anyways with the season complete now here are some of my favorite the vampire lestat songs <3 idk anything about music so this is just vibes based

plastic fiends: i understand why it wasn’t featured more heavily in the show (it doesn’t really add anything to the plot except emphasizing lestats disillusion with modern life) but i’m still a bit sad about it because it’s such a bop!! the lyrics are a lot of fun as well and i can’t help but giggle when thinking about lestat singing his anti capitalist anthem just to then go home to his billionaire husband

cabbage: the first time i listened to this i was just confused ngl. but then i found i couldn’t stop listening to it. i can see why this song works as a rallying cry for all vampires because there’s just a special something about it that draws you to it. also it’s just kinda cute that it’s a song addressed at his fans. like yeah <3 that’s me <3

when i call out your name: i was so happy this showed up again in the finale because i loved the tiny snippet we got in episode 5. the way the song plays with lestats stuttering of her name is just so good

the loneliness: i love the song but my favorite thing about it is probably the performance in the show. lestats absolute love for the music just gets me. him going on stage despite everything just because he loves performing. him being able to at least temporarily free himself of his makers because of it. yeah <3

brutal love: the louis song. lestat tried to write him the prettiest song in the world and he succeeded. it’s such a romantic and beautiful song full of yearning. it’s going triple platinum in my house

your biggest fan: having the song be from magnus perspective was a diabolical choice which i love so much. it’s such an unsettling way of presenting the story while also telling us so much about how lestat is trying to repress and rationalize his trauma. good stuff

butterscotch bitch: i don’t care what anyone says i loveee this song. very campy and i think it’s so neat how it ended up being the song that encapsulates the whole season

Here is the season. Here is the arc:

Berating himself via Gabriella in his head (because of course it would be her), telling himself what he felt with Louis wasn't love. It never was, not after the book. He was only pretending it was. He sees a flash of Mardi Gras just after, immediately followed by the final words they exchanged on the bench playing back to him in reverse...

Mardi Gras, where he was hoping the love they'd fallen back into was real and Louis wouldn't go through with it. But then Louis slit his throat anyway. And then the night on the bench in Montreal when he lost his head because he was so blinded by that same love he couldn't see what was coming. Could be. Hands touch. And it couldn't have been real either time, right? Because Louis has never said it, never uttered the words out loud. Only...

On the brink of death, the truth, pushing past all the self-loathing and self-doubt. He is loved by Louis. And whether these words are truly coming from Paul's ghost or Lestat's imagining of him, the full circle moment is all the same...

He is loved. Even Paul would be able to see it. And now is the time for their new beginning, picking up right where they left off on that bench, imagining their future together. In love. So so so in love...

every chapter of deltarune has a secret npc who only appears if you leave and re-enter the room 1225 times while you have a bagel in your seventh inventory slot and the npc is a sentient doorknob and when you talk to them the music cuts out and they’re like “who’s that whispering in the trees, it’s two sailors and they’re on leave, pipes and chains and swinging hands, who’s your daddy, yes i am” and then within four hours there’s a thirty minute long video on youtube titled “ASGORE IS FRIEND??? DADDY THEORY EXPLAINED” and it already has 100,000 views and then a year later people call the next chapter disappointing because it was focusing too much on developing the main characters instead of explaining the doorknob guy

realizing that the failures entirely being narrated by lestat means that in whatever post akasha post apocalyptic world they’re living in right now lestat at the very least finally knows that louis loves him

I love the genre switch between iwtv and tvl, I love seeing how Louis sees the world and how Lestat sees the world and how different they are, how incompatible they seem, and yet how much they love each other. That's what love is like! You love someone, and they have a whole world inside them that you have no access to, and you have to work to bridge that gap, and you'll never entirely manage it, but you keep trying because you love them. Beautiful

Absolutely haunting refrain of “Could be nice. Could be. Hands touch.” In ep7. Lestat clinging to Louis as the only thing that keeps him grounded in the midst of his own unraveling. Lestat believing Louis’ love is enough to redeem him, even as he is surrounded by the evidence of his failures. It’s really the Loustat of it all.
