Bou-Bou (French Bulldog) Free Pattern!

Materials

•4.5mm hook  •Colour yarn of choice, sport weight •6mm safety eyes •polyfill •black embroidery floss 

Eyelids (optional):

1. MR 6 (6) 2. Inc each st (12). Fasten off and leave tail for sewing. Stick safety eyes between any two stitches in the outer round, and fold the fabric over the eye a bit.

Head: 

1. MR 5 (5) 2. Inc each st (10) 3. *[1 sc, inc 1], repeat to end of round (15) 4. *[2 sc, inc 1], repeat to end of round (20) 5. *[3 sc, inc 1], repeat to end of round (25)  6. *[4 sc, inc 1], repeat to end of round (30) 7. Sc 30 (30) 8. Same 9. Same 10. *[4 sc, dec 1], repeat to end of round (25) 11. Insert safety eyes after row 6 12. Stuff the head firmly with polyfill 13. *[3 sc, dec 1], repeat to end of round (20) 14. *[2 sc, dec 1], repeat to end of round (15) 15. *[1 sc, dec 1], repeat to end of round (10) 16. Dec 5 times, fasten off and hide ends in the head

Snout 

We’re going to crochet an oval and just make it a bowl.

Round 1. Ch 7, turn. In 2nd ch from hook, hdc all the way across, then 3 hdc in the last ch. Rotate to work the other side. Hdc in the next and each following st. until the end, then 2 hdc in last ch., sl st to join. Round 2. Ch 1, hdc 6, inc hdc in 7th st, hdc, inc in 9th st, hdc 6, inc, hdc, inc, sl st to join. Round 3. Ch 1, hdc 7, inc in 8th st, hdc, inc in 10th st, hdc 8, inc in 12th st, hdc, inc in 14th st, sl st to join. Round 4. Ch 1, hdc 8, inc in 9th st, hdc, inc in 11th st, hdc, inc in 13th st, hdc 9, inc, hdc, inc, sl st to join. Rounds 5-10: hdc in ea. st. Fasten off and leave tail for sewing.

Nose

With embroidery floss or thinner black yarn, embroider a rectangular nose. Mine is actually more of a trapezoid, but you do you. :) I embroidered it centred and one row from the foundation chain, so the nose sits close to the “top” of the snout on one of the wider sides.

Jowls 

1. Ch 15 2. Starting in 2nd ch from hook, sc 13 3. Hdc 5 in next st 4. Continuing around the other side of the chain, Sc 13, 5 Hdc in last st, Sl st to first st, turn, ch 1.; this will shape portion that goes over the snout.

Working back across the side now:  5. Hdc, hdc, inc. Ch 1, turn.  6. Inc, hdc, hdc, hdc. Ch 1, turn.  7. Hdc x 4, inc. Ch 1, turn  8. Inc, hdc x 5. Ch 1, turn. 9. Hdc x 6, inc. Ch 1, turn. 10. Inc., hdc x 7. Fasten off.

Go to the opposite side of the long strip that goes over the nose, and repeat rows 5-10 on that side, so that all of the increases are at the front (going in the same direction as the first ones). 

Ears 

1. Ch 8 2. Starting at 2nd ch from hook, Sc 6 3. Sc 3 in next st 4. Starting in the same stitch but Working the other side, in the round, hdc 6 5. Sc 2, inc 6. Sc 4 7. Hdc 3 8. Sc in next 2 sts, inc 1 9. 3 dc 10. 2 hdc 11. 2 sc, inc 12. 2 sc 13. 3 dc 14. 2 hdc 15. 2 sc in next st 16. 2 sc 17. Sl in next st, fasten off leaving tail for sewing

Body 

1. MR 8 (8) 2. 2 sts in each sc (16) 3. *[1 sc, inc] repeat to end of round 4. *[2 sc, inc] repeat to end of round 5. *[3 sc, inc] repeat to end of round 6. Sc in each st (35) 7. Same 8. Same 9. *[3 sc, dec] repeat to end of round (30) 10. Sc in each st (30) 11. *[2 sc, dec] repeat to end of round (20) 12. Sc in each st (20) 13. Hind legs (make 2)

1. MR 6 2. 2sc in each st (12) 3. Sc in each st (12) 4. *[2 sc, dec] three times (9) 5. *[1 sc, dec] three times (6) 6. Sc 6 7. Sc 6 8. Stuff with polyfill, then use 3sc to crochet the top closed, leaving a long tail for sewing

