A statement from the Lutuals:

After a pretty rough week with a lot going on, the Lutuals have decided that moving forward we will be a bit more selective regarding certain things. We love sharing our characters and developing new and interesting storylines for people to read and interact with and want to continue doing so while protecting ourselves and our mental health. Please see below on the things we expect moving forward.

Asks, anon or not, will be deleted on sight and the sender blocked if they fall into any of the following categories:

NSFW - finding the characters hot is fine! Telling the mods what you want to do to those characters sexually is not!

Violence - show typical violence may be part of storylines or backstory to inform characterization! Graphically describing violence you would like to see done to the characters doesn’t! To vent frustrations with characters, please throw a bible at them; the mods will get the message just fine.

Hate Speech - the Lutualverse is a fun spinoff of the Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss settings and isn’t the place for social or political commentary. We’re just here for the various shades of queer relationships; if you’re not, kindly move along.

Spam - many Lutuals utilize their queues for asks and submissions; if you sent it once, we probably got it and will answer asks and post submissions in due time. Sending more than once will just confuse Tumblr and annoy the mod.

For the last few months I have been preparing to take a job overseas and get out of the US. I've been so stressed getting my visa and stuff and now I'm falling short on funds for the last step. This is also why I've taken a rather large step back from my tumblrs. It has been a lot. I don't like to talk about myself on here much but I feel like this is my last opportunity to get out to another country where I'll be safer being myself. The soft jingle of the doorbell announced Peter’s return, and in he came, clutching a neatly organized folder to his chest. His wings gave a little excited flutter as he stepped inside, eyes immediately scanning the shop with that familiar mix of wonder and nerves.

He was dressed a little more formally this time—his choir robes freshly pressed, hair combed into tidy curls, and a hopeful smile tugging at his lips. With careful reverence, he made his way to the counter, setting the folder down like it held the crown jewels. Inside were reference photos, fabric samples, and handwritten notes—some with doodles in the margins.

Peter smoothed out the front of his robes, cleared his throat softly, and gave the bell a gentle ding. ( @twinkpeter )

Betty had been waiting for him to appear and he was right on time. Not that they’d given a specific time frame for this, but he stepped through the door and rung that bell at exactly 10 am, the same time he had arrived the week before.

Andy grumbled something under his breath about throwing the bell off the edge of heaven as he continued hemming the cuff of a suit jacket with more force than necessary. He was imprisoned in the back until St. Peter left. Considering he hadn’t shut up about how much he couldn’t stand the angel all week, Betty decided it was probably a better decision that he just continue his work in the back until he left.

She collected her file full of sketches, a few options for the star depending on opulence or extravagance. He seemed pretty interested in making her into something of a shining specter above the crowd, something with trains and wing extensions but the size of the outfit would be an issue depending on the set. To avoid that issue, she also gave an option that was a little smaller and was in part inspired by the transformation to full seraphim of the High Seraphim, utilizing battery operated lights to almost blind the audience as her wings came out and then left her shimmering.

“Welcome back! I have your sketches here! How’s the show coming?”

Peter practically lit up the moment Betty greeted him, his wings giving a flutter of delight as he approached the counter, clutching his own folder just a little tighter.

“Oh—hi!” he beamed, cheeks already a touch pink with excitement. “Oh gosh, thank you so much again for doing this! I’ve been so looking forward to seeing what you’ve come up with!”

He carefully set his folder down and leaned in, clearly eager, but also with the reverence of someone about to witness something sacred.

“The show’s coming along beautifully! We’ve been rehearsing the Act II monologue, the one where the star speaks to the floodwaters—very dramatic. A few tears have already been shed. From me, mostly.” He gave a sheepish little chuckle, then tilted his head. “I can’t wait to see the sketches! I hope the inspiration struck you like, um… divine lightning?” His voice went up a pitch at the end, clearly unsure if that metaphor worked, but too chipper to let it hang for long.

