Itâs been hell week for me. Iâm about to graduate this Friday and thereâs a chance I wonât be able to because I didnât pass my exit exam.
Iâve been in class from Monday-Friday 7am-3:30pm last week. And today Iâve been at school from 7am-7:30pm (yes, thatâs rightâŚ7:30pm) doing the exit exam, skills lab, and leadership lecture! Iâm so tired and feeling incredibly discouraged. Please send good vibes and good luck to any one else struggling to graduate.
A list of random tips I learnt during college:
If you are in a new city with no friends, go out alone. It might seem weird but you will get to spend quality time with yourself + possibly meet some people
Carry your college ID everywhere and donât be afraid to ask if a store has college discounts!
Take. Notes. Of. Everything. You might think âeh Iâll remember thisâ. You wonât. Write it down.
Replace your morning coffee for green tea, it is less likely to give you an energy crash later in the day, and take coffee as a pick me up later in the afternoon
Take a break from studying every hour or so, but donât use your phone/computer. Go out for a walk, stretch, drink some water, shower. It will help you focus better
SKINCARE TIP: steam your face by boiling some water and putting some sage in it, then putting your face above the pot with a towel covering your head and the pot. It will help open up your pores and clean them
Things to always have around: coconut oil (for hair care, removing makeup, dry skin, cooking..) and baking soda (removing stains, face peeling, good for your gums..)
MEAL PREP!! Or at least shop for the following week so you are less likely to eat out, and eat crap!
Try new things, you might not be great at them, but you also might find something you are passionate about.
MEDITATE. If you donât know how, download a guided meditation app (like Headspace). Meditation is great for reducing stress and boosting productivity. Also a great thing to do on your study break.
Donât stare at any screens before bed, it WILL make you fall asleep harder and fuck up the quality of your sleep. Instead try reading, meditating, doing skincare, journaling.
Speaking of journaling, get a bullet journal. Write down your thoughts, plan your week, your month, write to do lists and shopping lists, and just use it as a creative outlet. You donât have to be a great artist, it doesnât matter, just let it all out on the paper.
studyblr intro đť
hello, everyone! my nameâs ahreum and iâve finally decided to make a studyblr after following lots of studyblr accounts in my personal account.Â
about me:
she/her.
19 y/o.
asian.Â
slytherin.
a cat and dog lover but allergic to both.
loves pandas very much.
aquarius.
infp-j.
ambivert (but mostly an introvert)
academics:
i am a fourth year college student studying civil engineering.
i only realized my dream of being a biomedical engineer last year that is why i am planning to study again once iâve earned money in being a civil engineer.Â
iâve halted my korean studies to pursue japanese but i wanna get back on track once iâve learned enough of the language.Â
others:
i am a HUGE fan of korean music (mostly khh and kr&b) however, the groups i stan are block b, ikon, and twice.
i love watching local volleyball matches but i am the worst at playing it.Â
i am a sucker for japanese movies and dramas but iâve been exposed to western tv series lately and i am also loving it (please give me recommendations if you have one).
i love one piece, haikyuu!, and detective conan with all my heart and soul. i also watch other anime but nothing can come close to these three.Â
because i love watching our local volleyball matches, i went to the college of my favorite team and i have not regretted anything!Â
why a studyblr?
i want to improve myself more. i know that iâm already in my fourth year but itâs never too late to start, right? i really wanna do well in school and teach myself more discipline. creating a studyblr myself would want to make me more dedicated in what i do.Â
i wanna learn how to organize my life (because itâs honestly a mess yikes)

Doing some Psychology homewoke but my desk is a mess
op ed: i donât care and neither should you
Word is circulating on this site that studyblrs tend to glorify expensive things in studyspo pics: Tombow brush pens, Macbooks, iPads, Mossery or Rifle Paper Co journals, etc. I actually donât think there is anything wrong with that. Studyblr, like any hobby, is commercialized. Some people are just going to have more expensive gear than you. Studyblr, like life, is commercialized. People are always going to have more expensive stuff than you: houses, cars, clothes, etc. But if I canât change the way you feel, the question remains: what are you going to do about it? Go out and charge brush pens you donât need or write an inspiring masterpost that wonât cost you a cent? Are people really concerned that their lack of a white desk and good natural lighting will cost them likes and reblogs? Studyblr should be above caring how many notes a post has. Do it for yourself, not for validation. Post pics of your messy desk if it makes YOU happy. Write motivational posts because YOU get something out of it (other than notes). So, that is the opinion some people requested. I donât know if itâs controversial. All I know is that what other people have shouldnât matter. You can be awesome with whatever you have right now.
