“Baby, do you want anything while I’m up?”
The question is simple, so casual and comfortable, and not what catches him off guard. No, it's the new sobriquet that spills from your lips. It's silly, he thinks, how one little word has him so flustered; wings ruffling and chest ablaze.
That one little word reminds him of how he’s felt safer with you than he has in ages. A feeling he’d secretly been longing for, but never would admit to the world. Now here he was, the warmth in his chest spreading like a wildfire; his supposed weakness making him feel stronger than ever. The power you hold over him is unmatched.
In his dazed state he’s barely aware of how he’s suddenly on his way to the kitchen. The open layout of the apartment makes his journey brief, and he reaches you in seconds. Feathers and fingers greeting your arms in a tender caress as soon he does.
“Say that again,” he says, eyes gleaming with adoration.
“Say what?” you ask, unaware of your little slip.
Keigo isn't a shy man by any means, but the question brings him to the borderline of the feeling. He buries his face in your neck, a poor attempt to conceal the blush staining his cheeks. This isn't like him, but he can't help the butterflies causing an uproar in his stomach.
“What you called me…I liked it,” he mumbles, lips still lingering alarmingly close to your throat.
It takes mere seconds for your eyes to go from wide with surprise to soft with affection. Your fingers curl into his unruly blonde tresses in a soothing motion. There’s no denying seeing him like this is making your heart melt.
“Kei, baby, do you want anything?” you ask again, pulling back to face him. This time sure to add emphasis to the name.
He returns your gaze, looking at you as if you hung every star in the sky. If you knew one little word would have this much of an effect on him you would've put it to use much sooner. Not only did it seem to make him aglow with bliss, but it brought you the same feeling seeing him that way.
This is all still so new to Keigo; to you as well. Simple intimacies such as this still felt like a luxury for someone withheld from society so much. For so long it was as if he was a guest in his own life, not a permanent resident. With you now, things were beginning to shift.
Continuing to hold you in such an enraptured regard, he finally replies in a way that makes your breath hitch.
“I just want you,” he grins, and so goes the rest of the oxygen in the room.
Your stunned response fuels him further. A quick, electric kiss finds your lips before Keigo’s own dance around the rest of your face. There is no stopping the giggles spilling out from your mouth as he showers you in affection, something he has no trouble in doing.
Between laughter and kisses, you whisper, “Baby, I'm yours.”
pros of having a favorite character youve liked for over a decade: character brings you joy and excitement
cons of having a favorite character youve liked for over a decade: they have become a permanent part of your internal monologue and you cant get them to go away
missing The Character is a strange thing because yea there's always the option to go back to their source material or looking at art or reading fics but it's also like i can't just call them up like i would a friend to see how they're doing and that's the frustrating part of it
