happy finals week from a stressed gal who is dreaming of summer adventures ~
i just made a detailed study schedule for my theory exam next Monday because there is a lot of material and i refuse to leave it until the weekend before like i usually do lol. i had my first theory final this morning, but still have theory dictation tomorrow, secondary piano on Wednesday, a nutrition exam and art history presentation on Thursday, and then my last theory keyboard exam, another small test, and a 10 page paper due at the beginning of next week oof. but hey! it’s starting to warm up so i got to sit outside and plan my week this morning, which is one of my favorite things to do tbh.
it’s jury season :-)

a pic from my last orchestra concert of the year ~
only about 3 weeks left at this school. sometimes i get really overwhelmed by the sheer amount of work i have to get done, so i find that setting just a few specific goals for the week helps me feel a little more grounded. some goals for this coming week are to keep up with a morning routine (shower, eat breakfast, listen to music or a podcast), eat less sugar (maybe once at the end of the week as a reward), start research for my final paper for art history, and finally make practicing oboe more of a priority every day.
i hope everybody has a fulfilling and productive week :)

I love her. Forever reblog.
I have the utmost respect for this woman.
please reblog. reblog the way you would reblog a picture of a hot singer, a pretty girl, a tasty meal or some nice stationary. Because this will not make your blog ‘less aesthetic’ or anything. This is important, far more important than anything I’ve mentioned before.

in summary, these last two weeks have been pretty rocky. i struggled a lot and missed some classes and assignments but we made it through. i woke up this morning in a much better mood so here’s hoping this week is better. the trick is just getting myself out of my room. it’s easier said than done at this point.
halfway through the day and i’ve already finished most of the general studying on my to do list - practiced piano this morning, studied for my upcoming nutrition exam, and am just about to start reading an article for art history. i have a short rehearsal tonight at 6 so i’m going to try to get a little bit of practice and reed making in before then as well. hopefully i can have the evening to relax. only about 3 weeks until finals and 4 weeks until juries!
hope you have a nice week :)
5/100 days of productivity ♡
taking notes in ear training is tough to do quickly!!
i’ve been having trouble falling asleep before 6 am so yesterday i only slept two hours and allowed myself a short nap before a day full of classes, meetings, a group project, and working out. still had to lie in bed until 4 am before i could zzz ;n;

snuck outside for a minute at work tonight to soak up this view!
I got my official acceptance letter from the university music school tonight which makes this whole change feel slightly more official and exciting! still waiting on acceptance to the university itself but that should come by the end of this month. really looking forward to what is in store for me there.
this week has been okay, definitely some low moments but some good ones as well. the beginning of this week was rough, transitioning back into school after spring break really hit me hard especially since I am not too keen on being at this conservatory anymore. but, even though it took until thursday morning to feel normal, we pushed through. i managed to have a steady morning routine over the entire week (!!) even on my bad days. if you don’t have experience with depression this may not sound like an achievement, but you’d best believe I’m going to celebrate showering, eating breakfast, and even getting up with my 7:30am alarm every single day this week! I’m hoping that by moving home and improving my environment I will have more weeks like this.
in the meantime, here’s to the end of the week, a nice weekend, and a productive rest of the school year.

I have no memory of learning this piece before, but my fingers seem to know it pretty well! I’m pretty pleased with my day 2 reed as well - mine usually don’t sound so polished until about day 4.
(What did I say about the Lebrun d minor being the most Mozartean non-Mozart concerto? I may have changed my mind.)

goodbye weekend, see you after midterms :’-)
I just wanted to say good luck with transferring schools. I had to do that after my first semester as a voice performance major and it was one of the hardest decisions I had to make but it has paid off so much. I hope everything goes over smoothly for you.
thank you so much! i’m feeling very good about my decision - it has been a very difficult few weeks but i just know that it is going to be so good for me :)
february 25, 2018 - life update
I’ve submitted a transfer application to a state university to study music education and art history, talked to my oboe teacher about my situation and received a very kind and supportive response from him, and I’ve scheduled meetings with the university’s music ed department and the oboe teacher while I’m in town for spring break. things are starting to look up and I’m feeling good about my decision. just have to finish this year strong.
