FANS OF WABLWYWYD! GET EXCITED !
I'm so proud to say I've completed a piece of artwork for every single chapter of the fic. NOT ONLY THAT, but I've taken the time to re-edit the entire fic. The artwork will be posted along with the edited chapters, so go check it out. I'll be posting the pieces on my art account (@sucky-username) over the course of the next week, but they're all included with the fic RIGHT NOW. Reread and see if you can spot the changes! (Hint: the most major change is the opening of the first chapter. I always kinda hated the original, so I hope you agree the new opening is much better.) More info about the art and edit under the cut!
Oh, and also, thank you SO MUCH for over 1.5k kudos on the fic! That is a jaw-dropping amount of support.
I've been wanting to make art for all the chapters for basically the entirety of the fic's existence, and I'm so glad I finally got around to it. I recently started drawing using dip pen/brush and ink, and that's how these pieces were done. I sketched them digitally, printed the sketches and traced them onto watercolor paper, inked and shaded them, then scanned them and colored them digitally, with some manipulation/adjustments. I loved the process and I hope you like the result!
The re-edit came about because I'm actually in the midst of editing my first novel and my co-author and I were on hiatus for a couple of weeks while I finished out the semester. I LOVE editing so I was still itching to work on something in the meantime. WABLWYWYD! was the outlet for this desire. I have not only improved in my writing over the last three years since I started the fic, but also exponentially since we started editing. Our editor has given us so much good advice and I couldn't be more thrilled with how the edit on the novel is going, as well as how the edit on this fic turned out. Maybe the changes will be too subtle for readers to notice, but I'm really proud of how I improved it.
That's all my ramblings. Look out for the rest of the artwork being posted here over the next week and check out the edited fic! Thanks for reading and supporting WABLWYWYD! over the last three years!

I initially screwed up the inks on this one because I didn't take my time, but I think I pulled it back. I had to really fight to get enough value contrast in all of these.

I go back and forth between loving and hating Stu's face in this one. I think this might be my favorite chapter of the fic, though.

Took me forever to figure out how to draw those broken bones. I refused to look up reference and YouTube didn't want to show me the pertinent film scenes.

I loved drawing the blood. The depth comes from a combination of the traditional inks and a multiply layer plus an oil brush in Photoshop.

Creature design inspired by the work of Mason Lindroth (specifically the style of Hylics 2). This is several months old but it’s still one of my favorite things I’ve ever drawn. I was sick while I was working on it and it was actually nice to just sit and hand stipple the entire fucking thing for hours on end. It was really challenging to try and replicate the style of Lindroth’s digitized 3D work with 2D traditional means. It really got me to think about how the shadows would fall if this was a real object.
