PSA: Please Don’t Kick Automatic Door Buttons
I use a wheelchair.
Since COVID started, I’ve seen people kick automatic door buttons to avoid using their hands. This is horrible for me, since these are high touch areas I cannot avoid.
People who can walk can elbow those buttons, but they are often too high for me (a seated person) to do that - meaning that sometimes I have no choice but to use my hands. And if the bottom of your feet has touched that button, that is negating any efforts I’m making to keep my hands clean.
Since I basically have to use my hands for everything, and many wheelchair users are in the COVID “high risk” category, this is really bad.
I would really appreciate if people used their elbows, or literally any other part of their body to press the button. Just not your feet.
Thanks.

i wonder if i will still use tumblr in 5 years
The (un)funny thing about this (seven year old) post is that seven years ago the internet was such that one could reasonably imagine that in 5 years there would be other, better platforms that would make tumblr sort of outdated and cringy. Now the alternatives to tumblr are Corporations Spying On You, Absolute Hellhole Of Discourse Over Tumblr Screenshots, Corporations Spying On You, Tumblr Posts But In Video Form While Corporations And The Chinese Government Spy On You, That Platform You Signed On After The Titty Ban Spread Mass Panic And You Never Used Since, and reddit

‘tomboy’ literally was just parent code for ‘awwww this child is gay, now lets never address it and hope it goes away before it stops being cute’ like if you were a tomboy child im sorry
As much as I do love the ‘SpaceX is just burning money for no reason, Elon Musk is personally designing these rockets badly, the whole company is a joke, Elon’s going to blow up on his way to Mars’ banter, I think it’s important to reckon with the actual reality of SpaceX as a military contractor.
Their ‘Starship’ is not, and never was designed to fly to Mars - that’s a marketing scheme, and it makes no sense if you actually look at the vehicle. SpaceX is able to throw money at this project because they’ve got a military contract to produce it as a military cargo drone. Their ‘Starship’ is designed to deliver a C-130′s load of US military cargo to anywhere in the world within an hour.
SpaceX, from before its first ever launch, has been partnered with the US military - as noted in the incident where the company stranded its workers without food on an island owned by the US Army. SpaceX’s constant failures with their rocket come from a simple calculation - cost versus time. To slowly and methodically design a rocket such that, by your first test flight, you’re confident in it, is just that: slow. Blowing up rocket after rocket and iterating is fast, but expensive - but when you have military contractor money, it’s worth it.
This is far from SpaceX’s only time contracting for the military, having launched military payloads with their Falcon rockets, and even designed satellites for the military. There’s a reason only USAmerican citizens are allowed to work at SpaceX.
The image of SpaceX as an eccentric billionaire’s quest to colonise Mars serves as a marketing ploy which distracts from the company’s real existence as part of the US military industrial complex, beholden not to the Reddit-fueled whims of an egocentric moron, but to the massive economic and structural forces of modern capitalism.

okay so are the beekeepers who wear protective gear just weak or are these bees tame or is there some wild bee magic I'm unaware of
This beekeeper actually covers that in her other videos(the ones on YouTube anyway) she says it all depends on what you're comfortable with, but most bees likely won't sting because the smoke interrupts their alarm pheromones and keeps them calm and relaxed, so as long as you stay calm and relaxed as well they will kinda just ignore you in favor of staying wherever their queen is. Some beekeepers just trust that they won't get stung and don't bother with the gear, especially very experienced ones, but some would rather not risk it and thus wear protective gear. She also does wear it occasionally in some of her videos, but she also points out that she's based in Texas and the gear can be hot and bulky and uncomfortable. So its a judgement based on comfort, confidence, and the removal situation itself.
How many vampires do you think have been hit by a car backing up in a parking lot because the driver couldn't see their reflection
I’ve never considered it but you’re really shining light on what’s probably a very serious issue