Front legs (make 2) 

MR 6 sc (6); optional: leave a long tail for sewing if you want to attach the leg without having to piece the body and legs together with a third, unattached string of yarn  2: 2 sc in each st (12) 3: *1 sc, 1 inc. Repeat from * to end of round (18) 4: *2 sc, 1 inc. Repeat from * to end of round (24) 5-7: 10 hdc, 14 loose slip sts (24) 8-12: sc all the way around (24) 13: *2 sc, dec. repeat from * to end of round (18) 14-20: sc all the way around (18) Start stuffing 21: *1 sc, 1 dec. Repeat from * to end of round (12) 22-24: sc all the way around (12) 25: *1 sc, 1 inc. Repeat from * to end of round (18) 26: * 2 sc, 1 inc. Repeat from * to end of round (24) 27: sc all the way around (24) 28: *2 sc, dec. repeat from * to end of round (18) 29: *1 sc, 1 dec. Repeat from * to end of round (12) 30: dec all the way around (6) Fasten off and sew shut. Tail

---Button style (see fawn Frenchie butt below):--- 1. MR 6 2. Inc ea st. (12) 3. [Sc, Inc] x 3 (18) 4. sc in ea st. 5. sc in ea st. 6. fasten off, leaving a tail to sew it to the body. You can just fold this or lightly stuff it.

---Piggly-wiggly style (see brindle Frenchie butt below):--- (It should be naturally curly. If not, use a smaller hook and/or tighter stitch.) 1. Ch 21, turn. 2. Starting with 2nd ch from hook, hdc all the way across (20). ch 1 and turn. 3. HDC all the way back. Fasten off and sew it to the body. 

Assembly 

1. Sew the ears to the head, spaced evenly and wide without making them stick out horizontally. Fold the bottom of the ears to shape them properly. 2. Sew snout to head centred one row below eyes 3. Sew middle of jowl together to create roll on top of nose. 4. Sew jowl around snout, getting close at the middle to create the split lip 5. Sew head to potato body 6. Sew back legs at your desired angle at the bottom of the potato. Make sure you pin them in place and the placement is aligned with the pup’s face before you start sewing. 7. Sew front legs so that the shoulders stick out a bit and the front paws just touch the back ones (if the dog is sitting). Remember that a sitting Frenchie really has no neck. lol

Voilà ! That should do it!

Free Pattern: The Child (Baby Yoda)

Basic Child shown on the left. Add embellishments to make him a little bit extra. If you use this pattern please credit @sunnybeeco.

Materials I used:

• 3.75 mm crochet hook • Red Heart Super Saver yarn in Frosty Green • Loops and Threads Impeccable yarn in Soft Taupe (really just use any Med 4 yarn of your choice) • Black felt for eyes • Black embroidery floss (to sew eyes on), white embroidery floss (optional: for eye shine) • Yarn needle and embroidery floss needle. • Polyfill stuffing.

Head (In green):

•magic circle, 6 sc Round 2: inc ea. st (12) Round 3: sc, inc... repeat all the way around (18) Round 4: 2 sc, inc... repeat to end of round (24) Round 5: 3 sc, inc... repeat to end of round (30) Round 6: 4 sc, inc... repeat to end of round (36) Round 7: 5 sc, inc... repeat to end of round (42) Round 8: 6 sc, inc... repeat to end of round (48) Round 9: 7 sc, inc... repeat to end of round (54) Round 10: 8 sc, inc... repeat to end of round (60) Round 11: 9 sc, inc... repeat to end of round (66) Rounds 12-20: sc all the way around (66) Round 21: 9 sc, dec... repeat to end of round (60) Round 22: 8 sc, dec... repeat to end of round (54) Round 23: 7 sc, dec... repeat to end of round (48) Round 24: 6 sc, dec... repeat to end of round (42) Round 25: 5 sc, dec... repeat to end of round (36) Round 26: 4 sc, dec... repeat to end of round (30) Start stuffing Round 27: 3 sc, dec... repeat to end of round (24) Round 28: 2 sc, dec... repeat to end of round (18) Finish stuffing. Brow-bone:

Ch 26. In 2nd chain from hook, hdc all the way down chain. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Ears (make 2):