Edupunk
Edupunk is a DIY approach to education that avoids mainstream tools and organizations. Edupunk is a type of learning that I have personally found VERY helpful in my high school career. It is no secret to anyone who knows me that I am awful at math, i had to retake the state required geometry test three times to pass it. I studied like hell all three times, the difference on the third time is I taught myself the entire course over the corse of a month.
Ok so the basics (and really the only thing you need, which I have to assume you have access to if you are reading this) of getting this done. The internet. Websites like Khan Academy are fantastic for things like math. Practice, practice, practice. Thats the key way to get through this. Use google, use youtube, use the vast world wide web to learn.Â
Read if youâre having trouble with english, watch science videos for science work, use things like simple.wikipedia to explain topics, simple wikipedia is a beautiful thing because it explains the topic in very simple ways, the english is simple and perfect for getting the basic understanding down so you can learn more about your subject.Â
Remember to practice, this is more so for college than high school but there are TONS of resources for high school as well, use google, specifically, type âsite:edu subject here] exam,â this will bring up many college exams on the same course, use this to quiz and practice before your actual tests! Sites like the previously mentioned Khan Academy are also fantastic resources for doing this. Look up the subject and find tests and questions on your subject.Â
Hope you found this useful, wish me luck on the start of my senior year of high school tomorrow!Â

i want to see messy study notes, i want to see your cheap stationary, i want to see rushed scribbles, i want to see wonky lines and crossed out words. i want to see the real side of your studying - that part of studyblr is 100% as beautiful and valid as the neat, perfectly written and expensive side !!!
ACT Test-Taking Tips
Hello everyone, admin Eme here!Â
Today I wanted to share some ACT test-taking tips that I found useful while preparing for my exam. Iâll discuss some ways to improve and how you should manage your time for each section. If you donât know what the ACT is, itâs basically the more STEM and English rounded version of the SAT. Grading scales are similar, with a maximum of 36 being equivalent to 1600.Â
Grammar - This section consists of 75 questions and you have 45 minutes to complete it. Personally this section is the easiest for me even though my grammar is absolute crap. I think the key to succeeding here is to know a fair amount of your basic grammar rules and remember to use common sense. Compared to the SAT (which I have no clue about), the ACT grammar words are a lot easier to understand and are probably ones you use from time to time. Never change your answer unless you are 100% sure that itâs wrong. For questions that involve choosing the best phrase for X, donât choose what you think sounds right, remember to pick what the test likes. As for timing, 45 minutes is totally enough time to finish the Grammar section. The ideal pacing schedule is first 60 questions in 30 minutes and the last 15 for the last 15 minutes. If you go this pace, youâll probably finish before time and have around 7-9 minutes to check your work.Â
Math - This section consists of 60 questions and you have 60 minutes to complete it. Iâm gonna be real, the first 40 questions are basically high school material. If youâve studied up to Pre-Calculus 11&12 (or the American/British/International) equivalent of that, youâll be fine. Iâm not even good at Math and I can do them with a calculator and basic knowledge. Last 20 questions, on the other hand, are a disaster. If youâre a math wiz, then good for you. For the regular student, itâs a different story. The best advice I can give you is either buy a workbook that focuses specifically on math or do LOTS of practice. Youâll probably notice that a lot of the concepts get reused a lot (just with different numbers). To be real, you donât even have to have a deep understanding of the concepts, just the basic formulas and how to get the solution from X.Â
Reading - This section consists of 40 questions and you have 35 minutes to complete it. If Reading is your weakest section, youâve probably heard that itâs hard to improve reading comprehension on the ACT or SAT. Wrong. The key to improving reading is to actually just read a lot. You donât need to crack open a famous work of literature but practice reading and inferring from articles or short stories. The basic structure is 1 fiction, 1 social sciences, 1 humanities, and 1 natural science passage. Fiction is probably the hardest because you have to infer sometimes based on the details they tell you. The other 3 basically involve going through the passage(s) to find the answers, which shouldnât be too bad. To finish on time, you can technically just spend 9 minutes on 3 passages and 7-8 minutes on the one you find easiest.Â
