 ✖️ Less cool parts of today: Used aforementioned notebooks to create a list of all the things that need to get done soon, considered leaving school to become a shepherd on an isolated island

1.17.18 // i finally did some studying after being unproductive for soooo many days

I often see a lot of posts describing colorful complicated notetaking tips and tricks, and those are great and dandy. However, when I’m studying a subject that is challenging and takes a lot of time and effort to learn I need a simple notetaking system. So here’s a post on that: 

Before Class - Take notes on the class material that you need to know for next class - If you need to read a chapter of a textbook before class- take handwritten notes while reading it instead of just highlighting (usually for me these notes are very messy- and that’s okay!) - While reading a textbook- make note of definitions, dates and basic concepts

During Class -Handwrite your notes!- I used to type during lectors but so many studies been done on how handwriting information helps you remember it. - plus you’re less tempted to go online shopping or work on other classwork in lector (guilty!) -During lector and tutorials - try to only write important information- and do so in simple sentences you will understand when reading them later. -Don’t write everything that is on the lector slides- usually, teachers post these and you can review them later or print them out and have them handy in class After Class - Type up a combination of all the important information you have learned that week. - Get out your textbook notes, lector/tutorial notes and pull up those lector slides and pick out the important information from all of these sources - I use OneNote for this- but any word processor works - Label it by date or topic- just keep it organized - Do this each week- it then becomes a database of information you can use when you need to study- instead of needing to review all those different sources

03.05.2017 | i have one more essay to conquer! it’s a massive report for my phonetics & phonology course. good news is i’ve been working at this nice pink table in the library & i’ve also had a lot of good friends studying with me as of late 🌈 (& i’m going to uk in 2 weeks as part of a uni course!!! lots of stressful planning & packing ahead!!)

wednesday, december 13 — guess who is back?

it feels really great to finally be able to post something here! im studying on a daily basis because my finals are literally from next week to the beginning of january, so once it starts, the hunger games start at the same time… it is getting quite hard tbh, we have a shit-ton of finals, so many hard things to remember but at least everything is interesting (except one class)! trying my best to be as productive as possible, and trying me best to memorize every single thing…

really hope you are all doing great! i am currently studying some chinese history before getting back to my chinese literature notes/translation notes🇨🇳 i am also currently watching an episode of Grey’s Anatomy at the same time because I need my brain to freaking relax for at least 45mins haha…
