we’ve been listening to “everywhere at the end of time” and “sadly the future is not what it was” and reevaluating our work for the last few months. there’s been a lot of focus on memory, grief, and trauma present in our collage work and we were really feeling painting today. this feels like the start of some serious work, the likes of which we haven’t done in awhile.

We had friends once who made really cool lighter art. A personalized lighter was one of the most thoughtful gifts we’d ever gotten and we were so happy.

This is by no means an original idea but most of our decorated lighters are dying and plain lighters are boring. And it means we’re making some thing again and that’s always nice.

So what I did was google my name, and then each of the letters in my name and i gathered images for each letter letting the first page of google be like....my magazine that I flipped through.

I used rough cuts with the lasso tool to mimick scissors and it ended up being Sailor Mars fanart, which makes it a pretty solid identity piece, which is exactly what I set out to make!