Science - This section consists of 40 questions and you have 35 minutes to complete it. I think the new ACT has 6 reading passages instead of 7? (correct me if Iâm wrong) but regardless, it is probably the most time-crunching section of the test. The secret of this section is: it has no correlation with how well you do in Science class at school. Occasionally they insert real world knowledge into the questions but itâs Science comprehension. Sound familiar? Itâs Reading but with fancy graphs and confusing words. To be good at this, practice graph reading. It sounds like stupid advice but trust me, you will need it on the test. Also, to pace yourself, try to do the first 3-4 sections in under 5 minutes. This way youâll be guaranteed to finish on time as the later sections can get confusing as hell.Â
Workbook wise, I just practice with past exam questions or Barronâs. I have not yet used any of the other brands but feel free to search online and find which one you are most comfortable buying with. For online studying, I have heard good things from UWorld and Khan Academy (although more suited towards SAT).
The ACT will be taken electronically if you are taking it outside the USÂ starting from September. If you still wish to write it on paper, youâll have to book a testing centre in the US ahead of time. I did not choose to talk about the writing section as it is not mandatory for many schools anymore. You can check online to see if the college you are applying to requires it or not.Â
Good luck and aim for that 36!Â
Time Management
Hello everyone, this is admin Eme here!Â
I wanted to give you guys tips on how to realistically manage your time. These are only tips I find useful when Iâm in class or studying so donât feel pressured to use them. Everyone has their own useful habits but I just wanted to share mine.Â
Time Management
Use an agenda - This is very very helpful (especially in older grades and university/college). If youâre any of the younger grades (Grade 8/Year 9, Grade 9/Freshman/Year 10, Grade 10/Sophomore/Year 11), then I would recommend but not say itâs an absolute necessity. Usually workload is lighter during those years and letâs be real, colleges donât really look at those years too critically anyways. If youâre going into Grade 11/Junior/Year 12 and Grade 12/Senior/Year 13 however, then using one is a must. 100% you will spend the first term stressed out from the workload (unless youâve studied it beforehand) and keeping an agenda for organization will make your life so much easier. On the other hand, using one to keep track of your extra-curriculars is also very handy.Â
Set up a studying schedule - Donât force yourself to study 4 hours straight, itâs not going to stick in your head. However, donât just skim the paper for 10 minutes even if you are confident with the material. I have personally done both those things and the results were pretty awful. Instead, set up a healthy schedule that allows you to relax but also keep studying. For example, study 1 hour and take 20 minute breaks in between. In those 20 minutes, you can do whatever you want on your electronic device or in real life. I also recommend getting a head start on assignments and studying for a test so youâre not cramming in an all-nighter the night before. Trust me, not getting enough sleep will more likely make you perform poorly than anything else.Â
Keep an eye on the time - This is for those people who like to hang out a lot with their friends even though none of their assignments are done. Before you go out, check what you need to do and just do it (especially if itâs something due soon). If you just leave it undone then it will continue to bother you while youâre out with your friends, which means you wonât be able to enjoy it to the fullest. Get that report or project done beforehand and youâll be rewarded for your efforts. Work hard and play hard! :)Â
Stop everything - This probably sounds like terrible advice considering that I just told you ways to manage time in the points above. Donât scoff at this though, stepping back and looking at the situation is not wasting your time. As the school year is beginning, classes will be stressful and will only get worse as time passes. Although this is not meant for you to stop trying in general, I want you to know that itâs perfectly normal to just stop sometimes. Reflect on what you need to do, whether that be going for a walk or having a good cry.Â
Time management tips aside, I hope this was at least semi-helpful. This is my first time doing this and Iâm sorry if didnât turn out to be great. Even if youâve stopped reading two sentences in, I hope you all remember that everything will be okay. Grades donât define a person and school is just small chapter of our lives. Time management will make handling assignments more easy but donât forget to do what you love above all.Â
