Having gone through the story of Endfield, I confess I'm a bit mystified by some of the one-line criticisms of the plot; more often than not, they just don't bear much resemblance to the game itself. Capitalism and colonialism have yet to actually be depicted, let alone endorsed.
If Arknights is a criticism of present nation-states, Endfield is an attempt to envision steps towards a post-national future. Clumsy at times, and almost painfully sincere when it comes to Wuling and the Qingbo Stockade. You'll hand out access to an automated factory to any refugee or scientist or bandit who asks nicely.
That said, it is a bit funny that everyone seems to be missing that your first major allied faction is an alliance of worker's councils. You know. A union of soviets.

its amazing how utterly fucking awful the sankta actually are at communication because the law was basically handholding them the entire time and relied on the empathy superpower equivalent of basic cue cards or like internet tone indicators to vaguely parse out what other people are saying and the actual horror of this comes in the form of how vannini can suddenly speak in the dream world because the law deemed the 'language' she shared with paganini completely worthless
to the other sankta, vannini was mostly regarded as defective, she doesn't have her halo yet so she might as well not exist, and yet for all of his complaining paganini managed to communicate with her. paganini only considered that something might be wrong with her solely because it's what all the other sankta told him, but functionally she's just a mute child. where all the other sankta gave up though, paganini bridged the gap with her through bullet casings with engravings on them. I think of importance to note is that paganini said that he found himself becoming quieter with her, that the silence she has was also spreading to him but he doesn't hate it, if anything he decided to come up with a way to talk to her that wasn't so reliant on talking because she couldnt. they communicated more effectively with warm silence and bullet casings instead of a literal hivemind network. it became their way of communicating, their personal language for their little family.
paganini literally created language through an art and connected with vannini far more than the laws halo system ever could, and the law made her throw it in the trash because surely it can't be better than what it created.
THANK YOU GARMOND AND ZAZA FOR MVPING MOORWING FOR ME

beginning and ending
Rose salt is my beautiful little princess and she can do no wrong and I will give her everything she's ever wanted and lavish her with gifts and dote on her endlessly.
Is it weird that this is the scene that made me cry instead of the extremely depressing ending to the tragic backstory?
It just gets me so hard man. This is what the entire manga has been building up to with its two main characters. All secrets have finally been shared on both sides. Vermilio finally completely accepts Helck as a comrade. Telling him to fight to live, promising him a future, assuring him that the demons will accept him and become his new home. The way it makes him cry, this big sad man who has struggled his entire life and has been so alone, she told him he's not alone anymore and promised him a new home and he cried and she accepted the sword from him and and
“I have many stories I want to tell you!”