Betty cracked a real smile at that, the strange metaphor not landing in the slightest, but that was fine. He was a funny little guy and at his core, a theater kid, which she understood perfectly well. “I’ll definitely have to come check out one of the shows. Especially to see how this turns out!”

She opened the file and spread out the sketches, each one unique enough to be recognizable to the character but keeping to a theme of humble cloths and accessories. A pop of color for each character to help the audience see who was who, a few ideas for hair and make up—it wasn’t her specialty but she always made sure to include it to help the stylists see the vision, even if they scrapped it.

“How does it look? We can add more shimmer, sparkle or whatever to the inside of the dove’s coat, but it might be easier to go smaller. Plus the weight wont be so much on her wings and we’d be allowed to go with heavier detailing since there would be less of it.”

He blinked back to focus at her suggestion, nodding thoughtfully. “Hmm, that does make sense… we were worried about how the weight might affect her wings during the lift in the finale—oh, it’s very dramatic, she’s suspended midair while the Ark turns on the moutains pinacle! It’s giving divine judgment and inner peace!”

Peter tilted his head, clearly turning the options over in his mind. “I think scaling it down just a smidge might be the wisest choice. We can still make it shimmer like starlight on holy water, but we won’t have to worry about her accidentally getting yanked out of the rafters... again. I’ll have the staging team measure the rigging again just to be sure.”

He looked up at Betty with a bright, earnest smile. “You really get it, you know? You’ve got such a strong eye for storytelling through fabric—it's like... wardrobe gospel! We are so blessed to have you on this!”

And older come-ups, I suppose.”

Betty turned back to the sketches, her eyes roving over them one last time to ensure there weren’t any issues, a perfectionist at heart. “Is there anything you want updated? I have different color options for any of it or I could change out the cuts. I think that having simple for most of them would be best, but I’m willing to make any changes to the designs you wish.”

Just enough to catch the light when she turns. I was thinking that forest-green linen—it’d ground him a bit more and tie into the natural palette.”

Then, with both hands clasped at his chest, he gave a delighted sigh. “But otherwise, it’s perfect. You’ve captured it even better than I imagined from my silly little scribbles.”

She pulls a piece of paper from the back of her clipboard and hands it to St. Peter. “Here’s the estimate. The deposit is highlighted here,” She pointed to a number highlighted in pink, “and then the rest is due upon pick up, and that’s right here above the total.”

“Oh wow… wowww, these are just heavenly!” he murmured, fingertips hovering just above the paper as if afraid touching them might smudge the magic. “The color pops are such a clever touch—like little halos for each character!” His wings gave a delighted twitch behind him, nearly knocking into a nearby display stand.

He blinked back to focus at her suggestion, nodding thoughtfully. “Hmm, that does make sense… we were worried about how the weight might affect her wings during the lift in the finale—oh, it’s very dramatic, she’s suspended midair while the Ark turns on the moutains pinacle! It’s giving divine judgment and inner peace!”

Peter tilted his head, clearly turning the options over in his mind. “I think scaling it down just a smidge might be the wisest choice. We can still make it shimmer like starlight on holy water, but we won’t have to worry about her accidentally getting yanked out of the rafters... again. I’ll have the staging team measure the rigging again just to be sure.”

He looked up at Betty with a bright, earnest smile. “You really get it, you know? You’ve got such a strong eye for storytelling through fabric—it's like... wardrobe gospel! We are so blessed to have you on this!”

“Well, I have been in theater for a while. It’s where I started. I was working for the heavenly theater when I found Andy and I’ve been stuck here helping this lug ever since.” The bite was taken off the sentence by the pull of their lips drawing a smile. “I still work for the theater on the side, but I’ve kind of offloaded a lot of the work over there to some of the younger come-ups. And older come-ups, I suppose.”

