the longer explanation:

Tumblr has changed reblogs to mirror that of twitter/x. Reblogs with commentary in the post (words/pics/etc) now work as "quoted posts" with an independent set of notes displayed for likes/reblogs/comments on the quoted post. This is effective immediately and is NOT retroactive.

While this is objectively good for opinion or discourse posts where the user rebloging is adding independent thought or opinion—it is bad for creators as it is not a true reflection of the reach of our posts. New and smaller creators suffer the most. If someone with a bigger reach reblogs a small/new creator and leaves content/comments in the post of the reblog, further interactions with that reblog will be attributed to the reblog and not the original work. Meaning the artist is missing out on lots of feedback, praise, likes and motivational words that encourage them to continue or interact with the community.

This is bigger than caring about the amount of notes a post gets, even if it only gets 10 interactions, that creator should be able to see it and be attributed that.

how should I interact moving forward?

To be safe, please ONLY interact with the main post and ONLY put comments in TAGS if reblogging.

Scammers are gaining access to legit/established accounts and messaging their followers/people they've previously dm'd to steal money/access to their accounts. This is important because one of the accounts they STOLE @/yetacomis does legit commissions! We've shared email/payment info and she's done this commission for me.

They will contact you telling you that they've reported you and that they've got their friends to report you too in order to scare you. They may even mention they mistook you for another user or provide a fake case number.

How can you protect yourself?

1. Tumblr will NEVER ask you to contact them via discord for account disputes. If you are banned/suspended/in violation of a rule an automated email will come from a tumblr dot com email address. Any communication with a human is user initiated and comes from their zendesk ticketing system.

2. Turn on 2FA (2-Factor Authentication). This way if you are scammed they will not immediately gain access. Tumblr will NEVER ask for your 2FA code. NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR 2FA CODE!!!

Ironically enough I received this message literally 10 minutes before I saw a dm from my moot @ramonathinks telling me she got something similar from a different account @/carlkojee. Here is what she received:

So far we know the two accounts compromised are @/yetacomis and @/carlkojee. Please comment below any additional compromised accounts and I will add them here. I am reporting them to tumblr as well as the discord user names to discord. But please stay vigilant as these aren't just random accounts. Again report any accounts who reach out to you immediately, do not click any links from them nor give them ANY of your account information. sorry for clogging famdom tags but i would like this to reach as many people as possible to prevent anymore stolen accounts, especially if they scam more legit accounts that may actually have the credibility to fool some people.

How to see mature content!!

Hello everyone, given what has been happening to me ( @kamitv ) and my fellow writers ( @tonycries & @madamechrissy ) on here lately, I've decided to come on here (my unflagged account, lol) and make a simple tutorial on how to see mature content on your account/dashboard, wtv.

If you are receiving the following message when looking for your favorite writer's blog, works, etc;

The following is what you'll need to do to fix that.

First you need to go to tumblr's website, I'm unsure why but the option simply does not appear anywhere on the app and you must go through the web for this. (This tutorial is given from the perspective of visiting tumblr.com via mobile device) From there on it's pretty simple.

Once here, you'll need to click on the little hamburger up in your top left corner;

Then the following drop down menu will appear and you need to go to your settings! Under settings, click account.

Once there, you’ll simply need to scroll down until you find “Content Labels”. If you’re facing this issue, it will likely have “Show mature content” as off. Turn it on, along with “Blur mature content” and everything should return to normal for you on both the website and the app.

P.S. IF YOUR ACCOUNT IS REGISTERED UNDER THE AGE OF 18, THIS WILL (obviously) NOT WORK!!! & to my knowledge, tumblr doesn’t allow you to change your bday without reaching out to them, etc.
