my twist on the black mage Tifa design
Violet and Xaden
i'm trying to fight the second one but THE VOICES-
There’s nowhere in existence you could go that I wouldn’t find you, Violence.
“You save me!”
“Yes. I caught the Taumoeba in time. I still have fuel. Set up the tunnel. Im taking you to Erid.”
“You save me and you save Erid!” He squeaks.
People, for christ's sake the number of rads released by the camera noted in the manual was for the front of the camera, not for the inside of the submarine. It doesn't show, in the manual, the number of rads released inside, which was protected. It more accurately says that "the risk to the crew is minimal but it's compounded with each use. Use at your own risk."
Simon was not doomed from the first button press alone, it added up during the extent of the movie. He could have made it if they had found him sooner, if he hadn't been separated from the tow ship. And even as he was lost, using the camera still gave him a better chance of survival than not using it. It was a desperate situation, made worse by the fact he did still have a chance.
quick warmup sketch of nahri from the daevabad trilogy
things I won’t let ai take away from human writers
em dash
“not x, not y, but z”
short sentence stacking as a stylistic choice
none of these belong to ai. these are all what human writers have been writing since day one, way before ai was invented. ai was trained to mimic how human writers write — so em dash, not x not y but z and short sentence stacking would never have been used by ai at all if ai hadn’t learned and mimicked them from human writers.
no, you are not “fighting against ai” by accusing every work that has em dash, not x not y but z or short sentence stacking in it as ai-generated, you are helping ai harm the writing community by engaging in witch hunt and scaring human writers away from creating/sharing their works for fear of being wrongly accused of using ai.
speculations, accusations and ai witch hunt harm the writing community as much as ai does, if not more.
I haven't seen anyone do this yet and I think it is a painful void in the Project Hail Mary fandom. Guys. Put Grace in a space ball on Erid and have him break down Rocky's door and roll around knocking things over. Cmon guys.
"Wow Rock you live like this? Junk all over the floor and parts everywhere? Very messy."
"Rocky is not enjoying Grace's games, Statement."
Grace: I can’t sleep! There’s so much science to do! And I just met an alien!
Rocky, holding a stick: You’re going to honk-mi-mi-mi land or I am sending you to honk-mi-mi-mi land. Choice yours.
liking a ship but disliking the distinct set of stock fanon that they have been assigned is like one of those punishments dante came up with when he wrote the worldbuilding for hell in inferno
they got a lotta time to kill on that ship... i think they were goofin a lot :)
[pls rb!]
"why can't they just be friends?" not in the homophobic sense, but in the "in your need to center romance in everything you are missing the whole point of the media in question" sense
ok prev's tags felt important to me so they're getting peer reviewed
... and he can't keep his glasses on his face.
Stratt trying to recruit the molecular biologist who cursed out a man at a UNESCO conference and finding mild-mannered Dr. Ryland Grace stumbling all over his words and himself, and there's this split second where she's, like, "yeah, fuck, i don't know about this" and then she realizes. this guy. all fun facts and fiddlesticks, believed in his theory so staunchly that he'd curse out a man at a UNESCO conference. it's not much of a backbone, it's a small but very sturdy backbone, and it's just enough that having him and his politeness around will comfort all the right people and his mild eccentrics will piss off all the ones Stratt doesn't care for. bonus, he's a teacher, so she can delegate the task of keeping everyone around her informed to him--and he'll do it, too, because he's nice like that. he's perfect. there has never been a more perfecter guy to just have around for convenience's sake. get that nerd in the back of a van right this second.
writing a canon divergent fix-it fic while also shaking my head to show that i actually really like the canon's tragic narrative and am not trying to say i think it would be better if canon was like this
Adrian working on Ryland’s dome enclosure habitat makes me think… that has to have been a VERY high-value and in-demand job for the last several decades. Adrian spending their time ever since astrophage started affecting Erid’s climate working on habitat enclosures for species sensitive to climate change. Building oceanic enclosures to preserve marine species nearly wiped out by breeding astrophage in the oceans (algae bloom to end all algae blooms)(Erid deserves their own “paving the Sahara” moment).
And when the Blip-A has been gone twice as long as it should have been with no indication of what happened to them, when the astrophage has been attacking Erid’s sun for 50 years and they are starting to feel the pressure of its effects, when the Tau Ceti plan looks like a failure and the whole crew aboard has been assumed dead and they need to figure out something else… Eridian governments approach Adrian’s dome habitat team with the serious question of how much of the Eridian population could feasibly be moved into climate controlled geothermally-powered xenonite dome cities. (The answer is inevitably “not enough.” But the debates over sending a second crew to Tau Ceti in case what happened to the Blip-A was a weird fluke are not finding any consensus and the planet is snowballing towards total climate collapse and the world is ending and Adrian is bitterly glad that they and Rocky never had children because what kind of future is even left—)
So when Rocky rolls up some 20 years after having been declared dead going HI I HAVE THE SOLUTION TO THE ASTROPHAGE PROBLEM AND ALSO A MALNOURISHED ALIEN WHO NEEDS A SEALED ENVIRONMENT LIVING ENCLOSURE RIGHT NOW, I think it would have been a HUGE relief to pivot to building That. And they have a lot of experience at this point!
