Writeblr Intro!

hey, I’m rose (they/he)! 👋

I’m a queer disabled writer writing queer adult fantasy featuring weird, queer disabled characters

I’m always open to asks and tag games!

I’ve dabbled in so many different genres and styles over the years, but love symbolic, poetic writing, and am currently on a secondary world, urban, quest fantasy, and romance kick, with all my WIPs falling into action/adventure

just a warning: I do write detailed sex scenes, a fair amount of graphic violence, and tackle sensitive topics, including the messiness of living with severe mental illnesses and navigating sexual intimacy after sexual trauma.

(though, my usual posts have been the stupid shit I write when I’m bored and tired—my favorite)

this is a new account, but I’m far from new to tumblr and writeblr. this is a second attempt at a writing blog on here for me, with a focus on increasing opportunities for connection for writers. in these trying times, art and connection have never been more crucial, yet unfortunately also most attacked and lacking, respectively.

this week’s theme: pride/prejudice

share a physical intimacy*-related snippet that either features the word “pride/proud” or revolves around (re)affirming another in the face of sexuality- or gender-related prejudice** and/or other insecurities***

*physical intimacy, yes, does include nonsexual acts such as bathing, dressing, touch, generally being nude around another, etc.

**such as heterosexism, puritanical views, sexism, and/or cissexism (internalized and/or external)

***such as gender dysphoria, not believing you’re “queer enough”, anxiety over lack of familiarity with partners of a certain gender and/or anatomy, etc.

this week’s discussion question: does queerness shape the way you portray sexuality on the page? (such as in spurring you to write Own Voice material, and/or coloring your beliefs around sexual liberation and/or conceptualizations of love and relationships (all kinds).) or the character identities/identity struggles that often appear in your works?

this question is more general. it is not meant to suggest queer existence is inherently suggestive. this is just the game it is part of, which is not necessarily always explicitly queer-centric.

purpose: provide external motivation and an excuse for getting words down on the page, establish a positive space, and inspire experimentation. cultivate community through a shared interest in writing.

how does it work? join me in generating a prompt (ex.: dice rolls, things around you, etc.), getting words down under certain parameters (sprints, styles, genres, etc.), encouraging one another, and/or sharing writing.

some days writing prompts will be given and others will ask you to generate them. not all days will have parameters and some will have more/less than others. encouragement and sharing help keep the game fun!

Woanton Weekends: Sexy Snippet Share Saturdays & Suggestive Sundays

when? every other weekend, Saturdays and Sundays. starting probably in mid-June started May 28th.

what? an open invitation to share suggestive and/or suggestive writing snippets, talk shop, and celebrate how expressions of sexuality and intimacy show up in our writing.

what will it look like? a “writing prompt” and a discussion prompt will be released for this game every other weekend.

Friday Thursday Wednesday: prompts go live to give those who wish to use the game to spur new writing instead of searching their WIP(s) for already written material time to scribble, and to give time for contemplation. this post will be unrebloggable.

Thursday: an introduction post will go live.

Saturday: a new post with the writing share prompt will go live, which will have reblogs turned on. writing share prompts can look like sharing a snip with a specific action, item, or word in it.

Sunday: a new post with the discussion prompt will go live, which will have reblogs turned on. discussion prompts can look like anything from talking opinions on the technicalities of writing smut/portraying sexuality, even down to sharing our favorite words, to talking about our characters.

Woanton Weekends: Pride Edition

Overview

Woanton Weekends, a biweekly game for talking about sexuality and sexual expressions in our stories, is running TWO Pride-themed weeks this June! the broader focus is intimacy, connection, and queerness

Week #1 - June 4-7: will involve more general prompts relating to sexuality, gender identity, and relationships

this is an event geared towards sharing and discussing steamy writing, however, ANYONE is always welcome to answer questions as they befit and interest them, regardless of if they write erotic works or not

Week #2 - June 18-21: will involve more explicitly sensual and sexual prompts, such as that relating to sensual and sexual exploration, kink, and sexual subcultures

these get reposted a whole lot from here to reddit to twitter to tiktok and on and on, and i don't personally care whether or not i'm credited. i made these for everyone to use, enjoy, and find meaning in them. i appreciate folks who do credit me, but if able, please at least link to the threadless shop in the previous post - folks can get an official shirt where 90% of earnings go to trans led orgs focused on mental health (which is an important matter in general, but very personal to me) and not from a scam bot site selling AI-churned maga garbage where you probably won't get one anyway. i also suggest downloading the files from my ko-fi - they are free/PWYW and you can use them to make your own shirt, patch, embroidery project, whatever. tips are always nice, cuz i do like a pizza now and then, but never required for download.

final thought - breaking the pride tradition and more than likely won't make a new piece. the top one from TDOV is all i'm making this year. i have my focus on other projects currently and i don't want to force a poster design. these came from a specific head space and my current head space is Very Tired lmao so i wanna work on other things. 👍

thinking back, I am so glad I decided to give one of the main characters of my WIP a much milder presentation of Tourette’s than I have. bc I wrote one short scene that featured a relative of his who has a more severe presentation and one of her tics has been forever burned into a pathway in my brain since.

my tics would be so much more active and niche if she had an actual presence in the story jfc lol
