The mage apprentice and the templar in training
with all of my heart, i am obsessed with whatever bioware were trying to do with a female warden and bann teagan.
of course there’s the obvious romantic reading, which is incredibly compelling already given that afaik teagan doesn’t treat the warden differently depending on whether they’re a mage or what race they are, and on top of this there’s a chance teagan is married by da2 so there’s a lot to unpack with regards to his feelings for the warden. but also there’s the simple idealisation of her. this woman appears seemingly from nowhere and saves him multiple times during his worst moments of despair and they first meet in a chantry - a building partly dedicated to a female saviour figure. while the warden is not heavily associated with religion, I’d probably read this as teagan finding himself devoted to her in that vein
transsexual seinfeld episode where jerry’s girlfriend asks him to pretend to be cis to meet her parents. they try to get to know him, and he accidentally lets enough pre-transition information slip that her parents think he’s gay.
elaine goes to a function with a long women’s restroom line and decides to just use the men’s room. she gets kicked out and is furious on principle. she fights with jerry about this. “you did all that work to use the women’s restroom and you’re gonna go right back to using the men’s? what was it all even for?”
“y’know, elaine, you don’t know how good you have it. if i’d known the state of the men’s room before transitioning, i might not have gone through with it”
“you’d stay in the closet forever to avoid the men’s room?”
“not forever, just till they got their act together.”
“of course.”
“you know, with all the hullabaloo about informed consent, you’d think they’d tell you about the state of it in there before you start hormones.”
this sparks an argument between elaine and george about who’s had to sacrifice more in everyday life in their transition. george is furious that she thinks restroom lines are worse than balding. “look at my head elaine! did estrogen do this to you??”