So. You’re kind of making a long right angle triangle, then folding the long straight side down, it will make a pointy thin ear for The Child

Row 1: chain 20. Turn. Row 2: starting from 2nd chain from hook, sc 1. Hdc in all other sts. Turn. (19) Row 3: Ch 2, Hdc 18, sc last st, turn. (19) Row 4: ch 1, sc in 1st, hdc 18. Turn (19) Row 5: ch2, hdc 18, 1 sc (19) Row 6: ch 1, sc in 1st st, hdc 17. Turn (19) Row 7: ch 2, hdc 14, sc 1. Turn (15) Row 8: NO ch, sc in 2nd st from hook, Hdc to end. Turn (14) Row 9: ch 2, hdc 10, sc 1, turn (11) Row 10: NO ch, sc in 2nd st from hook, hdc 9. (10) Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Fold the ears, inserting a pipe-cleaner for structure, and sew the fold before sewing them on the head.

Face: Eyes:

Using black felt, cut out one eye 1.5” in diameter. Slowly trim down to your chosen shape and size. Use the first eye as a template for the other. Using black embroidery floss, sew eyes in place around the edges.

Sew the browbone on above the eyes.

Optional eye lids: Ch 30 with the green yarn, then pin and sew above the eyes and nose as pictured below. You may have to adjust the length of the chain depending on how you want the lids to fit on the face.

Optional Eye Shines: Using white embroidery floss, sew a single stitch into each eye to create a shine (pictured below).

Nose:

Using green yarn, thread a yarn needle and come up from the bottom of the head. At the base of the eyes and in between the eyes, sew horizontally across 3 sts. Repeat 3 times, pull yarn down to base of head, and fasten off. Ends will be hidden by the collar.

Body (Tan yarn)

•Ch 23 Round 1: 3rd ch from hook: dc 19. 4 dc in the last ch. Dc 18 on opposite side of chs to first st. dc in the st with the chain. Sl st to join. (42) Round 2: Ch 3, 2 Dc into 1st st, then 18 Dc. 2 dc in next 4 sts. 17 dc. 2 dc in next 2 sts, then dc in same st as the chain. Sl st into first st. (50) Round 3: Ch 3. 2 dc in first 2 sts, 19 dc. 2 dc in next 2 sts, dc (should be halfway point). 2 dc in next 3 sts. 21 dc, 2 dc in next 2sts, dc in st with chain, sl st to join. (60) Round 4: (building up now) Ch 3, back loop only: dc in ea. st around, sl st in 1st to close. (60) Rounds 5-7: Ch 3, dc in ea. st around, sl st in 1st (44) Round 8: ch 2, *[hdc 3, dec], repeat * to end of round. There won’t be an equal amount of stitches for the pattern. That’s fine. Round 9: ch 3, dc in each stitch around Round 10: ch 2, hdc to end of round. Round 11: ch 3, dc all the way around Round 12: ch 2, hdc all the way around Round 13: ch 3, dc all the way around Round 14: ch2, back loop only: hdc 5, dec 1... cont all the way around (it won’t end evenly and that’s fine). Start stuffing. Round 15: ch 2, hdc 4, dec 1... cont to end of row (it won’t end evenly and that’s fine). Round 16: ch 2, hdc 3, dec 1... cont to end of row Round 17: ch 2, hdc 2, dec... cont all the way around Round 18: ch 2, hdc 1, dec... cont all the way around Round 19: ch 2, dec all the way around. Finish stuffing. Round 20: ch 2, dec all the way around. From here, sew the hole closed and hide end inside body.

Arms (make 2):

With green yarn: Magic circle 6sc (6) Round 2: 2sc in ea st (12) Round 3: sc, inc next st, repeat to end of row (18) Rounds 4-6: sc in ea st *Switch to tan yarn.* Round 7-9: Ch3, Dc in ea st around (18) Round 10: ch 3, [2 dc, dec], repeat to end(18) Round 11-12: ch 3, dc in ea st Sc the opening closed, fasten off, leaving a long thread for sewing.

Cuffs:

Attach tan yarn to edge of tan and green on arm, and ch 3.

Dc around the wrist.

Next round, sc around and then fasten off. Hide ends inside arms.