Betty turned back to the sketches, her eyes roving over them one last time to ensure there weren’t any issues, a perfectionist at heart. “Is there anything you want updated? I have different color options for any of it or I could change out the cuts. I think that having simple for most of them would be best, but I’m willing to make any changes to the designs you wish.”

He was dressed a little more formally this time—his choir robes freshly pressed, hair combed into tidy curls, and a hopeful smile tugging at his lips. With careful reverence, he made his way to the counter, setting the folder down like it held the crown jewels. She collected her file full of sketches, a few options for the star depending on opulence or extravagance. He seemed pretty interested in making her into something of a shining specter above the crowd, something with trains and wing extensions but the size of the outfit would be an issue depending on the set. To avoid that issue, she also gave an option that was a little smaller and was in part inspired by the transformation to full seraphim of the High Seraphim, utilizing battery operated lights to almost blind the audience as her wings came out and then left her shimmering.

He carefully set his folder down and leaned in, clearly eager, but also with the reverence of someone about to witness something sacred.

“The show’s coming along beautifully! We’ve been rehearsing the Act II monologue, the one where the star speaks to the floodwaters—very dramatic. A few tears have already been shed. From me, mostly.” He gave a sheepish little chuckle, then tilted his head. “I can’t wait to see the sketches! I hope the inspiration struck you like, um… divine lightning?” His voice went up a pitch at the end, clearly unsure if that metaphor worked, but too chipper to let it hang for long.

Saint Peter stepped through the door of Suits-N-Such, his wings fluttering softly as he glanced around with wide-eyed curiosity. His eyes landed on the colorful swatches of fabric neatly displayed on the counter, each one more vibrant than the last. He couldn’t help but run his fingers over a few, admiring the soft textures. After a moment of contemplation, he gingerly tapped the bell on the counter, the chime echoing in the quiet shop. He straightened up, standing a little too eagerly, waiting for the shop owner to make their appearance.

“Oh! Um…” He clasped his hands together, glancing aside awkwardly before looking back up with a soft, apologetic laugh. “I-I’m so sorry if I came at a bad time! I—I didn’t mean to cause a fuss, I promise! I just—well, I was actually hoping to ask a little favor, on behalf of the Angelic Drama Club, if that’s okay?”

He shifted his weight, eyes scanning the shop as if looking for somewhere to hide from the sharpness in Andy’s tone. “You’ve got such lovely taste, by the way! Really! Um... sorry, again.”

Why are you coming to my shop specifically?”

And everyone just raves about it, so I, as founder and drama club chair, thought it might be wonderful to commission a few pieces for the leads from local Heavenly businesses! For, um… exposure?” He winced slightly, then quickly added, “O-of course you'd be paid properly! I just thought it'd be a nice chance to... collaborate?”

He turned around and stepped back into the back, his anger not quelling in the slightest.

“Who’s out there? Is it that croc girl?” Betty asked, setting her project aside in a rush.

“Better. St Peter. Needs help with drama club.”

She turned on a customer service smile and walked out. “Hello! How can I help you?”

So we’re thinking elegant, but with a touch of fantasy flair.”

He gestured lightly as he spoke, getting more animated. “The leads are a young man—Noah, of course—and his wife, but the real showstopper? The star—quite literally! She’s a celestial narrator who, in the final act, transforms into the dove! So she’ll need two costumes, and I’d really love for her to stand out. Something radiant! Dreamy! Like… well, like she could guide a whole ark through a storm with just her sparkle!”

If you want more elegance we should get it from the cut of the linen tunic and not sacrifice the accuracy of the materials.” She walked over to her drawing board and started sketching.

“As for the dove, her character should already have notes of it before transforming. Silks and feathers to foreshadow. Maybe something covering her wings to hide them against her outfit but then when she transforms they spring out and shine. They have glitters you can put in your feathers—they’re a bitch to get out but they stick well for performances. Maybe line the inside of her wings with them? Past that, give me a week and I can have something sketched out for you.”
