You cannot make someone understand a message they are not ready to receive.

love is choice. show up. consistently.
Depression doesn’t feel like the world is ending.
It feels like you’re burning to the ground as the rest of world continues to breathe.

hoping you’d find the strength to get through whatever it is that’s causing you so much pain.

Doing this does, eventually, get easier. I’m not good at all of them yet – and screw the middle one because even pre-pandemic discussing things in person was usually not an improvement for me – but “thanks for your patience”, “happy to help”, and “let me know if you have questions” feel natural, now.
There are these moments when silence is the only response we can give to our trauma. Where the noise of what happened to you is too loud for you to think over, let alone speak. This is how evil perpetuates pain .
This is how depression keeps you in its hands .
You will never convince me that hell on this earth is anything but silent, because torture is not loud. Torture is not being able to speak, even when you know your voice is the very thing that would set you free .
Freedom is found in finally exposing the pain. Letting our wounds corrode the ears of the very evil that has haunted us. And eventually, we find liberation in the realisation that the very thing that silenced you, becomes the reason that you speak .
