The way tumblr fandoms treat gay men (shippers for example) treat gay men how they fetishize and tokenize gay/bi men makes me so uncomfortable. Straight girls do the same thing straight dudes do to lesbians and bi women. It's equally disgusting.

little straight ally things: fetishizing the LGBT community <3
I threw up.
my fav straight person thing is when they threaten to be homophobic if we dont respect them as allies Â
MOGAI peeps protecting MOGAI peeps 2k15
(I would have added more but I ran out of puns)
Instead of saying âtrans or nonbinary,â consider saying âtrans and/or nonbinary.â If youâd prefer to not use neologistic conjunctions, consider saying âtrans, nonbinary, or both.â
Being trans and being nonbinary are not mutually exclusive.
Feminists: equality for all!!!!!
Feminists: all gay men are all evil sexist pigs who compete with women for the penis. And OMG they are such sluts who don't know what it is like to be opressed. CHECK YOUR PRIVILEGE GAY BOYZ!!!! They don't expierence homophobia in the US anymore, so stop complaining about how bad you want to be accepted TRY BEING A WOMAN!!! I also can use homophobic slurs all I want cuz I mean it in a femimist way!!!! If a gay men does drag BURN HIM ALIVE!!! At all cost stay away from the gays. I used to treat them like props but now I see their demon ways. Aside from pulling stereotypes and bullshit out of my ass I like to push opressed groups against each other!!!! I totally won this opression olympics!!!
Today on Martin Luther King, Jr Day, we remember the powerful and driven work of Dr. King and all of those who worked with him. We also take pause and remember Bayard Rustin, who fought for racial and queer equality.

Bayard Rustin - Dr. Martin Luther King Jrâs strategist and adviser. Rustin ran and organized the largest non-violent protest in the United States of America.
Rustin was also openly gay.Â

Brother Outsider: The Life of Bayard Rustin
During his 60-year career as an activist, organizer and âtroublemaker,â Bayard Rustin formulated many of the strategies that propelled the American civil rights movement. His passionate belief in Gandhiâs philosophy of nonviolence drew Martin Luther King Jr. and other leaders to him in the 1940âs and 50âs; his practice of those beliefs drew the attention of the FBI and police. In 1963, Rustin brought his unique skills to the crowning glory of his civil rights career: his work organizing the March on Washington, the biggest protest America had ever seen. But his open homosexuality forced him to remain in the background, marking him again and again as a âbrother outsider.â Brother Outsider: The Life of Bayard Rustin combines rare archival footage â some of it never before broadcast in the U.S. â with provocative interviews to illuminate the life and work of a forgotten prophet of social change.

It really upsets me when girls hold up signs like âlet my gays get marriedâ (including a picture of their âshipâ on the sign) and things like that at lgbt+ pride events. First off gay people do not belong to you weirdos, and marriage equality and other lgbt+ issues effects REAL people. We have...
I canât take part in slash shipping. There is so much abuse, rape, pedophilla, heteronormative gender roles, and even some misogyny where girls are killing off female characters to make their âshipâ work. 99% of fandoms are just (mostly) straight girls who fetishize homosexuality.

Why do straights think that by existing we are shoving our sexuality in their faces?
We have to come out as gay/bi because otherwise we are assumed to be straight.
It isnât fair if a character isnât straight or isnât cisgender apparently we are shoving our...
I used to be a fan of Ariana Grande until I realized how much she fetishizes gay men. Not only does she use them as accessories, she said she likes men kissing men. Just the same as men that get turned on by bi women/lesbians. It's uncomfortable how many girls treat gay/bi men like this. Since she's famous she's encouraging it. I'm not even the only one that posted something about this. Fetishizing people is just gross.
Girls can be just as fetishizing to gay men as much as boys are fetishizing to lesbians. Yes is more known to people that men like lesbian porn and like watching girls kiss and have sex with other girls because they're more open about it. But there are girls that watch gay porn, write and read gay porn stories (fanfiction/yaoi/slash) and all of that just like boys to to lesbians. Just because it isn't that known doesn't mean it isn't as damaging and it's still horrible. I know of girls that take pictures of gay men in public without their permission, who whenever they see a gay couple they say "what a cute gay couple" it's like we aren't human to you. Or say "I want a gay bestie to do make up with, and talk about cute boys!" And other stereotypical things. I even had girls that were my friends ask me to kiss my partner in front of them because they think it's hot. So it does happen. It's like we are just part of so fetish you have. ****Remember: Fetishizing is wrong in general no matter what. It's dehumanizing, offensive, objectifying and disgusting. That's what this post is about. That fetishizing is horrible wether it's to a race, sexual orientation, gender, whatever it is all just sick.**** I felt the need to post about again in more detail for people who had questions. (And not all girls fetishize gay men and not all boys fetishize lesbians I'm just talking about the ones that do)
Gay Men get fetishized a lot by women and lesbians get fetishized a lot by straight men. It all is damaging and it needs to stop. It's like we aren't people we are just your little sexual fantasies.
A lot of straight people fetishize gay and lesbian pairings not because they want to advocate for us or anything, but because they want to get turned on. They have a fetish for watching two âhotâ men or two âhotâ women have sex and itâs very objectifying, fetishistic, itâs like you donât care for us at all we are just your sexual fantasy. I saw a sign a girl was holding and it said âlet my gays get marriedâ and it had some characters from a show she ships. I donât think you realize that marriage equality and our fight for full equality isnât a joke and isnât a game. We the LGBT+ are actual people and these are real issues. This affects actual people and couples not your little ship.
I am gay and I honestly canât stand girls who ship men together. Yeah itâs cool if youâre just like âtheyâre a cute coupleâ and just move on. But these girls get so obsessive it doesnât matter if itâs fictional characters (animated or live action) or real (celebs, bands, actors, non famous people)...
So true! I love this! Don't stereotype
