^also side question, I’m a trans woman, am I just fucked from getting jobs? Everyone in my school was turbofascist and hated me, is the industry like that or was my school just bad?

Ugh this is such a hard part of being DEI in cishet-male industries like aviation 😞 especially in the mechanic side of things. I live in California so I’m lucky to have people who put empathy over politics, but I imagine elsewhere it’s much harder. I pass pretty decently so I don’t really stick out like a sore thumb, and that’s been great.

I don’t think you’re fucked, though; lay low, be respectful, and don’t let people get to you. People will say shit to try and “trigger” you because they think you’re soft and fragile, but you have every single right to be in the industry as much as they are. Proper knowledge and experience should mean more to an employer than “political” standing.

I hate it but from the outside looking in, constantly being an advocate is inflammatory and has the potential to be dangerous around the wrong people. I don’t mention my identity unless it’s brought up and I defend myself if I need to

Advice for someone studying for their A&P? I had to drop out of A&P school but I’m still trying to study on my own and it’s hard.

Oh man where to start… coming from someone who is shit at studying, get the ASA Aviation Mechanic Prepware app and spam the questions there. I also really like Airman Test, and my friend has the physical Jeppesen Generals study book which I pawn off of him sometimes. Something about having physical books helps me way more than studying on a screen. Also draw lots of pictures
