She didn't believe in atonement, but she didn't know what else to do to make it up to the Vault Hunters that were still alive and the ones who had died.
Chatty.
“Well yes, I do admit to being rather talkative amongst those whom I consider friends.”
“In some bandit clans, the aiming of a weapon could be shown to be a sign of attraction.”
"I’m not sure where you got your facts from, but I very much doubt that."
“Have you met the bandits on Pandora?”
"It is hard not to come across them."
“Well apparently to bandits it is. Long story.”
"Well its not like they are the most sane of people."
“Not many people on this planet are that sane to begin with.”
Chatty.
“Well yes, I do admit to being rather talkative amongst those whom I consider friends.”
"so that tends to be everybody."
“Certainly not. I can name a fair few people whom I do not consider friends.”
"they are usually those who are aiming the weapon at you."

He nodded but didn’t move to stand, feeling way too shaking to try and get on his feet. “..sorry ‘bout all this..” Zed felt the need to apologize to the woman, feeling like she had horrible timing coming in to see him in the state he was in.
Tannis had stood up and offered her hand to him. “I’ve seen worse. Don’t hurt yourself over it.”
Zed hesitated but then accepted her hand, struggling a bit to stand. “Ned…” Had she just named his other personality? It was weird..but what the hell was normal in his life? “..guess that’ll work,” Zed mumbled, feeling a bit worn out from the days events.
“You’ve been through a lot today. We should get some sleep.”
He nodded but didn’t move to stand, feeling way too shaking to try and get on his feet. “..sorry ‘bout all this..” Zed felt the need to apologize to the woman, feeling like she had horrible timing coming in to see him in the state he was in.
