Here’s what happens when you rewatch both Kuroshitsuji and Howl’s Moving Castle over the holidays…
Rant under the cut~
Shout out to the Kuroshitsuji fandom! I haven’t been active here in over ten years, but apparently once that post-gothic phantasmagoria gets under your skin, it never truly leaves.
I was catching up on the latest seasons and the feelings hit me like a freight train. Naturally, I spiraled and rewatched everything from season one and somehow forgot just how delicious the atmosphere was?!! This was the anime that first had me by the throat, the one that inspired me to draw more back then and, somehow, it’s done it again after a long break.
I could've never imagined the paths it would lead me down, like learning the language, moving to Japan, making friends, living whole lives I didn’t even know were possible. Apparently my spirit guides speak to me through fandoms because nothing gets me moving quite like a good hyperfixation...
If you made it this far, thank you for reading. I hope this piece delights you even half as much as I enjoyed making it through blood, sweat, and tears. I have so many Kuroshitsuji ideas, and I hope to slowly bring more of them to life. If nothing else, as an offering to the fandom, and to the endless well of beauty and inspiration this story continues to be.
The lingerie was a deep, royal blue meant to accent his eyes and stand out against his pale skin. Ciel was sure it would drive his demon wild. What better gift to an immortal creature who did not desire any physical belongings, than a night of unrestrained passion?
WIP Wednesday: Sebardagni Omegaverse AU -“Bonded” Snippet
So far this AU has a grand total of 2 fans including myself, but I really like the world and so I am writing it anyway. Whether I end up publishing it, I’m not sure yet.
But have a scene I wrote last night between Agni and Sebastian.
The premise is Sebastian is returning to the compound where he was raised and essentially kept prisoner until he escaped at ~20. His abusive father is dead and his half brother Ciel has invited him to visit to reconnect.
It’s a risk, especially since Sebastian is mid-pregnancy with twins, but it’s something he feels he needs to do. His mates Agni and Bard accompany him, but Ciel is MIA the day they arrive and they end up having to spend the night, but Sebastian has trouble sleeping.
Hit the break to read the scene, and if you are interested in more of this AU, let me know!
Agni snagged a robe and wrapped it around himself before slipping from the dark bedroom. Bard lay snoring in the middle of the oversized bed, large enough for at least four g adults, and Agni didn’t want to wake him.
The light in the kitchenette guided his way toward the great room, which opened via large glass sliding doors onto a veranda with a lovely view of the gardens.
Agni wasn’t surprised to find Sebastian there, the crocheted cardigan-style robe Agni had made for him slipping over his shoulders and bunching around his arms as he paced slowly, one hand rubbing circles in his lower back while the other cradled his belly.
“How bad is the pain?” Agni asked without preamble as he stepped out to join his mate. The night was cool, almost cold, and Agni was concerned that Sebastian was out here partly because his temperature was high. But one thing at a time.
Sebastian glanced over his shoulder, some of his hair slipping out of the loose bun he’d knotted it into. He looked paler than normal, and yet had a faint flush to his cheeks. He smiled when he saw his mate, though, maybe partly bc he knew Agni always saw through his bullshit. “It’s manageable, but just, if I’m being entirely honest.” His smile faltered and he allowed his mask to slip away.
Agni approached and wrapped his arms around Sebastian from behind, both embracing and supporting him, but also allowing his scent to comfort his mate. He could already feel Sebastian relax against him. “What was your temperature?”
When he was feeling better, Sebastian would snip about being nagged, but he just groaned softly. “I took some tylenol.”
Unsatisfied, Agni lifted a hand and pressed it to Sebastian’s forehead. Even with how cool the air was out here, his skin was hot to the touch, and Agni had learned through experience more or less how high his fever must be right now.
“Dr. Dalles said—”
Sebastian arched his neck to try and look up at Agni, since they were pressed together, Sebastian’s back to Agni’s chest. “—to be mindful of my temp and not let it get too high. Yes, that's why I’m out here. Hoping the night air will help.” He shivered, and Agni held him a little tighter. The fevers made Sebastian sweat and lose a lot of moisture; they also made him both uncomfortably warm and cold at the same time. He let his head fall against Agni’s, further relaxing into the taller man’s hold.
Agni marveled at how much he’d changed since they’d first met. Back then, it had been like he’d kept himself wrapped up tightly and hidden from view, and slowly, bit by bit, he’d allowed Agni to unwrap and expose the deeper and most beautiful parts of himself. Sebastian was overall a freer, happier, more assertive and independent person than he’d been back when Agni was merely his bodyguard.
“You know both Bard and I don’t need to be fathers to be happy. Just being with you is enough for us.” Sometimes he worried Sebastian was so determined to have a successful pregnancy because he felt an obligation. A duty to his mates.
He hummed in assent. “I can’t really know how much of my desire for children is me and how much is my type. Lambdas purpose is reproduction, after all.” He sighed softly. “But I think I genuinely want this. I think because it’s my choice. I’m not being forced to bear someone’s children solely so they can have an alpha heir. Bard doesn’t care about the baby’s type, and I know you don’t either. I hope my children aren’t lambda so they can live normal lives, but I know that they’ll be loved and cherished in a way I never was regardless. I want to give to my children everything I never had. Including parents who love them.”
He let out a soft moan and leaned into Agni more.
“Let’s sit for a bit. Your hips must ache.” Agni guided Sebastian to one of the outdoor sofas, taking a seat and inviting him to sit between his legs so they could sit similarly to how they’d been standing, with as much body contact as they could have.
Sebastian settled gratefully into Agni’s hold, trembling subtly, whether from pain or cold. Agni couldn’t be sure. But he wouldn’t let them stay out here too much longer. “I’ve been thinking about it a lot. Since I . . . since last time.” Sebastian still had trouble talking about how devastating a loss his last miscarriage had been for him. It had depressed him so much he had considered having a hysterectomy at one point, because he hadn’t been certain he could handle another pregnancy and yet another loss. “And since I decided to come see Ciel.” He took a deep breath and let it out slowly. “I want a family. A real family. Something I never had.”
Agni kissed the top of Sebastain’s head. “I’d like that too.” Agni had been dumped at an orphanage for beta children when he was too young to remember anything but the grey crumbling walls of that place. He honestly had never imagined he’d lived to adulthood, let alone be mated to two other men and on the cusp of parenthood.
“I love you.”
“I love you too.”
