Hi, so! If you've been following me on Tumblr for the past few weeks, you'd see how I've been talking about disordered eating + this story about emotionally incestuous relationships, and really just digging into some deep issues. Here is the culmination of that, a short story I've titled Ingrid is Hungry. I wrote this as a commission for @necrokris, and they were kind enough to allow me to share this with you all! Ingrid is Hungry is about Ingrid, a young woman writing emails to her mother with whom she has a very strained relationship. Themes+ inspirations include: familial cannibalism, Jenette McCurdy's memoir I'm Glad My Mom Died, Sharp Objects, Kendall Roy's relationship with his father + with food, and an upsetting amount of first/second-hand experience with disordered eating and horrible mother-daughter relationships. I would say tread lightly if you think you might be extra sensitive to these topics, because I did not hold back.

DM seeking players for a one shot

DM seeking 2-5 players for a couple of session one-shot / short campaign. Everyone welcome (including new players!) so long as you have a way to use roll 20, microphone capabilities and can work with a European time zone.

The medium: 5th edition, homebrew setting, voice and video or voice only on Roll 20.

The pitch: Faymire is the only real town for miles around. Ancient forest surrounds this walled city and the isolation has made it just a little crazy. Everyone and everything living round here is strange or dangerous (or both) so whether you're new to town or a long standing resident, you're bound to get wrapped up in something unusual - be it local politics or strange goings on in the woods. (No specific content warnings but we'll do some sort of consent checklist before we play.)

The DM: I'm easy going, up for antics as well as serious story-focused moments and I'm in favour basically total player freedom. I'm a bad actor but love roleplay so prepare for some very inconsistent voices. I'm not all that practiced at combat so although I enjoy it, if you're used to highly tactical play I might be lacking.

The players: 16+, any experience level, up for roleplay, friendly and fun, available either afternoon or evening GMT (exact time/day to be decided between the party once we've got one).

The specs for nerds: DM approved homebrew welcome, starting at 1st or 3rd depending on if we have any new players, RAI/my word is final, sandbox-y as I can make a one-shot, everything else agreed in a session 0.

Ryan hates to admit it, but the room does look beautiful in the dark. Even with the half dozen mirrors lining the walls, each movement they make reflected back at the corners of his eyes like shadows. 

“This is, quite a room.” Shane’s craning his neck back to peer at the intricate oil paintings nestled high into the gloom of the arched ceiling, the pale moonlight through the windows tracing across the lines of his face. 

It’s still a surprise that they were allowed to wander through such a luxuriously decorated place alone, Ryan thinks, a smile tugging at his mouth at the scene. They must have done something right with the show. 

He fiddles with his phone and starts the nice little waltz he had picked out, the rhythmic melody flowing out from the speaker on the floor. 

Shane glances back and hums, “That’s some nice normal music for a change.”

“Oh we’re still using this big guy, there’s no getting out of it.” Ryan wiggles the spirit box in his hand and Shane groans, “Come on man, it’s not that bad.“ 

"Objection your honor, it absolutely fucking is.”
