Wacom recently asked me to talk about why I make queer comics, and given there are multiple bills right now floating around in congress that are effectively "we will kill your livelihood if we get a sniff of queer" I had some pretty strong, simply feelings to relay.

Trans people of color!!! Do not let the culture around you stop you from choosing a name that speaks to your heritage. When I was settling on my name, I had white trans people around me tell me that my name would be too hard to pronounce or too long for most people. [Four syllable Latin name, go figure]
I'm glad I didn't listen and decided to stay true to myself and I chose a traditionally Afro-Brazilian that still makes me happy to this day. Don't feel pressured to assimilate or make yourself more palpable for white people, little reminder!

Oh, oh boy, Erin is a lot more scared than he lets on and a lot more egotistical than I previously thought. He genuinely believes NO ONE is his equal, not even gods. He thinks nobody can save him so he thinks he has to solve this impossible problem himself and that TERRIFIES him.
Like imagine thinking your whole life that you truly cannot depend on anyone no matter how much they care because you see yourself as far above them. Imagine thinking you're the most powerful person in the world and still getting scared. Imagine thinking that your life is in danger, and that nobody can save you but yourself, but the thing you need saving from is within you, a part of you.

I know that I had somewhat unusually comprehensive sex ed but it still surprises me every time I'm reminded that some people genuinely think that losing your virginity is a capri sun kind of situation.
Let's say I really wanted to reduce the number of children who die in car accidents. Car accidents are really bad, right? Nobody disagrees about that. And it would be much better for both the environment and the kids' health if they spent more time walking, or taking the bus. Perfectly reasonable. More cars off the road, safer roads, fewer kids getting hurt, healthier kids. A win-win!
Therefore, let's ban children from traveling by car and require all cars to have a scanner on the door that scans the government ID of everyone who gets in the car to make sure no kids are in there. After all, kids get hurt in car accidents all the time! We need to ban this right away!
I have come to the decision that Kendal Fairblade Aurora is nonbinary and or agender. someone asks what gender he is and he says he's a weapon. He has the "we grow" moment and goes "huh I can choose what I want to be. neat." He uses he/him only because that's what Vash uses. I don't think the second occupant of Vash's war incarnation would care much about one binary or another and would just sort of exist. He named himself after a sword.
