1. Mermaids trying to speak âhumanâ but itâs actually just a jumbled mess of different languages and creative curse words because they learn most of their language from sailorsÂ
ALTERNATIVELY mermaids using 90s surfer lingo(or you know, just southern californian words lmao) like âdudeâ âradicalâ âTotally tubularâ âSweetâ âWickedâ âTotesâ
2. Mermaids that maintain certain aspects of their species even on land: Like sharp teeth, luminescence, camouflage. Or behaviors like not being able to stop moving, or not being able to handle climates outside their natural habitats(like how some tropical fish/sharks fall asleep in colder waters and stop moving).
3. I think a lot about mermaids that are based on other aquatic animals, rather than just fish. Like Shark-based mermaids that use electric magnetic fields to sense their surroundings. Octo-Mermaids that are extremely flexible and intelligent.
4. Mermaids that canât actually hear correctly on land because there hearing is adapted to underwater, so to them everything on land just sounds water-logged.
5. Same thing for sight. Mermaids whose vision is actually very off because theyâre sight is meant for underwater, and probably designed to track pray or predators.
6. I think a lot about the âhumanâ part of their skin, cause it still must be adapted to not prune or degrade after being submerged for so long. So I wonder what theyâd be like outside of the water. Are they just constantly slightly damp? Or do they have an odd sort of rubbery skin? Thatâd probably make it really hard to grip things out of the water. And technology with probably be hell.
7. I imagine that modern transportation would feel really weird to them. Have you even been in a boat for a while and then got in a car? Itâs a weird feeling. I imagine itâd be like that.
8. I bet eating food would be so weird. I mean theyâre most likely used to eating raw fish and like seaweed or something right? So the idea of cooked food? Would probably blow a mermaids mind you know. Take a mermaid to an all you could eat buffet. See what happens.
9. So underwater, Mermaids have probably experienced like Tsunamis and thunder storms and stuff. But Imagine a Mermaid on land feeling an earthquake or seeing a Tornado. Imagine how terrifying thatâd be.
10. I think too often about Mermaids interacting with land animals. Dogs. Cats. Anything soft and fluffy. Honestly. Like I want to take a mermaid to a fabric store and just let them touch everything soft. Let them experience new textures.

And the supervillain in front of them was the most terrifying of all. âOf course,â the villain agreed, trying and failing to kick the nervous edge from their painted-on smile. âSo youâre on the arousal side of that thin line. Even more flattering.â
This time, the supervillain didnât laugh. Instead, her smile curled sharper than a scythe. âDo you think youâre funny?â
That...sounded like a dangerous question. A very dangerous question. The villain squirmed, praying for a soft spot, some weakness in the supervillainâs stance. They found more give in the brick wall at their back. âAh, yes, actually. Hilarious. Funniest cape in the city.â
âHmm.â The supervillainâs grip on their jaw loosened, and her gloved hand slid up to cup the villainâs cheek. She patted twice, condescendingly. âFunnier than [hero], at least.â
They mocked a gasp. âNow now, thatâs hardly a compliment. Borderline insulting, in fact.â
âAs insulting as the way you keep trying to twist my words into something comedic?â Her fingers trailed downward, tracing over their jawline until her hand settled, threatening, against the arch of their throat. âAs the way youâre trying to turn them back on me? I donât think so.â
The villain swallowed. God, they could feel the lump in their throat pressing against her palm. That shouldnât be so scary. It shouldnât be so hot, either. âAha, uh- sorry? I thought you liked wordplay.â
âOh, I do. But I donât like having my wordplay stolen and used against me. Thatâs stealing as well as cheating.â
âI am a villain,â they rasped in reply. âStealing and cheating do belong in my repertoire.â
âPerhaps,â she agreed, lipstick smile whet by amusement. Makeup that sharp should be classed as a lethal weapon. âBut I am a supervillain. Are you sure you want to try stealing from me?â
Fuck, maybe they did. Maybe they wanted those masked eyes to narrow, that gloved hand to tighten around their throat. Adrenaline thrilled through their veins like a forest fire.Â
But they couldnât say thatâit was fucking weird. She would think they were a freak, right? The original thin line comment had surely been meant as a cutting insight, a devastating put down. That was why she disliked having it turned back on her, even as an entirely transparent joke.Â
They were still chewing over their response when her hand started moving. The villainâs breath caught as they froze in place, shoulderblades scraping brick, chest aching as the muscles held deathly still. Her fingertips trailed down the column of their throat, drifted sideways to trickle down their arm, then slotted firmly over their hipbone with enough strength to knock them back against the wall. They gasped.Â
It was a breathy little noise, virginal and pretty and entirely unsuited to a villain of their stature. They flushed scarlet. âH-hey, whereâs that hand going?â
âWherever you want it to go,â she purred. Satisfaction rolled off her like the fogbank of her powers, so thick and sweet that they could almost taste it. Her thin smile failed to disperse either her intensity or their undeniable attraction to it. âIâm joking. It will stay right here. We are in public after all.â
Public. Right. Yeah. They had to pull themself together before some asshole journalist showed up with a camera and devastated their reputation on the 6am morning news. Which they would. Just as soon as the supervillain leaned back a few inches, and removed her hand, and preferably stopped watching them like a predator studying prey. âOf course,â they managed. âWe wouldnât want to add public indecency to our rap sheets. Far too low brow.â
âInteresting. Most people would have been concerned by the threat of a knife to the kidneys, but you-â She leant in closer, eyes glittering, hot breath ghosting over their jaw. âYou went straight to sex. And weâre back at that blurred line again.â
Oh, come on, that wasnât fair. She had clearly been- and her hand- and she was so goddamn close- it constituted clear insinuation. Provocation, in fact. They opened their mouth to state as such, but not a single word fell out. They tried to swallow, but their throat was dry enough to catch every word and half their breaths besides. Oh shit, were they going to faint? Lightheaded, unstable on their feet, breathless, blood rushing south: all the symptoms of a toxic cocktail of fear and attraction. Or...poison. Ah.
âI think,â they said slowly, âthat I should ask after your intentions.â
âWhy? You like the ambiguity.â
They did like it. Rather too much, actually, but she really didnât need to know that. Or, more realistically, she didnât need it confirming. âWell,â they said, âif you intend to kill me, Iâd quite like to fight back.â
âAnd if I intend to kiss you?â
Their mind went white. They blinked six times just to check they could still see, that it wasnât her powers over mist and fog and vapour turning the world blank. But no, they could still see her, every black-clad inch of her silhouetted by the streetlamps at her back. The shadowed curl of her hair cascading down from her ponytail, the sleek muscles in her shoulders, the sharp outline of her cat-eyed mask. Stunning, absolutely stunning, breathtaking beyond measure. And she wanted to kiss them?
âI, ah, I mean, if youâd like, but, uh, of course I donât expect- I mean I would never- aha, what I mean to say is, obviously-â
She sighed. âIf I kiss you, will it shut you up?â