Collar:

In tan yarn, ch 30, turn (for a shorter collar, ch 20 and play with the fold so that the bottom of the collar isn’t visible - see first photo in post)

Rows 1-53: ch 2, hdc across, turn

Row 54: ch2, hdc across, fasten off, leaving a very long tail for sewing

Assembly:

Place the head on top of the body and sew in place. Pin the bottom edge of the collar all the way around the body tightly, leaving enough material above the head to fold over. Make sure that when it is folded down it still covers the bottom half of the face, but don’t sew fold yet.

Attach arms under the folds on either side of the collar at about the same height the head starts. Sew into place, fold collar, and sew the bottom half of the fold overlap together. Secure all ends and hide inside the toy.

Basic design, no eyelids or eyeshines, open/longer collar.

Long time, no post!

So it’s been a while, friend. Sorry for my absence but I’ve been freaking out over the craft show I’m taking part in (6 weeks from now).

I’m sharing my table with a friend for fun, and because I have social anxiety and need someone to keep me grounded, and we’ve been playing around with table setups, pricing, etc. Not quite where I want the table to be, but it’s not terrible!

DIY if my price is too high 😉

Have you ever wondered why handmade products are so pricey? I remember being shocked at the high prices, and even now I’m worried that my prices will be seen as too high for the average Joe or Jane. I promise you though, you’re getting a deal with me. Why? Because I’m still learning how to price and I still lowball myself. Let’s look at my latest commission: a couple of cute kittycats.

These little cuties are 4” tall. They look small and even though I had made this style before, enough time had passed that I truly couldn’t remember how long it took me. I charged the person $30 for the pair, thinking it was only going to take me an hour each, and I could finish the two of them while I watched a movie or something.

Well, they took me 3 hours each, and that doesn’t include the time spent embroidering the faces! If I went by minimum wage alone, I should be charging over $100 for the pair.

Now don’t get me wrong: I’m fine with the $30 because I gain experience from it and let’s face it - this is fun work! But commissions will get closer-to-fair pricing after each sale because I recognize where mistakes have been made.

And for those of you who balk at the high prices of hand made crafts, I absolutely encourage you to take it on as a DIY project because a) you’ll understand where we’re coming from, and b) I bet you’ll have the time of your life!

So I guess this is one of the easiest patterns to think up - so much so that it probably doesn’t count as a pattern at all. Whatever, I made this from brain power so I’m posting it. ;)

Mini Cuppycake

Materials

3.25 mm hook

Medium weight yarn, 3 colours (cake, icing, and cherry)

Icing

1. 6 sts in magic ring (6)

2. 2 sc in ea st (12)

3. Back loop only, sc in ea st around (12)

4. Front loop only: *sc in next st, inc* 6 times (18)

5. Back loop only, *sc in next 2 sts, inc* 6 times (24)

6. Both loops: sc in ea st around (24)

7. Back loop only, sc in ea st around (24)

8. Back loop only, *sc in next 2 sts, dec* 6 times. (18)

Cake

1. Switch to cake colour and continue rounds from icing: Front loop only: sc in ea st around (18)

2. Both loops: sc in ea st around (18)

3. Sc in each st (18)

4. Stuff and shape cupcake. Cont to stuff as needed.

5. Back loops only: *sc in next st, dec*(12)

6. Both loops: st2tog around (6)

7. Pull last st through and use tail to sew hole shut. Hide tail inside cupcake.

Cherry

1. With red yarn, sc 6 sts in Magic Ring (6)

2. *sc in next st, inc* 3 times (9)

3. *sc in next st, dec* 3 times (6)

4. Cut a long tail and pull last st through. Use tail to sew hole shut, then sew cherry onto centre top of cupcake. Hide tail inside cupcake.

Makes a great keychain, desk decoration, or fun gift topper!

Vans style baby booties

Here we go again. “Hey, maybe I’ll make some Vans.” 2 problems:

1. There are a bunch of Vans patterns already out there and they look super similar.

2. I didn’t write down the pattern so none of them are coming out exactly the same.

2. I didn’t write down the heckin pattern again! So the first pair (grey) were the best, and a size 3-6 months. Then came the red pair at 0-3 months, followed by the green pair at 3-6 months again but darned if I could remember how to do the top of the shoe. Probably won’t make any more of these unless someone basically begs me. 😉

Mini Baby Jellyfish

This lil guy is almost as good as the original! Since I wrote out the pattern as I went along, I can now replicate it. Made some more tweaks (as you’ll eventually see) but I dig this dude.