Breathe, you will be survive through this.Â
Back to school series #2 - HOW TO BE DISCIPLINED
Welcome to this new post of my #backtoschoolseries!! if you havenât already checked my last back-to-school related post you can do it here :D
The main topic of this post is discipline and how you can learn to manage it. When I was repeating my first med school year I learned how to discipline myself and it let me have a life apart from my studies. I used to wake up every day at 5.45 am for my morning workout, go to uni, come back home and study, cook my meals and go to bed early enough. I was also able to spend some free time with my friends and family during the weekends. This routine helped me manage my time, gave me a sense of accomplishment and made me go to bed almost every day knowing I had my sh*t together.Â
So how did I manage to develop this busy routine AND pass my first year? Continue to read!Â
Know the difference between motivation and self-discipline. Motivation is what will get you started, and is powered by your WHY. WHY do you want to go to college? WHY do you want to lose 10 pounds? WHY do you want to run a marathon? All of the answers to these questions are the main motor of your motivation. And motivation is the motor of discipline. Discipline is what will make you study every day so youâll have those grades that will make you get into the college of your dreams. Discipline is what will make you wake up at 6 am every morning to go for a run. In other terms, discipline is what you need in order to keep going and stay on track. Discipline canât exist without motivation and motivation is nothing without discipline.Â
We all practice discipline is some aspects of our life. For some of us, it will be waking up every morning at a reasonable hour in order to not be late for school. For others, it will be taking their medication every day in order to stay healthy. So stop telling yourself you donât have any discipline or willpower because you wonât even be reading this post otherwise.
Discipline is a skill, and like every other skill, it has to be practiced every day. You have to put effort and focus in what you want to achieve and sometimes youâll have to literally force yourself to get things done. Like I said in my previous post about motivation, no one really wants to wake up at 6 every morning to do a workout, especially if itâs dark and cold outside, and that your bed is begging you to stay.
Know yourself, and know what your weaknesses are. When you acknowledge these, you can find strategies to overcome them. If you want to go to bed earlier but youâre always on your phone till late at night, try to force yourself to put your phone in another room when you go to bed. If youâre always distracted by your Instagram notifications whilst studying, put your phone in airplane mode, or delete the app from it. If you just canât control yourself over junk food, just donât buy it. Remove every temptation so youâll only focus on whatâs important.
Plan your days ahead and plan your future. Again, ask yourself WHY you want to be disciplined, and WHAT the willpower you want to develop will bring into your life. The advantages of you being more disciplined have to overcome the reasons why you shouldnât be, and thatâs how motivation comes in the way.
Know that sometimes sh*t happens. Thatâs why you need a plan B. Having a backup plan doesnât mean you donât believe in your dreams, it just means that you are some kind of realistic about life and you know that it doesnât always go as you wished it would. Having a plan B will make everything a bit more flexible and youâll feel less anxious about your goals.
If youâre trying but you just canât find any willpower in what you want to do, ask yourself if thereâs something thatâs preventing you from being disciplined. Are you sure youâre doing whatever youâre doing because you want it? Or are you doing it to please someone else? Are you scared of the outcome? Do you feel something is going wrong? Itâs really important for you to have this little talk with yourself so you can focus on what you really want in your life because when your goals are genuine and clear, motivation comes by itself and discipline will follow.Â
Remember that itâs ok to screw up sometimes. You are not a robot and it is totally normal to have days where you donât feel like it. Resting is also part of the process and will help you clear your vision and regain all the precious energy you need :) Forgive and take care of yourself!
I honestly think this post should be related to my post about motivation (if you havenât read it already, I invite you to do it now!)Â
As usual, I hope these tips will be useful! Iâm curious to know how do you guys practice discipline :)Â
(PS : sorry for my english)

Humorous To-Do List
I enjoy a little bit of self deprecating humor and honestly this is helping me do my work so I figured I would share it - Admin Wolfie