The fact that not only did dream make a song/music video about how not taking your meds is good and will make you happier (terrible message for anyone let alone a young fan base), but also forced an animation team that basically only had experience animating Minecraft to animate something completely different from their usual style in a few weeks with NO pay and there are still people who think heâs not a complete asshole is astounding to me

as a general disclaimer iâd like to say that i donât care if people dislike/hate dream and express that on their social media. i think there are plenty of valid criticisms of dream, especially in the way he responds to drama and handles his fanbase. but iâm not here to convince you to like or even tolerate him, iâm here to set the record straight.
iâm going to try and address all the points you brought up with the exception of the supposed message of the mv being ânot taking your meds is good and will make you happierâ. thatâs subjective and not really my place to speak on, so iâll just be focusing on the stuff that i have the evidence to debunk.
1) forcing them to animate in a different style than they were used to
in march, dream tweeted out asking for animators for an amv.
he specified the style he wanted the animation to be in and gave a general timeframe from the get-go. according to the lead, phyre herself, the animation style was her idea and one of the people in the second screenshot you posted wasnât very involved with the project.
2) they only had a few weeks to do it
i wonât deny it was rushed, but they had more than âa few weeksâ and it was mostly a miscommunication error from the start
3) waiting so long to be paid
according to phyre, it took time for her to finalize the budget and it was sent to him early this morning.
4) underpaying
iâll be honest, i wasnât sure how to approach the last screenshot at first bc itâs always tricky dealing with âmy friend saidâ testimonies, especially when i canât follow up with that person. i prefer to assume good faith though, and iâm sure the person who sent you that ask was just looking out for their friend.
in any case, i went and dmâd phyre and sent her that screenshot to fact-check it, and got a reply a couple hours later.
even though she didnât specify how much they got paid, iâll assume phyre wasnât lying to me about it. so they were paid well, she never said the â4 monthsâ thing, and she wasnât taken advantage of.
i think thatâs everything. thank you for your time if you read all the way to the end. i donât expect anyone to change their opinion about dream after this, but i at least wanted to clear up some of the misinformation floating around.
to further add to the response to opâs post that is a compilation of false information, shared through nuanced glasses without proper receipts (or receipts that were taken out of context), here is dreamâs response with his own screenshots:

dream paid 3x times the budget that phyre had sent to him. the only reason why the payment was delayed was because phyre, themselves & their team were discussing what would be a fair budget, dream paid them 4 hours after they sent him the final budget.
2) the deadline/time frame for them to finish the mv:
dream mentioned that he originally pushed them to be speedy with it with a short time frame, but after that time frame was missed, he accepted to let them take as much as they needed and just keep him updated on the progress.

Hey guys, you probably heard about the situation of queer folks in Poland. The ruling party has made homo- and transphobia into a new national virtue. Around 1/3 of local authorities adopted resolutions about fighting âgender ideologyâ. Gender transition in Poland is a very complicated and expensive process. All of this puts young queer people in a vulnerable situation, resulting in appalling rates of mental illness affecting them. On top of that, childrenâs psychiatric wards are overcrowded and one region doesnât have such ward at all. (Itâs Podlasie with a population of 1,8 million people.)
The poster above was made by the illustrator Szarosen. It reads â[Please] love me, mom and dadâ. Itâs a response to posters with the slogan âLove each other, mom and dadâ which appeared across many towns in Poland. The organization responsible for those is known to be anti-divorce and has fundamentalist ties, advocating for married couples staying together despite home abuse. Szarosenâs drawing points to the lack of support, discrimination and even violence which many queer kids have to face, sometimes from their own families.
