One of the most important things that resulted in undertale/deltarune's wild popularity, i think, has been theories. These games have a lot of connections in places that don't really make sense, so it becomes a fun activity to figure out how to MAKE it make sense.
This is really fun for about 10 minutes, because that's about what its good for. This is because most theories are aimless, and don't really mean anything. Maybe this person is the knight, maybe Carol is secretly Juicy. Maybe the Roots is the friend of it all, maybe it's Gaster that is Juicy? maybe weird route is.... twisted? This isn't theorizing, its just connecting dots you see in the sand. It doesn't mean anything.
I bring this up NOT because I think anyone's wrong for enjoying theorizing, but because there's something missing. There is something to look at and to wonder, but people don't look at what's there, they look at what could be. All these words to say i kind of just wanted to try and focus on this "thing" this plot "thing" and see if other people enjoy it and do the same. Then I can keep watching theory videos with my gut out and not have to think too hard about these things anymore.
Those flowers... what the fuck is up with them
I assume if you're reading this you've also played UNDERTALE, there are flowers in this game. They are called "Golden Flowers", they're Iconic. They're the flowers that catch your fall into the underground so you can actually play the game, One of them is the main antagonist for said game. They also happen to be you and the king's favorite tea flavors. These flowers are just everywhere, they're even in non-flower friendly area's like the true lab. you can't escape them.
in stories these are usually called "SYMBOLS", I think these flowers are SYMBOLIC of something
They're guilt, those flowers at the beginning are actually the place of YOUR burial site, they're there to catch the 7th fallen human. They were planted and cultivated by Toriel, they are her guilt.
That main flower antagonist has adopted their siblings mantra "kill or be killed" out of guilt for, in their eyes, killing them.
that lab is the home of another characters guilt, of an experiment gone wrong.

These flowers in undertale's story MEAN something. It's connecting the grief of monster-kind to the player. grief of a dead future. monsters hope in a future was taken when those children died. The fallen child was killed by flowers in the first place.
This meaning is gone in DELTARUNE, all those golden flowers are gone. except for one.
this truly IMPLIES something, it implies the relationship Asgore has with the story. If you've already played through undertale when you see these flowers you're immediately reminded of the human souls, and when you see the 7th, you're reminded of THIS. of GUILT. even if you don't have the words this flower screams at you in a way no other flower in the game can.
