Holiday Craft Planning
I come from a family where Christmas was, without a doubt, the biggest holiday of the year. Hosting massive cookie parties for everyone we knew, having a different (themed) Christmas tree in every room of the house, driving around with thermoses of cocoa to look at holiday lights. All of those things were just fond staples of my childhood.
As an adult, I’ve picked up on my family’s love of Christmas. But as a crafter, that also means planning ahead for Christmas as early as August!
The majority of the gifts that I give each year are handmade. Could I give everyone a store-bought gift card? Sure. But why? Handmade gifts come with all of the extra attention to detail, personalization, and -most importantly – love that a “Oh, and add a $20 gift card” at the grocery store checkout just feels like it lacks.
The downside is, of course, that crafting takes time and effort. I can’t just wave a magic wand and complete a cross-stitching project in the same 15 minutes it would take me to run to the store. To me, the trade-off is totally worth it! But it does mean that I have to be thinking ahead.
