I don’t think you understand what “Freedom of Speech” actually means.

It is the basic human right that allows the average citizen the power to criticize the government without fear of arrest  (unlike in North Korea, for example, where people can still be executed for negative political statements).  Freedom of Speech is what allowed the Civil Rights movement to happen.  Freedom of Speech is what allowed the LGBT+ community to fight for equality. 

Freedom of Speech has always been about having a voice.  It has been used many times to secure new rights that hadn’t existed before.  Freedom of Speech is the literal opposite of persecution: It is the common citizen’s tool for change.

Nonetheless, Freedom of Speech isn’t about your hurt feelings.  Feelings are exactly why we have laws.  Feelings are YOUR OWN, PERSONAL PROBLEM.  Feelings aren’t a violation of human liberty.  As an adult, you’re supposed to be mature enough to work through that on your own.  Neither government officials, nor your fellow citizens, are obligated to babysit you because you heard words that you didn’t like.  It is not the world’s job to tailor itself to your specifications.  It is YOUR job to learn how to co-exist with people from all walks of life that may think, feel, and look differently from you.  It is YOUR job to learn how to overcome adversity, and how to be tolerant and respectful of those who dont share your exact outlook on life–from who you love, to who you worship.  The government shouldn’t have to teach you how to be a decent human being by silencing ALL of us.

Either EVERYONE has freedom, or NO ONE does.  Congratulations on literally supporting fascism.

First of all, the Catholic Church is always going to oppose anything that involves human beings used as objects for pure physical pleasure. And that’s literally all porn is: using strangers to get off. And that leads to a second problem- it devalues sex. If you watch people have sex on the Internet as a hobby, you can’t possibly treat sex as what it is for a Catholic- a reflection of God. Beyond that, it’s highly addictive. Beyond that, it is literally the same as prostitution, except that it’s possibly even more selfish (at least when you buy a prostitute, you put yourself at risk for gratification). Beyond that, it’s an industry that abuses its employees horribly. Doing porn does horrid things to the “actor’s” bodies. And it leads to depression, suicide, drug addiction… Because those people are no longer human- they’ve been cheapened to the point of being breathing sex toys. Beyond that, as a woman in a relationship, it would bother me deeply if my boyfriend was looking at other women naked to get off. The only difference between porn and cheating is that porn is socially acceptable.
