Found a little toad in the garden

Yeah he's just trying to clean out the garden pot. It's hard when the pot is bigger and he's only one apple tall, but he's doing his best.

Today I caught one of the largest frogs of my life. This gigantic Pelophylax ridibundus belongs to a Balkan lineage (formerly P. kurtmuelleri) that has an established introduced population in one lake in central Copenhagen. They are about twice the size of our native green frogs!

okay so every time I see this post crop back up in queues and notifications I end up thinking about it. Because I made the post and even I'm still doing the thing where I read the post about maintaining range of motion in my delicate meatsuit and I nod and hmm and think yeah that's a good idea and then dont move from where I'm curled up shrimp style staring at the nightmare rectangle.

So like. Thinking real hard about moving doesn't count as moving. Major bummer. Anyways. Joints.

Trying to keep myself from going "oh my god you people don' t know anything" by reminding myself that there are surely things that you don't just know, but consider such common knowledge that it wouldn't occur to you at all to consider that I wouldn't know that. The differences between frogs and toads are mostly superficial. When you get down to it, all toads actually fit in the frog category.
