Jason's monologue in UTRH was a monologue because that's the only way his voice and his thoughts can reach us in a story that decline his narrative. It was a monologue because that was him confronting and questioning Bruce, the narrative about everything he represents and more. It was a monologue because it represents a shift from a narrative that include everybody but the victim to the victim's narrative.

It was a monologue because it was Jason forcing the readers and Bruce to listen to his narrative, to see his perspective, do hear about his thoughts and know about his minds and to see the world the way it is. It was a monologue so we could understand Jason. It was a monologue because it was truthful, honest, sincere, and it was a monologue because-

Because it was not a dialogue, because a dialogue would require Bruce to respond to Jason with the same level of effort that Jason did, but he didn't. It was a monologue because this guy is pissing you off when Jason was standing there, fighting tooth and nail for Bruce to understand him and he made an effort to understand Bruce, to hear his reasoning too; but Batman was pissing you off because not only he didn't make an effort to respond to Jason with the same kind of effort that Jason did, he also shove away all of Jason's effort claiming that he wouldn't understand.

Jason was showing Bruce his heart bleeing in his ribcage, all his emotions and thoughts and tears and let him and the readers hear the anger in his voice when he said "Why on gods' earth is he still alive?!?" and the tremble in his voices when he said "...because he took me away from you." And all Bruce can answer him is just "I can't"?

He asked Bruce multiple times and wanted to hear from his perspective but Bruce just told him that he won't understand.

He tried his best to, was desparated to understand Bruce and to listen to his reasons and all Bruce did is pulled the cliche "If I do that, I'd never be able to go back." To respond to all the things Jason said! That motivating, moving speech! Just that cliche reasoning. Ignoring what he'd done in the past... I swear that that's not even good enough for the readers and you know that, let alone Jason. He really just went "Yeah I want to kill him I want to kill Joker so bad I really want to kill him I thought about it but I won't anyway."

Jason talked with words, words, moving and powerful and sincere words and Bruce respond with cliche, shallow, useless words like he basically just "I can't. I'm sorry. I just can't." "I'm sorry I failed you, Jason." "Stop this, you know I won't..." "Stop..." "No..." "Don't..."

At least... at least try to respond with some more effort, even just half as what Jason did! It was a monologue because Jason was the only one who was trying to talk and was trying to... try and Bruce was there and he just went I'm sorry I can't don't stop no. Like hello. He was truly disregarding all of Jason's effort and hard work by simply standing there, hemming and hawing, and saying, uhm hmn hnnn I can't. He didn't even try. (Like did he really even listen to Jason's word and let that get into his head, like actually listen and try to understand what Jason was trying to say and his perspective and try to understand why Jason felt that way why he was so angry and how he was showing Bruce how it felt like to be ignored and disregarded as victim, did he even try.)

Jason poured his whole heart into that conversation and confrontation, he was deadly serious, whereas Bruce was just..........

And then he/ the narrative just silenced Jason shut him down wtf ughh I can't.

willis todd mustve been such a funny guy before The Horrors. this man got a son and his first move was to hold him up over the city like simba and say "this shits all yours lil guy trust youre gonna be the greatest of all time." this is the equivalent of having a kid and immediately putting them on to Avatar: The Last Airbender and then telling them theyre the avatar.

Had the epiphany that Jason Todd is revictimised by his family all the time. He's victimised in aditf of course, but he's also victimised in under the hood with Bruce... pretty much literally killing him. And in battle for the cowl where he commits suicide directly because of Dick playing Bruce' message. And in Gotham War, where Bruce allows him to sacrifice himself for him. That boy is nothing but victimised time and time again and yet, if you acknowledge his victimhood, people call you crazy

(The first thing Bruce said after Jason removed the bandages and revealed that he's "Jason" in Hush. Bruce didn't know that he was the real Jason. Still, that's what Jason first heard from him.)

For someone who stated to be "angry when he came back," his reactions is a lot of crying. Angry crier Jason my beloved.

"Jason was angry when he came back" I wouldn't even deny that, because he was, and who WOULDN'T be pissed about that hello. But can we NOT sum up all of his feelings and emotions and reactions since he came back collect into a ball and call it "angry." He was feeling hurt, betrayed, dissapointed, deppressed etc. Look at him just crying out his eye balls. Look at him when he found out about Tim Drake. I heard Bruce or Dick very much sum up his reactions when he came back to "he was angry because Bruce didn't avenge him." Can we not. Average dc treatment for Jason Todd. "He is angry" and that's all we need to know, let's just put aside all of his legitimate reasons for being angry and any other emotions.

Jason lives au where it's Jason-centric? Do. Not. Include. Tim.

He is irrelevant and should not be part of the story that's focusing on Jason.

He also has no reason to join, because he only did because Jason died and Batman got out of control, beating up any petty criminal to the point of going to the ICU.

So by having Jason live, he has no reason to join Bruce and co.

And no, he isn't abused, lonely, or anything like that which would 'allow' him to become adopted. That is just fanon shit to make Janet and Jake Drake worse than they actually are (although the only thing I'd accept is neglect, but it's still iffy for me), and make it seem like he has no support system or friends around, which he literally does :/

If a Jason live au is Jason centric, I expect it to be about Jason. Not fucking Tim.

I think this answered all lot of my question. Dc always address Jason as the "bad" one, the "failed" partner, the one who commits all the mistakes and address Bruce as the hero, but I was always wondering did they forget all of that when they were writing stories about Bruce and Jason. Because whatever Bruce did with Jason, it's not heroic.

But this? I think this panel just answered it.

He lost that role when he was playing into Sheila's role in adift: the role of a bad parent, the role of a betrayer. He lost his hero role forever in front of Jason, he gave up that role of the hero coming to rescue back in aditf, even if it failed, he lost that role forever when he stood at Magdala Valley and told Jason: "This is where you died." Or he even lost that role long ago before in utrh, where Jason tried to staged back aditf and wanting Bruce to choose him, but he didn't. He will never- he won't- he can't never be "a hero" in front of Jason anymore, because he once denied that role forever and turned himself into another role, and that's all he will always be in front of Jason: a bad parent. That's all he is. In front of Jason. He just turned himself into Sheila.

tl;dr: Bruce can never be a hero again, not in front of Jason. He just another bad parent, another failed father, in front of Jason. He can't be the hero dc wants him to be, in front of Jason. Because he's not.
