I can’t believe I’m finally updating La Mer 🫣 I edited chapters 3 - 4 - 5 a LOT before posting so make sure to read it again before reading the update!
I just wanted to take this moment to thank you everyone for your support, I've been working endlessly to get my backlog of work available to you all :} again I want to express my deepest sincerest thank you for loving my work and supporting me through it all
This new information has Levi sighing as he sets his now empty glass on the bar. “You fucking owe me, Far.”
“See ya’ in the morning,” Isabel sings-songs as he rises from his stool. Levi throws her the bird in response. He has no intention of spending another night with Erwin. Sure, he was a good lay—a great lay—but Levi doesn’t double–dip. He beat the blond, had a good time, and took his money. He’s not one to press his luck; knows Erwin could try and shake him down for the cash he took. Which is why he is just going to ask if Erwin was genuine about letting Furlan borrow his book. Nothing more.
As he walks across the bar he tells himself that he’s not going to think about the way Erwin was the perfect paradox; whispering filth into his ear while acting like a gentleman as he took Levi’s coat. Or how he made Levi ride his thigh with a bruising grip on his thighs, but was considerate enough to not leave any visible marks. He’s definitely not going to think back to how Erwin made an absolute mess, coming inside him once and then a second time on his face, only to take the time to clean him with a soft warm towel. And there’s absolutely no way he’s going to let himself think about how thick Erwin’s—
“Hey, Blondie.”
“Well would you look who it is?” The brunette answers first.
Levi ignores her, looking to Erwin. “Were you serious about letting Far borrow that book?”
“Of course I—”
“Absolutely not.” The brunette cuts in again. This time, Levi glares at her.
“I wasn’t talking to you.”
“Doesn’t matter, I’m talking to you.” She points an accusatory finger in his direction so aggressively it shifts her balance and sends a splash of cheap smelling beer across the table.
“Damnit, Hange.” The tallest of the trio mumbles as he scooches back in his seat to avoid getting wet.
Hange ignores everyone and continues. “Just because you somehow managed to beat Erwin here last week doesn’t mean you get to start taking favors for free!”
“Somehow? He played like shit.”
“Hey! I’ll have you know Erwin here is a pro.”
“Yeah? A pro at getting his ass kicked?”
“Ha! Now that’s rich!” Hange shouts and goes to climb over Erwin’s lap. “You’ve no idea just who you’re messing with here!”
Erwin pushes Hange back into her seat. “Would you calm down? I offered to help his friend when I was getting us drinks.”
Hange slumps back in her seat. “You’ve become such a push–over, ya know?”
“Oi, can I have the book or not?” Levi asks over their bickering.
“Yea—”
“Rematch!!” Hange shouts overtop Erwin.
Levi pinches the bridge of his nose. “You want a rematch for a book?”
“That’s really not necessa—”
“Yes!”

“I get the book if I win?”
Erwin nods and Levi decides to take the risk. “My remainder.”
The first trick of the round, Erwin plays an eight to Levi’s King.
The second trick goes to Erwin, who plays an Ace to Levi’s Jack.
“Ready?” Erwin asks, hiding his lips behind the final card.
“Always,” Levi responds and lays down another King.
Erwin smiles as though he couldn’t be more delighted with Levi’s play, and, for a heartbeat, Levi worries he’s fumbled.
