New 1 minute video comedy sketch thingy.
New YouTube video!
For some reason were scared of looking into the abyss of the ocean when its only a few miles deep, but we’re completly fine looking into the nearly infite abyss of space. In fact, most of us find is calming.
Gravity doesn’t drag me upwards into the unforgiving maw of the cosmos.
Not yet.
New video alert.
Houseparty getting us through self-isolation.
Going through my old hard drive and found one if the last photos of my last band in its final line up. Check it.
Weirdly, the old line up got back together a couple of years after this for a one of jam and here’s a video of it.
Also here’s the EP we recorded.
Strange and scary times. I’m doing updates on my Medium page here.
But here’s a message my mate just sent me.
New video. Watch here.
WRITING
________________
After writing on Medium for years I’ve only just realised I haven’t been monitising my work. Idiot!
I’ve had a few articles go “viral” recently. If you want to read any of the latest posts, here they are below.
I Bought a Year of Tony Robbins Performance Coaching and Here’s What It’s Like
The Truth About Becoming Middle Aged
What It’s Like to Get Divorced
Mass Shootings, Male Shame and the Myth of Toxic Masculinity
Did a gig this week which I’ve done several times before but it’s in a new venue. Or ally echoey rooms don’t work well for comedy but it was a good night and I’m happy with the material I’ve got right now. I always say that and then if a bad gig crops up, it plunged everything into doubt.
Some friends and I went swimming in Hampstead swimming ponds in London this weekend.
It was 8c and the water was 6c (42f). Being the 1st March meant it’s still very much winter.
Hers a video of me getting in. I cold shower every day but this was another level of cold. Definately the coldest water I’ve ever been in.
Still, I loved the challenge. Doing tough things in a group is always amazingly bonding.
We did some jump too but everyone got pretty darn cold pretty darn quickly so we retired to the changing rooms fairly quickly.
Luckily the winter sun came out which really helped with the drying off. It did feel amazing once the stinging pain subsided.
I would recommend!
Playing with the D O G
After a run of shit gigs where I bombed hard, I did one last night that was ok. I would dare say good. The sound of people laughing washed over me like warm waves of calm, summer ocean. Or something.
Some of the material I was convinced was good went down well. Finally. The gog I did a couple of days go seemed to be completely confused about the metaphor / premise I was using. Still, I listened back to that gig and I was a mess.
Lesson learned over these last few bad gigs is that I have to be much more definate. Learn jokes as sentences. No ums, ers. Need some confidence. Or at least an illusion of it.
Something to work on. I was genuinely thinking of taking a long comedy hiatus of last night went badly but, as of right now, I’m still in the stand up game.
I’m telling you though, it’s tough. Tough as fuck.
Perhaps I need to get funnier? No, no that can’t be the case. It must be the audiences.
Vlog alert. View it here.
